Semantics have become more important than content.

Opium was used in our own Civil War as a medicinal wonder drug to relieve the suffering of soldiers wounded in the field of battle. One of own President’s, William Henry Harrison was treated with the substance. Hence the phrase Religion is the opiate of the masses wasn’t exactly pejorative if you consider that it was being equated with the one relief that ill people of that time had to ease their pain. Religion is often a place where people go to seek solace and relief from our troubled world. The problem is when politicians and pundits swoop in with their wedge issues and try to pit people against each other. Maybe they can find a clip of Obama saying Happy Holidays and declare him an enemy combatant in the War against Christmas?

In my opinion, if you have to choose one or the other, it’s far better to be a socialist than a Social Darwinist such as Rove and Kristol and the rest of the neoconservatives!!!! At least socialists are capable of having consideration for other people, perceiving that someone’s worth as an individual encompasses more than simply their net worth, and recognizing that just because someone may be worth less in financial terms does not make him worthless!

Reist reminds of an dog I had once that just showed up at the house. Poor scrawny mutt was so insecure it would do anything for attention. It would eat grass and shit on the back step just so someone would yell at it.

It had a horrible black hole where the psyche should have been. I can see Reist’s black, oozing hole where its soul should be.

And just like that dog, Reist will move on to somewhere else to be hated anew. Soon please.
