Is John McCain your ‘worst nightmare’?

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) believes he is a man to fear. Today in a blogger call, he declared, “I think that people should understand that I will be Hamas’s worst nightmare.” Some other groups who, according to McCain, consider him their “worst nightmare”:

mccainpoint.jpg – al Qaeda: “My presidency will be al Qaeda’s worst nightmare.” [Link]

– Democrats: “John McCain: The Democrats’ Worst Nightmare.” [Campaign ad, Link]

– Washington: “I’m prepared to cut hundreds of billions of dollars out of wasteful and unnecessary spending in America. … It’s the worst nightmare. I’m their worst nightmare, my friend.” [Link]

Of course, on the flip side, McCain said that the Democratic candidates are likely “favored by Hamas.” By that logic, there’s no doubt that al Qaeda, Democrats, and Washington are also dreaming of Clinton or Obama while having nightmares about McCain’s intimidating toughness.

Update Matthew Yglesias writes, "International politics shouldn't be conceived of as some nutty zero-sum race to the bottom where our goal is to make Hamas cry -- the question is who are we trying to help and do we have ways to do it."

John McCain as POTUS is a recurring nightmare i’ve had for a few months now. Lets hope it doesn’t carry on past November.

  2. Jim says:

Four more years of fearmongering and nightmares. That’s quite an impressive election strategy.

  3. wright_god says:

Clinton is McCain’s Worst nighmare! I hope Obama is the dem’s pick and so does McCain!

  4. osage says:

This is the kind of buffoonish chest-beating that only Republicans are capable of. This statement alone should disqualify this dangerously hostile horror of a war-monger from being president in the eyes of every sane American voter. McCain cheated on his wife and is now married to the women who was his mistress…….who just happens to be a multi-millionairess. I guess it’s clear who adulterers and gigolo gold-diggers want to be the next “worst nightmare” of a president.

  5. Buckie Boy says:

    Republicans – America’s worst nightmare.

Boom-Boom-Boom….Boom-Boom-Iran McBush if elected will lead to the total destruction of this Country.

  6. tom says:

McNumbNuts is only the “worst nightmare” to the lobbyists who are running his campaign. For everyone else, he is merely a “wet dream” and he will be promptly forgotten after he is badly beaten in the November election.

  7. Nevar says:

To all the terrorists, corporate militarists, weapons manufacturers, and last but not least, the drug companies; John McCain is more like a wet dream.

Dang, tom, if only I could type a little faster…

The way I figure it, Bush has been the best thing that’s ever happened to Al Qaeda. And for that matter, any group with an anti-American agenda. Bush has been their greatest recruiting tool.

I would think that their “worst nightmare” would be a U.S. President who would end their gravy train by not p!ssing off the rest of the world, and focusing on regaining some good standing with other countries — especially in the ME.

I would think that McCain would be the terrorists’ wet dream, because he is basically not only going to continue on the same course as Bushco, he’ll probably ramp it up several notches. The Democrats, on the other hand, aren’t going to play that game. And once Al Qaeda can’t fuel their cause with anti-American sentiment from the masses, they will erode.

  10. misshusseinmolly says:

OMG — I’m only the third person to use “wet dream” as what McBomb would be to the terrorists. Surely this is as obvious to everyone else as it is to us.

  11. miatch says:

Hamas is the DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED party of Gaza. McSame acts like that doesn’t matter. Why should we be their worst enemy, instead of partners in peace????

Clinton is the Republican’s wet dream. Why do you think that they are all pulling for her. Is it because they love her?

  16. conniptionfit says:

mommeee… all you guys are scarin’ me! What IS it about McCain that makes so many of you spontaneously come up with the phrase “wet dream”?? ;D

  17. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

There are an awful lot of “wet dreams” running around here today. What do you suppose that means?

  18. galmud says:

Hamas perhaps hope for Obama, not that much will change in US Israel-policy but it might make a little difference

But al Qaeda definitely wants McCain. Bush stupid adventures in Iraq was a dream come true for bin Laden, and McCain plans to continue the occupation and mess Iraq up further. And if Bush doesnt beat him to it McCain will bomb and invade Iran and Syria and everyone else who dares ask him a tough question

    Let’s see . . my answer is . . as a president ? . . YESS!

However, as an opponent in one on one full contact ring-around-the-rosey . . . I think I could take him . .

It could be all the pharmaceuticals in the drinking water

  21. fletc3her says:

I don’t see how Bin Laden, or anyone, could muster up much fear of a Republican President. More saber rattling. More incompetent foreign policy. More ineffective military action. Yet still without the competence to bring those who did our country harm to justice.

    In a word, “Yes.”

Caveat: Now that Hulk-berry and Mitt are history.

  23. darlineishere says:

McCain never says the same thing twice in the same way. Is this indecision, memory malfunction, or confusing the voters.

  24. americangoy says:

““I’m prepared to cut hundreds of billions of dollars out of wasteful and unnecessary spending in America.”

Does that include the $3 billion annual “aid” to Israel, and the $2 billion on “loans” on which we never require repayment and conveniently forget about?

  25. dixie blood says:

    Actually not!

My worst nightmare is GW Botch starting a war with Iran and declaring martial law before the next election…

Second is Cheney shoots Botch in the face, blames AQ, and declares martial law and suspends the election…

John McCain will follow Osama Bin Laden to the gates of hell:

“We will do whatever is necessary. We will track him down. We will capture him. We will bring him to justice, and I will follow him to the gates of Hell.”
    (May 2007)

“I will follow Osama Bin Laden to the gates of hell and I will shoot him with your products.”
(October 2007, at NH small arms plant)

“My friends, I want to stand before you now and tell you that if I have to follow him to the gates of hell I will get Osama Bin Laden and I will bring him to justice. I will get him!”
    (January 2008)

  32. Zakstar says:

I think he’ s been watching too many Dirty Harry movies.

  33. questioneverything says:

McCain is democracy’s worst nightmare. A wolf in sheep’s clothing charging to battle on a bunch of lies. Give me a break. he’s old and crooked and hateful.

  34. helenahandbasket says:

McCain would be slugging his wife, if the Democrats started saying: “He’s China’s favorite candidate”; or, “The junta in Burma really loves Maverick.”
