Former Justice official pleads guilty in Abramoff probe.

This week, Robert Coughlin, a former DOJ official, was accused of having a “criminal conflict of interest” with jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Today, Coughlin admitted in federal court “that he accepted meals, concert tickets and luxury eats at sporting events from a lobbyist,” facing “up to 10 months in prison under a plea deal with the government.” “The lobbyist was not named but Coughlin was lobbied during the period in question by Kevin Ring, a member of Abramoff’s lobbying team who also is under investigation,” the AP notes.

Is this going to be what brings down bush/co??? They've gotten away with so many more serious crimes. Maybe we can get them under RICO?

    specialist f @3

Nothing will bring down the Chimp this late in the game. Impeachment or a criminal trial would last much later than Jan. 20th. When the Dem. president gets in then everthing will come out. All of their crimes. Then the shit will hit the fan. No one can save these criminals.

Is that all we get? How about perjury for Gonzo in Congress? Multiple counts? How about Rice? She lied, too. Mukasey is also suspicious. How about the generals paid to propagandize the US populous on the MSM? How about them being called to the house judiciary committee, under oath, to talk about their ill-gotten gains? How about a subpoena for Rove about Siegelman? I'm waiting.

Meals tickets and luxury eats ??? the dems are A CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS !
Congress has been rendered powerless to hold anyone accountable or for that matter to have them even bother answering a summons .

Just out of curiosity, how long did it take to explain to this Republican what a "conflict of interest" was?

the funniest thing I've learned recently ..... 9/11 is the day the CIA under george bush overthrew the government of Chile resulting in the tortures and deaths of 10's of 1000's of chileans who thought much as progressives think here on this site .
    ironic...
The CIA has had many trial runs at overthrowing democracies in this hemisphere....
    Lets investigate those....

“that he accepted meals, concert tickets and luxury eats at sporting events from a lobbyist,”

Are you sure those aren't supposed to be "luxury seats"? What would be considered "luxury eats"?

  12. Freedom Rebel Says:

He is only getting convicted on one count; that is part of the deal he made. I don't call that justice. He helped get money for a jail, gave insider tips and ran interference with colleagues. That deserves being convicted on more than one count. He must be giving them information so that they can go after Kevin Ring.

Kevin Ring bought Coughlin cheap. So the price of his morals and soul, amount to meals and concert tickets. That is truly tragic.

  13. freeman Says:

Talk about tragic .. what if the seats were for a Inti Illimani concert !
Oh and victor Jara says hello ...

  18. Freedom Rebel Says:

Accepted the gifts from 2001 to 2003 while working on legislative affairs for the Justice Department. Coughlin received luxury seats for the Redskins and the Wizards.

Coughlin had better given them enough information about Kevin Ring that it is a slam dunk to prosecute him. They gave him a sweetheart of a deal. Coughlin can not be the only one Ring approached and gave gifts too. That should be another long and impressive list of Republicans.

And when the system of laws breaks down ....... ?

  20. freeman Says:

Torture is a war crime but our own Henry kissinger a war criminal tried in absentia over the co ordination of the collection of left leaning progressives and their subsequent delivery to the torturers all over South America is the Bushes choice to head the governments committee to investigate 911 !
