Pathogens do not concern me. I have probably breathed more lead paint dust and asbestos (thanks to the US Navy) than the average american. Played with mercury too as a child. I have been very lucky I am not dead yet. Concerning pathogens in the air there are very few places in this country that are dangerous. Those places are usually around refinerys, coal fired plants and they are usuall populated by minorities.

What I don’t understand though is what in the hell is this woman even trying to say.
So yet again, the South has to pay on its back the cost of using coal in this country to the northern states. We’re going to have another Civil War here in a short period of time, because the cost is going to go up. So the Southeast has not bought into this because they understand that they’re going to have to pay a very high price. Maryland has decided to sort of stay out of it because they have coal, as is Pennsylvania. They don’t necessarily want to pay Yankee taxes, right?
“Has to pay on its back the cost of using coal”? Huh? Is this supposed to mean that the coal-poor South is going to go bankrupt paying for Northern coal? Right now, the South (courtesy of all the offshore Gulf of Mexico oil rigs) that’s producing a good chunk of US oil and natural gas. I’m also a bit confused since most “climate legislation” tends to focus on renewable energy resources.
“Pennsylvania”? Huh? When did Pennsylvania get transferred to being a part of the South? Or is this woman somehow suggesting that Pennsylvania won’t supply coal to Southern states? (The Maryland thing completely eludes me since that state’s coal reserves are pretty negligible.)
Does this woman not realize that ENERGY RESOURCES had very little to do with the Civil War? Petroleum had been discovered in the United States just a few years before the Civil War and certainly didn’t make that much of an impact on the war’s overall outcome. People relied much more heavily on (get ready for it) RENEWABLE ENERGY RESOURCES, such as hydro power (both from rivers and steam power) and wind power as well as human and animal labor (note that the human labor does NOT simply mean “slavery”).
No, instead of focusing on this woman’s outrageously bizarre “comments”, far too many people have turned this thread into a “bash the South” forum. But, that’s soooo much easier to do. (Note folks, the reference to the South is purely a work of fiction from what passes for her brain but it didn’t stop a group of “progressives” from thinking that “the South” was supporting her.)

I just thought that since you engaged in a conversation with me I thought you were concerned about what would happen if the world keeps warming up. I didn’t know that you were just playing around. Plus polar bears would probably eat penguins if someone would transport penguins to the south shores of the arctic sea.

You made me laugh with that one or you thought I am that stupid. I am going to buy some property about 50′ above sea level and it will be worth a fortune in 20 years. I hope you are located that high. I don’t care what is causing the world to heat up I am retired and have many secure investments and my children and grandchildren are all set. I hope you are too.

You worthless “progressives” who just looooove to be so “fair-minded” can’t wait to slam the South at every turn yet you just love to ignore the fact that it was LA cops who decided to turn Rodney King into a piñata and that Boston fought school busing with the same vehemence of the 1950s and 1960s Southern segregationists. You tend to ignore the Aryan Nations compounds (and their ilk) that, for some inexplicable reason, love the Pacific Northwest and you love to ignore the fact that the 20th Century’s KKK was as active in the North (activities ranged from New England to the Mississippi River, and even the Pacific Coast saw Klan activity).
Yeah, it’s easy to see why Obama’s comments in San Francisco had to be “explained” when so many of his supporters (fans?) are just as snobbish about people not like them.
