Scandal-ridden contracting firm KBR reported today that its first quarter net profits more than tripled, from $28 million last year to $98 million this year. Despite at least a dozen former employees alleging they had been raped by coworkers in Iraq and other employees saying coworkers regularly stole gold, artwork, and weapons, KBR remains in the Pentagon’s good graces: In mid-April, it received a 10-year, $150 billion contract to support the military overseas.
If Bush wants a presidential library, perhaps KBR will build it on their property. He's been their fairy godfather for five years.
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:55 amDoes that include all the stuff they stole, from Iraq, or is that just the money they stole from US taxpayers?
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:57 amthese guys have been screwing people over for years, they were even in one of our contract law textbooks...they quoted some state X million dollars to build a tollway then told them halfway through that i was going to cost 10 times as much as quoted.. go figure.. some things never change..
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:57 amCorrection:
"$150 billion over 10 years to provide food, shelter and other services to U.S. troops overseas, including in Iraq and Afghanistan."
May 2nd, 2008 at 11:57 amBlood money...
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:03 pmKillBurnRape has been on the take from the get go...and the Bush Crime Family approves of looting the treasury, just look at all the graft, corruption and cronyism. Bush and Cheney are making sure those republican donations are pouring in by making sure their buddies get cash from the public coffers.
WORST, MOST CRIMINAL PRESIDENT IN HISTORY
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:03 pmSince these are all cost-plus contracts the profit comes directly out of the taxpayers' wallets. Rather than saving us money it is in the best interest of companies like KBR to drive up their costs so that the cost-plus equation ends up netting them more money. Since the oversight is non-existent there is almost zero chance of them being caught cooking the books.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:05 pmYou've got 1-2 more good quarters to go, Kill Bilk Rape (credit: Dr. Matt), and then you're out of business, or at least government business. Enjoy the incoming fines and legal costs.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:07 pmkbr -- raping the u.s. taxpayer; raping female colleagues.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:11 pmit's their business.
Wait a minute why a 10 year contract if troops will start being pulled out this summer ? Oh, right, that was bush's lie on bringing our military home.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:28 pmlinda Says:kbr — raping the u.s. taxpayer; raping female colleagues.
it’s their business.
...AND BUSINESS IS GOOOOD!
If you haven't already, watch "Iraq for Sale".
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:36 pmTanqueray Says:
Do you have a point?
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:37 pm"...$98 million this year. Despite at least a dozen former employees alleging they had been raped..."
Wow!!! More than $8 MILLION per rape! KBR sure hires some BIG studs or high-priced HOs.
Think of what King George the Dumb and Dick (and not because his name is Richard) would have made if we were charged for bushco raping the American public. No wonder we are in a recession with gasoline $4.00 per gallon and leg at $8 million a pop.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:56 pmHere's KBR's mission statement
Their profit triples. Where is the benefit to it's number #1 customer. Us, the american people.
May 2nd, 2008 at 12:57 pmOnly under this administration have we ever seen companies and political figures so richly rewarded, for the most heinous of crimes committed against men and women. People are getting sent to jail everyday with life sentences being imposed that have committed far lesser offenses.
Where is the justice when even the media forgos it's obligation to pursue stories like these. To find the answers and demand that these people be punished for rapes and theft instead of handsomely compensated.
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:00 pmFrom your link...Spokesman David Wade said Kerry, who staunchly opposes the war in Iraq, is one of many beneficiaries of family trusts that he doesn't control. Wade also noted that Kerry does not sit on the Appropriations Committee, which has direct control of the defense budget.
Did you even read the article, dufus?
I'm more concerned with darths buddys at Halliburton/KBR and their no bid and cost plus contracts.
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:11 pmKBR profits triple in one year, our soldiers are dying and these SOB`s are reaping in record profits, sounds like a profit winfall tax for these mother phuckers along with the oil cos and RX`s cos. I was listening to Tom Hartmann and a caller who receives medical supplies from Hospitals and redistributes them to local clinics for low income and the poor, he was called by a Mother of an Army Medic who was looking for medical supplies for his Unit in Iraq, how does this happen, KBR profits should be paying for this outrages scheme of dubya`s and DICK`s. Hang em High I say .
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:26 pmAnd behind it all, Dick Cheney
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:31 pmQuick, someone remind me why Dick Cheney got such a huge severance package to become VPOTUS?
How will Halliburton ever make that money back? *wringing hands*
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:33 pmOh come now robbez, Darth had NOTHING to do with those contracts...he told us so himself! (snark off)
May 2nd, 2008 at 1:41 pmImagine how much $$$$ is waiting in offshore, secret accounts for dickhead and brain-dead when their reign ends.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:32 pmMISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:32 pmThat mission would be the screwing of the American taxpayers.
