The most unpopular president in modern history.

A new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll finds that 71 percent of the American public disapproves of the job President Bush is doing:

bushh.jpg “No president has ever had a higher disapproval rating in any CNN or Gallup poll; in fact, this is the first time that any president’s disapproval rating has cracked the 70 percent mark,” said CNN Polling Director Keating Holland.

“Bush’s approval rating, which stands at 28 percent in our new poll, remains better than the all-time lows set by Harry Truman and Richard Nixon (22 percent and 24 percent, respectively) but even those two presidents never got a disapproval rating in the 70s,” Holland added. “The previous all-time record in CNN or Gallup polling was set by Truman, 67 percent disapproval in January 1952.”

Public support for the Iraq war has also dropped to 30 percent, an all-time low.

Oh good! I got here before the first troll cited the approval rating of the “Democrat Congress”.

  12. misshusseinmolly says:

If his disapproval rating is 71% and his approval rating is 28%, this means (assuming figures add up to 100%) that only 1% of our people are neutral on this subject. The fact that 99% of us have an opinion about Dubya also has to be some sort of record.

My thoughts exactly! Sad that almost a third of the population can be described in these terms. Nothing but mindless sycophants. Worse yet, the have the right to vote.

  15. Buckie Boy says:

It should be 100%, for that is what this WAR CRIMINAL deserves.

  16. TheRadicalRightisRadicallyWrong says:

that last 29% will go to their graves worshipping the ground this monkey walks on. how pathetic!

Now the question remains, can enough of the 71% be swayed to vote for someone who will continue the failed policies of the monkey?

  17. DieNowForPeace says:

Well, even those who voted twice for the dunce can clearly see he has no intention, nor has he ever, of accomplishing anything other than abject failure in the eyes of the World.

    Iraq? No solution.
    Afghanistan? No solution.
    Economy? No solution.

In fact the only governmental “accomplishments” of his relate directly to his corruption, lies, and illegal behavior.

  18. LividLib says:

  20. misshusseinmolly says:

On my way into work this morning, I heard somebody say on NPR that what Reagan did for the Republicans, Bush is doing for the Democrats (this was part of a conversation about voter registrations, and the number of new voters signing up as Democrats for this election).

  21. raynman says:

For the inevitible, ‘what about the Democratic Congress’ approval ratings?’ troll… here’s something to think about.

Perhaps the reason why Congress’ approval rating is so low is that rather than listening to the will of the majority of the American people, it chose to continue to kowtow to the wishes of the petulent child that is our President. So, one can easily say that the disapproval rating of the Congress is another indication of just how poorly the American public think of Bush and his policies.

  23. ConcernedParent says:

Like the Daily Mirror’s front cover said ” How can 59,054,087 people be so DUMB”. Bush has become the anti-Reagan, showing that stupidity is not a favorable trait for a president.

A good portion of them will be swayed, and not because McCain is so wonderful (not even the best Madison Avenue has to offer will be able to pump charisma into him).

I expect the Republican to wage a campaign to vote AGAINST Obama (or Clinton, if she manages to finesse the nomination), rather than to vote FOR McCain. I expect the GOP to trot out their same old tired wedge issues (gays kissing, rampant flag burning, etc.) to get their obedient base to the polls. And then to sway as many of the rest of the sheeple as possible by flinging as much poop at the Democratic nominee as they can. If that’s Obama, expect Rev. Wright to go on long after his 15 minutes of fame are exhausted, and expect many references to Rezko, as well as the words “Muslim”, “madrassa”, “Hussein”, “flag pin”, etc. If it’s Clinton, the GOP will just take all the fund-raising letters they’ve been using for the past eight years and make them go national.

  28. Zimzone says:

22, raynman, I like your logic.

Let me add that Genghis Chimp will be the last to know the truth about how Americans feel about him. Bubble Bush lives in a world none of us are familiar with. The reason he had never heard about $4/gal gas is he hasn’t filled his own tank since college.

On second thought, his tank is empty now, & we’re running on fumes.

  29. nanlichi says:

Jesus Hussein Christ! 1 out of 3 people still can say that this POS is doing a good job? That is scary.

You can hear the sycophants now, he is doing the best he can, he was dealt a bad hand and is doing the best a person could do, wait 50 years and you guys will see that we were right all along.

Wrong! This puke’s ratings are caused by the choices he made and the results of those pathetic decisions.

It will take 8 years of President Obama to erase the shit stains of the simple simian.

I Would like to agree with that however, I don’t hold out much faith, considering a good portion in the 71% at one time supported the monkey and his screwed up policies. Makes me think, they too lack the critical thinking skills neccessary to know that “w” was a bad idea and invading Iraq was a badder idea.

The main reason I cannot and will not ever support Hillary is because she voted for the invasion and has not apologized for her mistake. She only admits the execution was bad, not the idea of it in the first place.

If I knew that all of the reasons given during the run up to Iraq were false all the way over here in Pittsburgh, without the benefit of all of the access that our congress and senate had to all of that “classified” information, then most certainly Hillary and all of the others that voted to authorize this mess should’ve known that as well!

  58. Marie says:

I met with a 40 yr old man yesterday – he’s a smart family man, but he says he cannot vote for a Democrat. Hence the start of our brief discussion (we were on the clock and supposed to be doing business). Low taxes and small government are his goals. I suspect he is a typical conservative: too busy to get all the facts, although he tries to catch the news; hates the war; regrets voting for Bush (but not enough to vote for Kerry)– hence Bush’s low popularity — but has been too long in the Republican column to change his party. He likes Obama, more than he likes Clinton, so I will try to sway him Democratic before November.

  59. republicanSScareme says:

Although he was the most unpopular president in modern history, Bush could lay claim to the fact that he was also the stupidest and most immoral President in modern history.
