The Daily Telegraph has unveiled the last installment of its list of the 50 most influential political pundits in America. Topping the list was former Bush political adviser, current Fox talking head, and covert McCain adviser Karl Rove. Rounding out the top 10 were: Chris Matthews, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Politico’s John Harris and Jim Vandehei, Drudge, Tim Russert, Jon Stewart, David Brooks, and Mark Halperin.
How sad is it that a comedy host is among the top ten most influential political pundits in America?
Maybe if most of the MSM hadn’t made itself irrelevant with its ridiculous coverage of politics , Jon Stewart would just be a comedian.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:06 pmAh, the right-wing American corporate slime machinesters seem to be “highly influential” in the right-wing Brit Daily Telegraph’s opinion. So we need to hear from Tory right-wing pukes about how wonderful our American right-wing pukes are? Puke.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:07 pmThey don’t call it the Torygraph for no reason.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:12 pmWell it sounds like the publisher of The Daily Telegraph must be Rupert Murdoch doesn’t it?
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:13 pmRove named top influential U.S. pundit.
Wait a minute. Why didn’t I get the memo about this? I always thought that recognition went to Jon Stewart.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:16 pmForget Rove. Chris freaking Matthews at #2 ?!? That must be some high grade crack the Brits are smoking. If you are going to pull names out of a hat at least make sure the ratings of everyone in your top ten justify paying the camera crew. I feel like drinking a toast to my ancestors for having the wisdom to depart that godforsaken inbred crackerbox when they had the chance.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:17 pmI love that Stewart’s on the list. Pretty big accomplishment, considering he hasn’t kissed any administration butt to get or keep his position.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:18 pm“One of these things in not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong. See if you can guess which thing is not like the others before I finish this song.”
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:19 pmAnd yet still another example of just how far we have fallen. Almost to a person, the folks on that list continue to lie to their viewers and audiences. Another example of how Bush turned this country upside down. I thought honesty would win awards, my bad.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:28 pmIn case you quys need a mid day laugh, take a look at this.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:28 pmWhat a telling list. It’s loaded up with right wingers saddled with Bush’s 71% disapproval rating. With that record, how can they possibly be called influential? More like the blind leading the blind.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:30 pmLet’s all be clear: Influential does not mean accurate, positive, intelligent, let alone qualified to voice opinions on whatever subject the person is supposed to be ‘pundit’.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:32 pmStewart and a band of fringe wackos. Poor Jon. I must be uninformed since I read nor listen to any but Stewart on that list. It is shameful for America. Maybe time to look at beign an expatriate.
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:32 pmThat’s one screwed up list of people. I like it that Stewart’s on there, but come on- what is wrong with “the public” and/or “the media” when that is the list??
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:34 pmGiven the Daily Telegraph’s list of ‘pundits’ I’d say not being knowledgeable was a requirement.
I like Stewart, but a pundit? C’mon now.
Unless they were trying to say that all these talking heads are little more than comedy acts too…
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:36 pmTypo there: “influential” is spelled “idiotic”. See, e.g., here.
Cheers,
May 2nd, 2008 at 2:53 pmI love how we are always told (lied to) that our media is so “liberal”. Yet who dominates the most influential lists? Whose radio shows get the most listeners? Whose cable news channel gets the most viewers? Which cable news show has the most viewers?
Right-wingers cannot have it both ways. They can’t both get all the viewers and listeners and also pretend the media overall is “liberal”.
It’s amazing the Democrats were able to win back the House and Senate in late ‘06 with such an obvious disadvantage when it comes to the media. Now that same media is hyping every Obama vs Hillary attack while ignoring blunder after blunder from McCain.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:00 pmSure does put the lie to “liberal” media!
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:03 pmAll right wing goons. The telegraph must play to the same tune.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:04 pmChris Matthews, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Drudge…and this is exactly why America has lost it’s way and is in the state that it is in…Reichwing Hate Radio and Reichwing TV propaganda has nearly destroyed the country.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:04 pmHmmm, I think Rove is also at the top of the list of those who have been subpoenaed, but then, I’m an Obamacrat.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:06 pm“Rove named top influential U.S. pundit.”
They misspelled “putz”.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:13 pmJust as I would predict: ten white men in the top 10. (I guess that makes me a top pundit, too.)
BTW, real pundits tend to be several shades darker than Mr. Rove, since the original meaning of the term “pundit” is a learned teacher of Sanskrit and Hinduism.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:29 pmI wonder if Rove will be able to drive McCains poll numbers lower than Bushs.
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:31 pm12. BILL O’REILLY
11. STEPHEN COLBERT
Take THAT, Papa Bear!
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:58 pmWith the possible exception of Jon Stewart, the rest of the top ten read like a Who’s Who of the Reich Wing.
So, a question for all the trolls out there — If your claims about the so-called “Liberal Media” are true (quite the opposite is actually the case), then this list should be dominated by those who are left of center. Who are these people? Rove, Hannity, Limbaugh, Drudge, Brooks, et al?
May 2nd, 2008 at 4:32 pm“Rove named top influential U.S. pundit.”
And I guess there is hope for the criminals in prison if Rove can be named the top influential U.S. pundit. What I want to know what were these clowns at the Daily Telegraph smoking when they came up with that list?
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:06 pmChris Matthews, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Drudge, Tim Russert,Drudge?
This is the gang of lowlifes that served as cheerleaders, propagandists and tools for the policies that drove this country off the road into a ditch.
What have we learned from this?
May 2nd, 2008 at 8:40 pmDO NOT trust or listen to “pundits”.
They are America’s greatest enemies.
How did Jon Stewart end up on that list of ten dollar thugs?
May 3rd, 2008 at 2:01 amOh c’mon! They didn’t say these twits were the BEST pundits, they said they were the most influential. And since they helped to elect George W. in 2004 and aren’t doing a half bad job with John McCain, I’d say they still are pretty damned influential. Wish they weren’t.
And since when does the presence of conservatives in another country make them fair game for insult? My ancestors came from that “inbred crackerbox”. Some of them still live there and they’re damned fine people. I must admit though, I AM glad my grandparents didn’t emigrate to the US, though I wouldn’t insult you over it.
May 3rd, 2008 at 5:40 amI just love how these mother f’ers stick together. Will I be blessed with day that is RIGHT free. People who think! People who see behoned today and tomorrow! People who understand the greater good. People who are progressive thinkers with a brain.
The only good peace of mind I have is knowing these RIGHT WING idiots are always in the minority.
PIGS GET FAT AND HOGS GET SLAUGHTERED….did you hear that REPUCKLICANS…..IDIOTS
