“Country music star Toby Keith had a performance in Afghanistan last week interrupted by mortar fire, according to his booking agent. Curt Motley, the agent, told The Oklahoman in an e-mail that the 46-year-old Keith was playing his song ‘Weed With Willie’ for troops during a USO Tour stop at a base in Kandahar, Afghanistan, on Thursday when mortar fire sent the singer and most of the about 2,500 soldiers in the crowd scrambling for shelter.”
Well as the mouthpiece against the Dixie Chicks that caused them years of grief I’d say with all the bad karma he’s wearing he’s lucky he made it out of there alive.
April 30th, 2008 at 8:41 pmAre they sure that wasn’t just their manager setting off dangerous pyrotechnics?
April 30th, 2008 at 8:50 pmAnd I should care ’bout dis?
Why?
Toby who??
April 30th, 2008 at 8:56 pmWhy dont they ever stage any classical music concerts for the troops? I’m sure there will be at least some interested. All of this ” my dog died and now my hat keeps falling off when it’s windy” MUST be dumbing down the troops. Maybe this makes them more naieve.
April 30th, 2008 at 9:07 pmThey should have charged the troops extra for that.

April 30th, 2008 at 9:08 pmHere’s an RPG up your ass courtesy of the Taliban.
April 30th, 2008 at 9:14 pmI don’t know who this guy is. I don’t know his songs.
But am I wrong in guessing Weed with Willie is about smoking with Willie Nelson?
If so, do our soldiers need to be encouraged ? And is this something one needs to sing in a strictly Muslim controlled environment ?
As the guy is apparently a Bush supporter, is this an example of conservative family values ?

April 30th, 2008 at 9:17 pm“weed with willy”?
April 30th, 2008 at 9:34 pmWell, they had to make him stop somehow…

If you have ever heard middle eastern music, Keith probably sounded like a dying dog howling to them =)
LOL

It’s his sad attempt to make a perfect country song.
For that it has to mention mama, trains, trucks, prison, or getting drunk.
=D
April 30th, 2008 at 9:55 pmFUTK ;) I believe his BIG MOUTH was the reason that Willie got pinched in 06. He (Keith) was on Colbert talking about smoking pot with W.N. approximatly a week before Willie’s bus got pulled over.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:03 pmAs I stated earlier HE was the guy badmouthing the Dixie Chicks for saying they were ashamed of George Bush. Cost them three years of their careers. HE’S rewriting history. I think because he started his own record label and is NOW trying to be politically correct in that industry. He’s an ass.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:18 pmI’ll throw in my own FUTK! After what you did to the Dixie Chicks and going on Colbert and espousing your patriotism (just a couple months ago), well, here’s an even bigger FCUK YOU!
You’re an ignorant, koolaid drinking, dumb$hit redneck. You are the antithesis of a good American.
April 30th, 2008 at 10:38 pmToby Keith “changed” his Pro-Bush, Pro-War stance when it because unpopular with 51% of the public. Sort of how you never hear from 50 Cent and Britney Spears much now on how they were/are big Bush and war supporters.
Half-Wits and mediocre talents, propped up by the same Ministry of Truth that cleanses information and tell half-truths and outright lies. Hearing these people “sing” has a very destructive and comical effect on the brain.
April 30th, 2008 at 11:03 pmI thought Toby Keith was a cartoon.
May 1st, 2008 at 7:00 amBillo has, on any given day, 8-12 million viewers on the 3 runs + out of contry…
As much as you may wish it were true not all of his viewers are Rushbots………
No, but their median age is about seventy. His viewers are a bunch of old cranks, who don’t influence anyone else’s vote patterns. If all of Bill’s listeners voted, it would be about equivalent to the state of New Jersey.
Big whoop.
May 1st, 2008 at 7:47 amI thought Toby Keith was a cartoon.
Well, his stuff is definitely cartoonish.
May 1st, 2008 at 7:49 amClue:
“… sent the singer and most of the about 2,500 soldiers in the crowd scrambling for shelter.”
Translation: Toby’s manager heard some rounds in the distance, filled his pants and pulled his boy off stage.
Most sounds like a journalists attempt to find a story.
May 1st, 2008 at 8:56 amWhy doesn’t the big mouth, inbred country boy just “Put a boot in their a$$”, cause, according to him “it’s the American way”.
Fcuking redneck dipshit.
May 1st, 2008 at 9:40 am#25 beat me to it.
May 1st, 2008 at 12:22 pmIf we agree that Afganistan should have been the appropriate front of the war on terror (instead of the distraction that Iraq has been), would you agree that once we de-emphasize Iraq (troop withdrawl) should we focus more troops in Afganistan?
I understand those who would respond that our troop strength has been reduced by Bush policy. Granted. But, if we seriously believe that Afganistan is a legitimate front on the war on terror, the troop strength argument doesn’t absolve us of the challenges we face in Afganistan.
May 1st, 2008 at 1:10 pmDamn, I hope Keith didn’t shit his pants like his good draft dodgin’ buddy Ted Nugent. Nugent boasted in the Detroit Free Press to urinating and defecating in his pants to avoid serving his country during Vietnam. Keith likes to be known as a real supporter of our troops yet he likes to keep company with cowards. Go sing your phony patriotic songs to your cowardly buddy Keith – Birds of a Feather.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:11 pmthanks for you.. nice post..b-sinema bursa
