John McCain (R-AZ) has missed more votes than any other senator in the 110th Congress — approximately 58 percent. Last month, campaign adviser Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS) confirmed that voting in the Senate isn’t “a high priority” for McCain. Building up “a congressional outreach machine” to win over lawmakers in his bid for president, however, is a priority. CQ reports:
But when McCain isn’t around, which is most of the time, he has a small but growing team of campaign officials who are making the rounds for him.
Last week, for example, campaign manager Rick Davis met with Minority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri and several other House Republicans to discuss McCain’s economic proposals and talk about strategy for the general election. Charles R. Black Jr., a lobbyist and veteran of Republican presidential politics who recently resigned as chairman of BKSH & Associates to work for McCain, has held similar meetings with Senate Republicans.
Republican interpretation of Campaign Officials: They are not lobbyists, they quit their jobs to work on the McCain campaign. They use to be lobbyists, not anymore. Please stop talking down to all of us!!

April 21st, 2008 at 10:49 amMaybe the voters of Arizona should get another Senator to full in for Teflon John McCain since he’s to busy to help the State. Now when McCain loses the election what will he tell the people of Arizona who have had no representation? It should be interesting if McCain vs Obama. As Obama hasn’t been voting on bills for his State either as he has been very busy with the campaign and working with Connie Rice on solving the problem in Kenya. Americans are interested in a candidate that does his/her job for the State they represent while still running for President. I loved it when Obama said he has been working hard for the country for 10 years. Now he was a Illinois Legislator 2 years then a Senator for 2 years as he explain he was working with the poor people in Illinois. Well that’s a great record to run on as he said no one has done anything for the US since JFK.
April 21st, 2008 at 10:50 amOne could only wonder how Obama got to that point of thinking. JFK died in 1964 as Obama was living the great life at the age of 3 years old. Now he by passed all those years as if he is the only one who could save America. To bad he wasn’t thinking about it during the Katrina Storm or the Jenna Six. I guess it’s just important to blame others and to get votes. If things had been as bad as Obama says he and his wife wouldn’t have had the life they have. It seems Obama like Connie Rice is black on a as needed basis.

Whine, whine, whine about gas prices. Other countries, excluding those that have the oil, have been paying much more for years. $4.54 per gallon in Canada today (converted from $1.20 per liter average price).
April 21st, 2008 at 11:24 amSorry about my previous post. No coffee this morning and I’m in the wrong thread.
April 21st, 2008 at 11:26 amHey Jackie
At least Obama , when he does vote or decides on an issue , is on the correct side of it ; how does Hillary’s votes on the Iraq resolution and Kyl-Lieberman look ?
April 21st, 2008 at 11:47 amHey McMetal, Obama didn’t have to put it on the line at a time when folks were checking to see if you had a flag out front of your house, and were being beaten down with doctored intelligence, lies, and false patriotism. Matter of fact, he seems to have avoided putting it on the line aa lot when he was in Illinois and then was happy to take credit for the hard work of others during the years of Republican legislative dominance when the Dems came back into power and he was being made “king” by a state power broker.
April 21st, 2008 at 12:34 pmIf McCain has missed the most votes of any senator, maybe we can count on him taking even more vacation than the current resident of the White House. Which means that he would turn over his presidency to the VP, not a new concept.
