Perino: Securing Afghanistan is ‘damn hard work.’»

During today’s press briefing, White House press secretary Dana Perino was asked about yesterday’s assassination attempt on Afghan president Hamid Karzai. She said she was “frustrated” by the fact that Afghan security forces weren’t getting the credit they deserved, adding that it’s “damn hard work” protecting against terrorist attacks:

Look, we have to be right every single time in order to prevent terrorist attacks. It is damn hard work. And I shouldn’t have probably said that word, but I am just really frustrated of thinking about how hard these Afghan security forces work and how much they are up against and how we have a responsibility to continue to stay there and help them.

Watch it:

Add “securing Afghanistan” to the Bush administration’s extensive list of failures it excuses away by calling it “hard work.”

Hard work, from a president who has spent more time on vacation than any other president. Maybe if W spent a couple minutes at the office, he might get more drinking - er, work done. It’s ‘Damn Hard Work’, she says safe and sound at home with her English husband. Is we learning yet?

Ahh, you don’t do so well with the ladies do you?

Absolutely!!! Woof, woof. I bet she likes it on all fours.

Lying and staying an ignorant Bush whore is such damned hard work!

  8. JMOHR Says:

It is amazing how every adventure starts off with how easy it will be, how we have succeeded (Mission Accomplished, Heck of a Job Brownie)with subsequent terrible results. Some would interpret this to mean that our leaders have a poor grasp of reality, over sell their own abilities, underestimate the tasks which they must complete and are just incompetent. However, we know better. Governing is just such hard work. You know, like FDR, JFK and Clinton found out. Were they not lucky to have avoided all of those tough situations?

Is it just me or are you all sick to death of these mouthpieces prefacing everything with, “Look..” as though we’re supposed to take them more seriously because they said that.

Look, of course it’s damn hard work! Did you bozos think it was going to be easy?! Look, it didn’t work out very well for the Soviets either. (Of course it probably didn’t help that we were supplying the mujahidin weapons and money - uh, oh, does that make us terrorists? Training and funding the resistance? Ooops.)

  10. mary Says:

o/t, StratRat - did you get some nookie this morning or something? Because it sure sounds like you have a one-track mind today!

  11. DieNowForPeace Says:

Methinks she redefines “mouth-piece” in the “catapulting the propaganda” business.

Excellent observation. It is sorta like when the saleman prefaces his pitch with “I’m going to be honest with you”. As if what he has to say will be honest. No way.

Dana uses “Look” as a way to bully some of the newscritters - not Helen. I guess when you are 4 ft. 3 in., and have an ass as big as all outdoors, you need something other than facts to get your point across.

  13. Badmoodman Says:

You bet it’s hard work, Dana, especially when the troops that should be there are bogged down someplace else.

What’s that, Dana…at the Bay of Pigs? Ummm, no dear..

I think M*A*S*H’s Frank Burns said it best: “Louise, you know when I married you I lost all interest in women”.

Not my intention - really. I just don’t think Ms. Perino is very attractive. Certainly not attractive enough to openly lie to us with her usual smirk. I wish she would decide to spend more time with her family.

  15. Ms_Joanne Says:

Mouthpiece? I wonder if she gives good, er, uhm, lies with that nasty piehole of hers! Yeah, that’s it…she gives good lies with the ugly mouth.

    God I hate that b1tch.

  20. Tired of being lied to Says:

I’ve always thought the use of “Look” is to say this: I don’t believe this crap either, but it is my job to get YOU to believe it. So I use ‘Look’ as if this is so obvious and you will be an idiot if you can’t see it, too.

  21. mary Says:

    StratRat - just kidding around.

Perino seems to be trying out her, “I’m just so frustrated that you all don’t appreciate how hard we all work at this” approach. Wah, wah, wah. Did she stomp her little feet?

    Whining is definitely NOT attractive.

  22. mary Says:

Tired of being lied to - you make a good point. It does come across as somewhat patronizing.

Btw, did you get a bumper sticker yet with that great moniker?

  23. rastaman Says:

HAHAHAHA….KARZAI BETTER NOT SPEAK UP AGAINST BUSH ANYMORE.

THE AMERICAN SECURITY FORCES MIGHT JUST LET A LAPSE IN SECURITY HAPPEN.

Thanks, McWars. Glad you liked it! I haven’t posted on it in forever but I really want to talk with 2MillionLightYears so I took a gamble and posted it.

Of course :) I’m sure it is difficult to go up in front of people - some of who know you will be lying to them - and do your thing. I am not defending little eva, just trying to understand what kind of motivation she must have (money, power, exposure, etc…). It still amazes me that the very same people who wrap themselves up in God, will be so blatantly dishonest with their own citizens.

  27. WaltTheMan Says:

I pity the poor woman. She has aged about ten years since she took the job over from Tony. Has she actuallly been able to sleep since 2006?

    God doesn’t like liars. :-D

usually one would expect someone with DP’s qualifications to be standing in front of a green-screen and giving us the weekly outlook.

..or showing passengers how to use their oxygen mask in case of an emergency.

…or asking if you’d like a hot apple pie with that.

  30. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

Interesting that so many of you are focusing on the messenger here instead of the message. It really doesn’t matter who says this nonsense. Truth is that Afghanistan has blown up and become increasingly volatile because we 1) were never really serious about getting rid of OBL (hence the escape from Tora Bora and failure to support the special force there); 2) moved into Iraq within a year to attack Iraq. This is the second time we’ve been involved in Afghanistan and both times with the same ultimate result. The first time, after covertly helping the Afghans defeat the Soviets, we immediately pulled out and failed to help build schools, hospitals, and such that were desperately needed in that war-torn country. The result was the rise of the Taliban, as well as the creation of AQ. This time around, we knocked the Taliban out in the first couple rounds, let OBL escape over the border into Pakistan, SILL failed to help the country rebuild…and now the Taliban are back and AQ in strength in the border area. Wow, what a surprise, huh? Just like the levees in New Orleans…”no one could have foreseen this.” Just like so many things, this administration take NO responsibility for ANYTHING.

  31. Ms_Joanne Says:

    #31…what s/he said!

I still hate seeing Dana Perino’s lying face. It’s almost a visceral reaction at this point. I cannot stand her.

I love it when you get sarcastic and are absolutely right at the same time… I can’t stop laughing…

They didn’t have any tough situations about only Social Security, Pearl Harbor, Bay of Pigs Invasion, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the building of the Berlin Wall, Operation Desert Fox, and Operation Allied Force…Not very noteworthy compared to the “Damn Hard Work” this administration has.

Not just what this administration has but what they brought on themselves!

  34. Erroll Says:

One can be sure that the Afghans believe that it is damn hard work trying to make sure that their houses and villages, along with their families and children, are not blown to pieces by American fighter jets.

And you would know this how , you empty headed bim ?

You don’t know the difference between the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis , and now you believe you’re an authority on security and counter-terrorism techniques ?

What the hell is with this horseshit administration ?????????

    From Perino:

It’s hard work coming up with sh|t loads of lies each day.
It’s hard work keeping my stupidity well honed.
It’s hard work making and serving the Ghoul-Aid everyday.
It’s hard work bleaching my hair while keeping the roots dark.
It’s hard work making sure I’m dumber than Tony Snow everyday of the week.
It’s hard work phucking over the entire nation everyday!!!

  37. Red Pill Says:

That skank wouldn’t know what hard work was if it jumped up and gave her a Cleveland Steamer.

    No

Just a stupid , dishonest one.

  40. Max-1 Says:

    .

I’m glad to see that Barbie Perino didn’t ask for the reporter to repeat himself and instead jumped into insta-defense mode, (on credibility) “… Let me just remind you…” Yes, please Dana Barbie, SELL it to me, SELL it to me.

And keeping the troops in Iraq ensures that Afghanistan will remain hard work and a life long commitment, or at least 100 years if McSame gets SELLected as Decider in Thief.

    .

  41. williamf Says:

The bullshit ditz is at it again. First of all, what does she know about hard work. Second, the job would be a lot easier if we had concentrated on the “Afghan problem” at the outset. But noooo, Bush had some hard work to do in Iraq. Can anyone say “I wanted the oil first.” Just watching Perino perform is laughable. Snake oil for sale everyone, step right up. She’s just too cute for words…yeah right.

  42. DallasNE Says:

Yeah, Bush pulled up stakes rather than do the hard work at Tora Bora and that mistake haunts us to this very day. Maybe if we had someone with even half a brain the work wouldn’t be nearly so hard. What we are seeing more than anything else is a total failure of leadership. Bush has provided America with no leadership from the day he stepped into that office. Not preventing 9/11 simply ripped the scab off the leadershipless wound. Iraq, Afghanistan and Katrina have also ripped the scab off.

  43. kassandrasduplex Says:

Weren’t we morally obligated to find the guy who was responsible for the 9-11 attacks who was supposedly in Afghanistan? Am I really clueless here? Guess so…
What are we actually doing in Afghanistan? Anyone, anyone?

  44. Jericho Says:

Oddly enough, for preventing terrorist attacks you have to be right all the time.

For preemptively striking terrorists, you can be as wrong as you want, as often as you want.

  45. SpoxLogic Says:

maybe, just maybe, it would’ve been a damn bit easier, if half of the soldiers in Iraq were in Afghanistan, instead. You know, securing the country and rooting out the Taliban! Little things like that.
