Rove Watch Clock: It’s Been 75 Days Since Fox Has Failed To Identify Rove As A McCain Adviser

Today on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace brought on Karl Rove to analyze the 2008 election. Peddling Rove as an source of independent analysis, Wallace introduced him as “the architect of two presidential victories and now a Fox News analyst.” Wallace failed to mention that those victories (for President Bush) were Republican victories, or that Rove has spent his entire life working exclusively for Republicans.

Unsurprisingly, Rove showed two electoral maps predicting heavy general election advantages for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) against both Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-NY). He used these maps to claim that “the last five weeks have been good for Sen. John McCain”:

This race is far more competitive at this point than I suspect either the Democrats are comfortable with or that John McCain would have expected. He should be way behind at this point…and yet McCain is hanging in there in both of the polls.

Watch it:

At no point did host Chris Wallace point out that Rove is hardly an independent adviser — or that he is working as an adviser to the McCain campaign. Despite daily appearances on the network, Fox continues to refuse to reveal Rove’s extensive role in the McCain campaign.

It has been 75 days since Rove’s first appearance as a “Fox News analyst.” How much longer until Fox properly identifies him as a McCain adviser? Then again, Fox has no interest in revealing Rove’s bias, since it is the reason the network hired him in the first place.

Why am I not surprised that Fux-with-the-News isn’t honest enough to admit what everyone else in the media knows but won’t point out? I’m sick of the whole lot of them.

  2. Freedom Rebel says:

You are absolutely right, Jane. The only one left that gives the news and even admits mistakes and apologizes is Keith Olbermann. He is the only one I will watch now.

And the media has the gaul to say it is Liberal Bias, PLEASE give me a break!! We can only wish that someday that will be true. I’m hoping for in my lifetime.

  3. barfly says:

According to Rove’s “map” of the match-up between McCain and Obama, Michigan, Louisiana, and Ohio will vote for McCain – which shows how delusional Rove’s math has become. I think it’s more a wish-list than true political analysis.

  4. ConcernedParent says:

Not sure why this would surprise anyone, why does TP even recognize that fox news exists.

  5. Freedom Rebel says:

Fox continues to refuse to reveal Rove’s extensive role in the McCain campaign.

It will be a very cold day in Hell before that happens.

  6. barfly says:

And hearing Rove’s heavily-caveated explanation of his maps, it’s clear even he doesn’t believe them.

  7. barfly says:

If you’re selling organic apples, and you can prove the guy down the street’s apples are laced with DDT, it’s just good business to point that out to possibly-unsuspecting consumers.

    Scenes I’d Like to see:

Wallace: “And for the sharpest insigt into the race we turn to political expert Karl Rove, known to his frineds as “Turd Blossom”.

So, Turd, when the nation votes the right way in November, how big of a landslide will it be for John McCain?”

  9. barfly says:

McCain’s on Steffi’s show, trying to say he’s the agent of true change in this election – except he can’t give any specifics on what victory in Iraq would look like, what he’d do differently on the economy, or anything.

Nothing but campaign boilerplate, except a hubristic line about “keeping casualties down.”

  10. Freedom Rebel says:

Sorry O/T I thought this was good news…..

Distressed war veterans get day in court

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Veterans of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and elsewhere who say they have systematically been denied proper medical care will get their day in federal court starting on Monday in San Francisco.

The lawsuit before a judge in U.S. District Court for Northern California claims the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs was unable to deal with the growing number of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, cases emerging from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The rest of the article is on Raw Story. They need to overhaul everything in the VA, it is so complicated that many get frustrated. The reason the government has done nothing up to this point is that it will cost them a fortune. That is part of the price, the government should realize, they have to pay when they decide to wage a war. You have to take care of the veterans when they come home. There is no excuse for the veteran rape victims not getting proper treatment either.

On the Front Page of MyDD, there are two ‘electoral college’ maps charting the polling results of Obama/McStain and Clinton/McStain. McStain leads in both cases, but by only TWO electoral votes against Hillary, and by 60 against Obama.

I figger that’s just about the way it will shake out in Nov…

At this very ongoing moment there is a full frontal attack (WAR) on America and it’s peoples by the Republican Party..did anyone notice or report this?

  14. barfly says:

Steffi’s got his comfort round table, and predictably, Sam D. covers for Steff, saying the debate questions were reasonable. They’re now doing a version of the Have a Beer with Bush; it’s all about who’s more likeable to voters.

Now, Steffi’s playing the Hillary MoveOn slam, and they’re all clucking their tongues about Obama’s liberalism. Will makes a point about SSI, that raising the cap will affect teachers and cops – except I don’t think most cops make a hundred thousand a year.

Will is saying McCain is almost liberal in his economic outlook, and Donaldson is calling McCain a flip-flopper…

  15. ConcernedParent says:

Yeah but this is fox news, you either love or hate them, not too many people who say ” Geez, are these guys really fair and balanced, im not sure?” LOL Point being is they thrive and survive on attention, without controversy to turn heads they really dont have much to say. They love to stir up trouble, how else would these hacks really survive. Without the fear of their supports and the hate of the rest of us they don’t exist. And how we take the bait every time, bill O spouts some inane nonsense, or some guest says things that would normally get one committed to an insane asylum and we go crazy over it.

  16. barfly says:

Donaldson makes the case that McCain as president will be a lame duck from day one. Will tries to sandbag, saying repubs in the Senate will bring balance to legislation – and Donaldson says “the republicans might not get 45 votes in the Senate,” and Will doesn’t disagree..

  17. 5th Estate says:

    per Freedom Rebel

    That is encouraging news.

  18. gummitch says:

To some degree, Turdblossom is correct. These have been “good” weeks for McCain, even though he’s having a terrible time raising contributions. He’s having a free ride because he’s not having to defend his stupid and constantly-changing comments in a debate format, and because the media lets him slide on every stupid remark he makes. Once the Democrats are in a position to confront him, and to insist that the press pay at least a tiny bit of attention, it will be obvious that he hasn’t a clue.

Of course, many of the idiots who voted for Bush will believe McCain’s line of crap about lower taxes and “winning” in Iraq, but there are fewer and fewer of the Gullibles every day.

I’m finally glad a judge is willing to listen to them. They say this could go on til May. I don’t know if he can do anything for them; not sure if there is any precedence that they can use from the past.

I needed happy new it’s Sunday!!! Have a great day 5th Estate.

  20. barfly says:

I think I see the rude outline of a campaign issue forming, if George Will has any real contacts inside the RNC: they are going to make a move to split middle-class voters by getting Obama and Clinton on record as criticizing (or advocating) for a lifting of the FICA cap, to have upper-middle-income (and the wealthy), pay more into the system. They would see it as a win/win for themselves, and for their wealthy constituents. Either the two dems would disavow the FICA tax raises, or conditionally support them – a public promise to keep their taxes low, or a class-war weapon, to beat the dems with, in the general election.

  21. tokin librul says:

Donaldson says “the republicans might not get 45 votes in the Senate,” and Will doesn’t disagree…

they only need 41. There’s enough bluedogs and bushdogs to keep the corporate oligachy in unchallengeable power for the foreseeable future.

  22. Neocon says:

    That’s music to my ears…

  23. barfly says:

And following up, the reason I say this, is because today was the first time a republican talking head has, to my knowledge, ever raised the issue of lifting the FICA cap. The issue has been raised on these shows before, but never by a republican. Before, they were merely dismissive, but today Will used a specific talking point about teachers and cops, when referencing lifting the FICA cap – meaning someone, somewhere had given Will the talking point, and it was presented in a strange, slap-dash fashion; something Will rarely does.

    So?

Polls show BOTH of the circus Dims losing to McStain…it doesn’t matter what the margin is…remember 2000/2004?

You guys are staring to get the picture: defeat in November because the majority of American do not endorse your view…

  27. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Fox News Channel is neither “Fair” nor “Balanced” in any way, nor should they be if they want to claim to be journalists. Journalists are objective. The fact that FNC refuses to publicly acknowledge, even through spoken words if not unacknowledged screen graphics, that one of their “political analysts” is actually advising one of the presidential candidates proves their fraudulent nature. The reason it needs to be pointed out is that a large percentage of their viewers either don’t know that Rove is advising McCain or don’t believe the truth. How does FNC justify saying they are “balanced”, and how can they say they are being “fair” to their viewers? Since they clearly don’t practice “journalism” at FNC, their White House press credentials should be stripped.

  28. Potfry says:

Fox has also failed to reveal Rove’s “666″ birthmark.

Really, the Rove obsession is hilarious.

  29. Robt says:

Not that I would ask anyone to hurt Rove’s feelings.

But Rove also had the MAYH for the ‘06 congressional election.

Why doesn’t Karl Rove recieve credit for this accomplishment?

It has to be a personal resume builder for him. As the voter suppression and caging goals he succeded with.

Murdoch and the totalitarians he supports and serves are nothing less than nationalist socialism incarnate.

Clever, but it wasn’t me, it was Freedom Rebel.

  32. Plumb Bob says:

Honestly, this has to be one of the funniest complaints I’ve ever heard. Your own link concering Rove’s status as a member of McCain’s campaign says that he held one conversation with John McCain. One.

So, let’s make sure we understand:

You think Fox News is being derelict somehow by failing to mention that Karl Rove held one conversation with the McCain campaign during this entire election season, and that he’s worked for Republicans the rest of his career.

You’d be happy if Wallace introduced Rove as “Republican operative Karl Rove, who has never worked for a Democrat in his life and who recently held a conversation with the McCain campaign, about which he has not said anything specific?” Would that do it for you?

Just out of curiosity, would you also expect CNN to introduce Paul Begala as “Democratic operative, who has never worked for Republican in his life, and who gained notoriety as President Clinton’s attack dog?” Or do you consider Begala middle-of-the-road?

Honestly… get over yourselves. We all know who Karl Rove is. Jeez.

  33. SP Biloxi says:

“Rove Watch Clock: It’s Been 75 Days Since Fox Has Failed To Identify Rove As A McCain Adviser”

And you will be waiting for the cow to come home on that. Fix News wouldn’t know the word “honest journalism” if it bite them in the butt.

  34. Neocon says:

Try a little intellectual honesty instead of whining all the time…

  35. blue state bob says:

Does anyone expect Fox to be honest and practice basic journalistic ethics? Nothing in Fair and Balanced covers that.

  36. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >I figger that’s just about the way it will shake out in Nov…

anyone that thinks, now that we’re at this point, that hillary would perform better than obama in a general election is downright delusional. young people and blacks are two vital democratic constituents, and if the super’s scr33w them over and tell obama his majority wins dont matter, those two constituentcies are going to stay home in massive numbers and hillary will get badly trounced. add to the fact that she has the burnden of the clintom name, with absolutely none of the clinton charisma, and you’ve got hillary doing even worse at the polls. not to mention, republicans have been holding thier fire against hilary and have, in all likelyhood been secretly working with her to try and undermine obama, whose only vulberability is the actions of people who know him and his occasional verbal gaffe. the fact clinton has all kinds of documents that she’s refusing to release gives strong credence to the fact thier skeletons in there that the republicans WILL dig up.

  37. LoraS says:

This shouldn’t be surprising at all, since Faux claims to be “fair and balanced,” all the while acting like a wing of the Repugnacant Party.

  38. frenchfries says:

Hate to say it: Rove is right. McSame is faring much, much better than expected or feared. I’m downright panicking.

Hillary won’t go away until, say, July. Then Obama will be damaged goods. And after the Republican convention the swooning of the press will only begin.

This will be one crappy election day, if something doesn’t change fast. And to be sure, I’m not saying Hillary would fare better. She would be doing even worse. But as long as the two of them don’t turn their attention to McCain – well until that it won’t matter much if Fox Noise does make honest journalism or not.
