Megyn Kelly is the co-anchor of Fox’s daytime news program “America’s Newsroom.” In a profile in today’s Washington Post, Howard Kurtz explains why Brit Hume – Fox’s Washington managing editor – why he hired Kelly:
“Here is this woman who was strikingly attractive but has tremendous air presence and a very strong voice,” Hume says. “We were knocked out. It was screamingly obvious that this was someone with tremendous potential.”
What’s more, says Hume, “she seemed to get what we’ve talked about with ‘fair and balanced news’ … She came in believing there was a left bias in the news. That’s not common.” He quickly created an opening for her.
too bad FOXNEWS is going to be crushed after all this is over….megyn is going to be looking for a new job in a year.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:08 amMeans nothing. I’ve been to the Fox studios plenty of times. They serve their Kool-Aid in big water jugs. She probably just had a few sips before the interview, that’s all.

Never underestimate the profitability of stupidity.
Either she came in saying anything in order to get the job, or she actually believes that there’s a left bias… either way, you have to question her ability as a journalist
April 14th, 2008 at 11:12 amIt’s good to see that they’re still hiring based in part on people that are “strikingly attractive.”
Priorities, after all!

April 14th, 2008 at 11:15 amAh, so “fair and balanced” really means “the media is so far to the Left we have to shift to the Right of Atilla the Hun to maintain balance.”
April 14th, 2008 at 11:16 amSheesh… she’s kinda scary looking.
There’s something… cruel… lurking under the surface in that face.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:17 amA surplus of white, leggy females is critical to keeping the propagandic juices flowing.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:22 amLet’s see — “strikingly attractive”, “tremendous air presence”, “very strong voice”, and she understands that ‘fair and balanced’ means mouthpiece for the neocon agenda.
All this means is “pretty shiny object to catapult the propaganda.”
April 14th, 2008 at 11:25 am“She came in believing there was a left bias in the news. That’s not common.”
WHAT THE F-ING F???
The news media in-general skewed significantly Right from Reagan onward. Reagan was given a complete pass on Iran- Contra, yet the Right has been screaming “lefty bias” ever since! That’s 20-26 years of repeating an increasingly false claim.
NOT COMMON?!!!
She was hired because bullshit is so much more convincing when delivered by a ‘hot’ female and she improved the studio scenery.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:28 amYet another Coulter, Matalin, Perino… all presence and pretty face (OK, Coulter doesn’t fall in this catherory), no mind or human feelings behind.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:28 amShe came in believing there was a left bias in the news. That’s not common.
So she came from the RIGHT of Fox News? She actually thinks that Hitler was a pinko commie liberal treehugger?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:31 amAs cleavage increases & news content diminishes, I’d like to thank Brittainy Hume for his quality fetish.
As we hear about pharmaceuticals in our drinking water, Mr. Hume must be downing Zoloft & other substances by the gallon.
He can barely keep his eyes open while speaking, and rarely contributes anything of substance to a conversation. In fact, I suspect he’s mistaken Ambien for his Zoloft.
Therefore, he is obligated to hire attractive females to sway viewership into watching an informational show with no informational content.
Mr. Hume’s approach has been so successful that CNN has now become Fox Lite, but with an even louder background soundtrack.
Add the extra graphics, crawler & station logo, and one can barely see the TV personality on screen. Eventually, all we’ll have is a voice talking over pop-up ads and moving data screens.
Folks, these are the public frequency spectrums WE OWN! Leave it to corporations to do ‘the wrong thing’ everytime…
April 14th, 2008 at 11:31 amI think Fox News needs to expand it’s hiring. Here’s why: Instead of spreading neocons who need jobs thoughout the workforce, their practices of favoritism, discrimination and other workplace ills should be tightly packed into one setting. The AEI can follow this model. This way, they can work among eachother, and when they get hungry, eat one another. This will protect humble, caring people throughout the rest of the workforce from being subject to this harm.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:31 amHere is this woman who was strikingly attractive but has tremendous air presence and a very strong voice,”
What? No mention of her breast size? C’mon, Faux, get balanced, fer X sake.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:32 amIt’s good to see Fox News has standards for their hiring.
Seriously…how many of these asses have made their stake on ‘fighting left wing media bias’? And how can so many people see the sham they’ve perpetrated in order to make their successes?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:32 am’strikingly attractive’ is the first qualifier. hahahaha. reminds me of that cnn chatterbunny chetry snagged after fox fired her when jon klein citing her qualification — ’she’s got a face for teevee’.
gotta love the priorities…
April 14th, 2008 at 11:34 amHow does a corporate lawyer become a Faux Nuzekaster?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:35 amBTW, love the tweaks, TP. Indeed, it is easier on the eyes.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:36 amHow can these stations “focus on the family” when they’re hyping boobs and butts before the eyes of these young children?
April 14th, 2008 at 11:38 amShe came in believing there was a left bias in the news.
Yeah, okay, funny, who doesn’t say that when they interview at Fox?

Just imagine a Pater Familias watching the Fox News for an hour… next time he sees his wife, he can’t but try to increase the family…
April 14th, 2008 at 11:48 am‘believing there was a left bias in the news’…a bigger crock of sh!t than this is hard to find.
Faux Noise-’Far from Balanced’
April 14th, 2008 at 11:52 amIt’s laughable that Howard Kurtz devotes a column to Megyn Kelly. What has this woman accomplished other than to somehow charm Brit Hume into giving her two shows after only two years? What questions has she asked; what reporting has she done; what abilities has she demonstrated to merit such a meteoric rise? Sure, the column gushes about her poise and quick wit, but this is nothing remarkable for television talent.
In fact, it is simply that she is attractive to look at. That’s it.
Mr. Kurtz must have been sweettalked by Ms. Kelly at a cocktail party or something. I think that that is Ms. Kelly’s real talent in the media business.
Men like Kurtz and Hume give me a pang of embarrassment for the male species.

You sure it wasn’t the otherway around? (No sexism intended – just good ol’ anti-fox sentiment)
She’s a gift to Liberals though i must admit.
April 14th, 2008 at 11:56 amWhat really matters is her legs.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:02 pmShe came in believing there was a left bias in the news. That’s not common
Its not common to believe that 2 + 2 = 5 either.
And does the quote imply that they brainwash those who don’t believe it ?

A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y! Buns over brains.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:13 pmNow Kelly has evidently decided that her superior legal judgment once again obviates the necessity to wait for a trial to arrive at a verdict. But in the Michael Vick case, it’s a guilty verdict. And Kelly, whose own past seems to be less than squeaky clean, could barely contain her theatrical condemnation. Kelly’s television motto seems to be, “Why wait for a trial when I can foment outrage now?”
Since this is how she handles all news stories including the Duke rape case; she is a perfect fit for Fox.
She reminds me of a song by Don Henley called “Dirty Laundry”. We got the bubble-headed bleach blonde comes on at five
She can tell you ’bout the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It’s int’resting when people die
Give us dirty laundry
Plus, it was rumored for the first half of last year that Kelly and Hume were having an affair. Just a rumor-Even as a rumor it is a horrifing thought. Hume, of course, loved all the attention he received because of it. He is quoted as saying he is very flattered. (Could be there is something to the rumor after all)
April 14th, 2008 at 12:18 pmIf you recognize that reality has a liberal bias, then it naturally follows that any media covering reality has a liberal bias.
Unfortunately, we don’t have that media in our country at the moment.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:21 pmi’d do her; but from behind, prob’ly, cuz that blank, vapid, devoid countenance would shrivel my lil willie like a cold shower…
April 14th, 2008 at 12:31 pmWhat has this woman accomplished other than to somehow charm Brit Hume into giving her two shows after only two years?
i figger she gave him a blow job…ol’ lurch aint got a stiffy since 9/11/01
April 14th, 2008 at 12:34 pmShe came in believing there was a left bias in the news.
Yeah, those facts can be stubborn things sometimes can’t they? That’s why the facts don’t get reported.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:41 pmShe came in believing there was a left bias in the news.
Of course she did. That’s WHY she got the job. Indeed, if she had NOT shared Hume’s delusional belief in the “left wing media bias,” she would not have been hired. Upton Sinclair said it best: “It is difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends upon his not understanding it.”
For guys like Howard Kurtz and Brit Hume, belief in a “left bias in the news” is an article of faith. If a belief in the Tooth Fairy was required to work at Fox news, I’m sure they’d all believe in that too.
Unfortunately, many Americans watch Fox news under the impression that they’re being informed. Brezhnev era Pravda was equally “informative.”
April 14th, 2008 at 12:45 pmHas she jumped to the front of Billo’s loofah line?
April 14th, 2008 at 12:47 pmNow now, let’s not let sexism get in the way of a good ol’ right wing media bashing.
April 14th, 2008 at 12:51 pmI’d still like to know what makes the services of this crazy, nutty fart in hot demand? For starters, isn’t he outdated?

I agree, TRoS. She gives me the creeps.
April 14th, 2008 at 1:25 pmHeh. Her bust size is probably higher than her IQ.
And — harpies had “strong voices” too. That doesn’t mean I want to meet one. Or watch one catapulting the propaganda.

I get a laught out of this too. Expescially considering the fine family fare offered by the Fox Network. After all, “Married with Children” is definitely a step towards the high moral ground.
