Oklahoma vet slams Inhofe for ditching Webb’s GI Bill.

On Tuesday, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) quietly withdrew his support from Sen. Jim Webb’s (D-VA) 21st Century GI Bill, and signed onto a competing proposal by Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC). Today, an Iraq war vet from Oklahoma, Miranda Norman, slammed Inhofe for leaving veterans behind:

Senator Inhofe is undermining America’s heroes, as they reach for the American dream. It’s insulting and a slap in the face. Not only has Senator Inhofe turned his back on legislation backed by every veterans’ group, but he signed on to a sham bill, because he thinks veterans are fools who won’t be able to tell the difference.

McCain’s proposal reserves its most generous benefits for those who signed up to serve before 9/11 or those who remain healthy enough — and uninjured — to serve for 12 years. VoteVets has more on why the McCain-Graham bill should be “flat out rejected.”

Why do the right wingers hate our troops so much?
McLame should be ashamed of himself, if he had any shame.

But is this not always the way of the Republican elite. They believe in a plutocracy. Leading conservative thinkers have always believed in creating a class society. We see it here. In this case, a military class forced into the occupation because they cannot find good paying jobs or educational opportunity. Forced to stay in the military to maximize benefits and come back into civilian society when too old for most to make a second career. By the way, thrown on the trash heap when injured.

Exactly what Cheney was saying when he said “Thankfully, we have an all-volunteer force.”

Notice that he didn’t even serve when called (five times).

How on earth could ANY veteran vote for McIIIrd?

  6. Badmoodman says:

Yeah, but afer all, she’s a woman soldier from Oklahoma. So technically she counts for about 2/5 of a real person.

    (cough)

    The GOP

Proving once again how their bumper-sticker platform slogans like “the party that supports the troops” are about as real and applicable as evidence of leprechauns existing……..

Republican mindset: Deployed troops=Heroes we should support
    Veterans=Used merchandise we should ignore

    Disgusting.

  9. Zimzone says:

    Inhofe the jerkoff.

I’m guessing he would be McIIIrd’s pick, (thx, RUC), for…
    A. Sec/Def
    B. Sec/State
    C. Sec/Interior
    D. Sec/Dumbshits

If you guessed ‘D’, you win a free weekend on the ‘Straight Talk Express’! Say hello to McFluff for me, please.

  10. RUCerious says:

Zimster, most welcome, feel free to use/abuse/embellish at will.
But Imhotep of the Okies is only qualified for D.

As much as I, a Vietnam veteran, desire veterans to receive the benefits that they are justly do, Iraq War veteran Miranda Norman’s description of those who served in Iraq is erroneous. She states that “Senator Inhofe is undermining America’s heroes…” American soldiers in Iraq, by belonging to a military that is oppressing and suppressing the Iraqi people, are not doing anything heroic. A better description of those soldiers who were and are in Iraq would not be heroes but rather victims of a governmental policy that placed them there unjustifiably. They were, as I was, fighting, not for their country, but rather for the lies that they were given by a corrupt government. Since no Iraqis have been storming the shores of the United States [just like no Vietnamese were attempting to land on the beaches of Los Angeles or New Jersey] I see no reason why the appellation hero should be applied to what U.S. forces are doing to the Iraqi people.

Bring them home-alive and in one piece-now.

The evidence indicates that James Inhofe is a member of the American Nazi Party.

Why isn’t the press covering this story ? Why don’t the Dems focus on how a ex-soldier won’t support the troops. Yea this is called SUPPORT, a word this nation has forgotten under the pretence of socializm. A country that wont support its troops, gives no health care to it’s people, is not interested in educating its populus will distroy itself in time. Why is it that other nations, with less GDP offer so much more to its people?? Have americans asked themselves that question? Watch , look , learn … http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com and find the real truth behind what you are told to view. Truth will set you free.
