There will be blood: Tony Snow joins CNN.

CNN has announced that beginning today, former White House press secretary Tony Snow will be joining the network as a “conservative commentator.” CNN president Jon Klein explains the decision:

In the White House, Tony brought a remarkably human touch to the discussion of public policy, which he will continue to do as part of the Best Political Team on Television. He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise to what is already the most provocative and wide-ranging political analysis on the air.

In October, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly warned Snow against joining CNN: “I mean, that’s the devil over there. … You can’t go into the pagan throne over there.” He added that if CNN put Snow on the 8 pm slot as a competitor to him, “it’s going to get bloody.” Watch it:

Just what the Fox wannabe channel needs - another conservative liar.

If anyone is looking for a reason to block CNN, this should but them over the top. Snow talks out of his mouth and ass at the same time.

Maybe he could get a job as a Clown...

  5. RUCerious Says:

Great! I can't wait to see some preacher's skull getting bashed in at Tony's home bowling alley!

  6. hussein toasterhead Says:

Whose milkshake will he be drinking, then?

  7. RUCerious Says:

O'Reilly better watch out for bowling invitations at Tony's house...

"He will contribute a unique breadth of political and journalistic expertise"

I don't remember this man ever working in mainstram politics or journalism... very strange because i am a student of both. Surely this cannot be the same Tony Snow who spun Bush lies for years?.. surely this cannot be a former FoxNews propoganda hole?

  9. Wayne Says:

CNN, the new FOX network, just as stupid as the first one.

  16. robertoroberto Says:

Perhaps CNN were looking to 'dumb down' their programming. They are probably losing the republican audience. Tomorrow on CNN - special feature "GUNS ARE COOL!!!"

  17. robertoroberto Says:

Personally, i think CNN should just spend an entire day's budget on getting Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow to discuss every issue in America today. Until that day, they will never have me as a regular viewer (i still tune in to Robin Meade.. for pesonal reasons..)

  18. Tired of being lied to Says:

This really drops CNN to the lowest rung of the credible-news ladder. First Glen Beck and now Tony Snow?!? Do we really need ANOTHER conservative crackpot behind a microphone taking up bandwidth?

CNN is beginning to look more like a FOX every day. I watch CNN less and less all the time, and now it will diminish even further. It will be interesting to see if MSNBC picks up more viewers who just can't stomach yet another right-wing mouthpiece saying unbelievable things.

  25. Bullsmith Says:

Yay, CNN makes sure that long after Bush is gone his official spokesman will be front and center, assaulting us all with his trademark "human" lying spin.

    Thanks so much.

  28. foolme1ns Says:

First ABC has the debacle of wednesday nights enquirer debate, and now this.

Makes me think I should have television feed put back in, just so I could take it out again in protest.

Television is nothing but crap anymore. I don't miss any of it. The commercials, the inane and brutish "reality" shows, the gossip and rumor mongering that passes for journalism. They can have it all. I wouldn't get again on a bet. They are all competing for the largest share of an ever diminishing audience.

  29. Bobwurst Says:

Butttttt, ABC hired a Clinton stooooooge. none of you progressives comlained about that, did cha? (Ok trolls, now you can go back to sleep.)

  30. ralph the wonder llama Says:

CNN has announced that beginning today, former White House press secretary Tony Snow will be joining the network as a “conservative commentator.”

When was the last time any of the news networks hired someone as a "liberal commentator"?

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

  31. 5th Estate Says:

Why isn't Snow returning to Fox? He'd get more money and respect having been WH flack.
Is it possible that Snow sees a future with CNN rather than FOX?
Would that be because CNN is slightly LEFT of Fox and thus slightly more attuned to the national political trend ( which is actually towards a a pretty central position, given the radical right swing over the past decads?

Is Snow actually smart enough to see the writing on the wall?
Given his "mimbo" qualifications, I'd say yes, now that reality is finally setting the agenda. But he's not tenasfigured, he's just going to 'Fox-Lite'.

Still it may be telling, another chink or defection away frome the extrmee right.

  32. gummitch Says:

They've never hired a "liberal commentator" because they're constantly trying to prove they're not liberal -- of course, most of us already knew that.

  33. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

Speaking of which, I wonder if CNN's health plan will cover Tony Snow's pre-existing cancer? Or will he have to pay for his future treatments out of his own pocket?

  34. MapleStreet Says:

Knowing how o'reilley claims victory over Olberman's Countdown (**NOT**), should be interesting seeing Un-Really, Snow, and Olbermann going head to head.

My guess it that Snow will siphon off Un-Really, as they are in similar politics - which should make Olbermann look really, really, good.

  37. mary Says:

The CNN blog cut the comments off after 34 minutes and 52 comments on this news. My comment is still "awaiting moderation" or whatever after over an hour, so I guess it won't make the cut. The thread below it is still open and the one before that was open for two and a half hours with 285 comments.

p.s. the comments were almost all disgusted and negative.

  38. Bartolo Says:

Med students around the country will tune in to watch Tony's progression.

  39. mary Says:

When I want to catch a minute of news there's almost nothing to be found on any channel. They've practically completely shut down the flow of real news.

  40. Freedom Rebel Says:

Tony Snow will be joining the network as a “conservative commentator.”

Well joining CNN is a step up from Fox. Since I don't consider Fox a news organization.

By conservative, they mean he will still support Republican propoganda. I can't see any change there. As press secretary if he didn't like the question, he just wouldn't answer it.

It would have been nice if CNN had gotten a journalist that was a little more progressive. It's going to be like watching Brit Hume, who I can't stomach to watch anymore.

  41. zuch Says:

That's it. No more CNN. Everyone should flip past them just as we have learned to do with Focksnewz. Don't watch them at all. Zip. Nada.

  45. L. Hussein Annie Says:

Well, I'd pay to see a cage match. ;o) Tony Snow versus Billo - no holds barred? Oh yeah!!

  46. specialist f Says:

Better idea,Annie. Cuff them by the ankles in a deserted room with no food or water, and give them dull hacksaws. "There will be blood, yes there will be blood". ;)

  47. Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

So CNN, you see a need for conservative commentators. Well, where are your liberal commentators?

  48. flavorino Says:

Another lying pundit to add to the pile littering the tv landscape.
If there weren't already enough, here's one more reason to stop watching tv for political coverage.
These are the same a**holes we have to thank for catapulting the propaganda and leading America into a trillion-plus dollar hole, with $4 gal gas coming and the dollar nosediving into oblivion.
The political pundit classes are lying traitors and collecting multi-million dollar salaries for it.
