Bush loyalist Fran Townsend joining CNN.

Last month, President Bush appointed his former Homeland Security Adviser Fran Townsend to the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board. Now, Townsend is picking up another job. Politico’s Mike Allen reports today that Townsend will be joining for Bush Press Secretary Tony Snow as a CNN contributor.

Well, I’ll be kissing off CNN.

In fact, screw the majority of the MSM. Lately, they all seem to be going the way of Fox News. I’ll just get my news from NPR from now on.

Is this the fate of CNN, to be filled with bush loyalists?

CNN = Contemptible Narcissus Network, the #1 Inane talking parrots in the world

  7. wjbill says:

Could CNN be trying to become another “outlet” for conservative dialog? They will end up stealing audience from Fox and right wing talk radio. I personally don’t have time for any of that anymore, too bad so many have not learned yet.

  8. Exit Stage Left says:

Don’t these morons realize this bunch of criminals is gone soon? Or do they know something we don’t?

  9. And Yet... says:

That’s it for me watching CNN, & I’ve been watching them since their inception. They only get lousier not better, this being the latest example.

  13. Marie says:

Another contemptible move by CNN the Fox wannabe channel.
Is this a lame attempt by CNN to capture the viewers who are abandoning FOX?
Whatever — it is a move like this that will bring down CNN more to the level of FOX as a propaganda network.

Did’t work that well in Vietnam. I think CNN is just using a stupid business model of trying to out GOP FOX. They will get burned and then try to out Dem MSNBC. NOT that I think MSNBC is some sort of stalwart of dem vocalizations, at least they do have Keith and give Rachel talk time. CNN is looking for middle ground prolly too late to the party ad palying catchup in a poor attempt to appeal to the independents.

  15. Ms_Joanne says:

The corporate media is worried… They need a gooper in office so they are preparing the lie machine now. They must have a friend in the president – and the president needs his/her media whores. The CM sucks as much as two goopers running right now.

  18. curmudgeon says:

When will the loyal subjects in this country finally figure out that relying on the MSM to inform their worldview is not unlike trying to learn the secrets to a long life from a grossly overweight, promiscuous, chain-smoking, alcoholic and drug-addicted physician?

  19. Freedom Rebel says:

MSM has become so conservative with it’s commentators this country now only has one voice, one view, and absolutely no balance.

  20. Fred says:

I’m with ms Joanne, msm don’t want to actually have to work to make a living….just like all republicans they want to earn big money but not actually have to do anything to earn it. Besides they have an agenda, it aint the same as ours.

  21. Bullsmith says:

As we finally get closer to ridding ourselves of the disastrous Bush administration, CNN steps in and makes sure their venemous spin will continue to pollute the discourse. What a wonderful decision.

  22. tarazan says:

Very soon all of major television talking heads will be an ex-government employees from both parties.
CNN , Fox ,and newspapers already have good number of them employed .
Is this the future media trend?
We already seen the Pentagon using retired officers to sell the Iraqi war.

  23. Midland says:

Ah! The endless competition among the big news networks to become America’s Pravda.

Sure beats running a REAL news organization. You get invited to better parties.

  24. MCMetal says:

Townsend resigned her post on November 19, 2007. In her resignation letter, Townsend paid tribute to President Bush by saying: “In 1937, the playwright Maxwell Anderson wrote of President George Washington: ‘There are some men who lift the age they inhabit, til all men walk on higher ground in their lifetime.’ Mr. President, you are such a man.”

How heartwarming of CNN to give out opportunities
to someone who is obviously mentally retarded…………

  25. hanshiro says:

Is there any doubt about the credibility of the MSM? I was always under the impression that the 4th estate sought qualified journalists.

This is indeed a new age, where stories aren’t judged by newsworthiness, but by emotional exploitability.

The MSM steered this country to war, sitting on certain stories while emphasizing others to shove an already shocked and reeling nation backwards into the worst foreign policy thresher in US history. Treasonous is not too strong a word to describe the current corporate control and manipulation of information and news.

This is how cancer grows…by infecting formerly healthy, viable cells. It’ll get darker.

  26. curmudgeon says:

Speaking of the administration’s habit of paying various so-called “pundits” to push their propaganda (anyone remember the story about the Bushies paying Armstrong Williams $240,000 to promote the No Child Left Behind program and Ken Tomlinson’s use of “political tests” for hiring the president and CEO for the Center for Public Broadcasting in 2005?).

    The following may be instructive:

“See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda.” George W. Bush — May 24, 2005

And the following four statements were made by the same individual:

“The rank and file are usually much more primitive than we imagine. Propaganda must therefore always be essentially simple and repetitious.”

“Not every item of news should be published. Rather must those who control news policies endeavor to make every item of news serve a certain purpose.”

“It is the absolute right of the State to supervise the formation of public opinion.”

“The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of it’s powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.”

Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Propaganda Minister, 1933-1945

  29. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

So. That’s not surprising. Ex Bushies need to find a job some place. I’m thinking that the only employment they can find is either with lobbyists or on Fox. Everyone else finds them toxic.

Just the other day a buddy of mine who isn’t very political referred to CNN as the liberal news station. He didn’t mean it in a disparaging or cynical way, he actually thought it was.

It’s amazing how well the right has perpetrated the myth that all but Fox News are liberal media bastions even when the line-up of talking poodles at all the major networks is heavily tilted right.

  47. sacopenapa says:

‘WAR ON DEMOCRACY’ by John Pilger is an excellent documentary. All his other works are brilliant! Watch also ‘STEALING A NATION’ which shows the suffering of the people of Diego Garcia, who were evicted from their land so the USA could build a military base there. I’m from South America, I’m very familiar with the issue mentioned on ‘War on Democracy’. Recently Colombia inavded Equadorian territory to kill member of the FARC organization. all this with the backing of Washington.

WAR ON DEMOCRACY, a film by John Plger. YOUTUBE IT!

    Democracy now !

  51. Druthers says:

During wars there are always underground newspapers. That is what the net has become, an alternate news media in the war this administration and the media are waging against the American people. Even more effective that flipping off the TV is not purchasing the products they advertise.
There are so many old fashioned ways to replace them. Ex: light a kitchen match to remove odors from the air; it works and it is cheap.

  54. helenahandbasket says:

and CNN becomes more irrelevant. Wonder where bushie will be doing his commentary?

  55. Robt says:

Looks like these ex Bushies either can’t find work in their prospective fields because,

-They are unqualified in the private sector.

-Off shoring has left no opportunity here for them.

-The desperate only work they can find is the TV circus.

Yet I implore CNN and the other networks. America has seen enough of these people and what makes the networks think its viewers want to see more of these Bushies(20%’ers).

It must be an obligation to employ the Bushies because of the medias knotted inclusion in the White House. Rove is another. Does America really want to see more of Rove and on TV?
It seems difficult for Alberto to land a job. Is there any speculation on which network he will end up on?

And where is Scooter, Rummy? Wolfowitz got fired from the world bank to return to workking for the State Dept and Condi Rice because he could not find work in the private sector.

    Republicans creating jobs (for republicans).
Doesn’t it make things fit into respetective irony over the condition our country is in in regards to these Bushies that are not able to find private sector work with their so called White House resume and qualifications?

After all, Townsend was in Homeland Security and CNN owes her a job and salary? For what? What possible lies could CNN want her to espouse?

Makes one wonder if it is a hush job for her possible involvement with the Petagon/generals/Iraq war propaganda scheme.

So which network hires Alberto (torture boy) Gonzales?

  56. lapdogs says:

I just “Fox-ated” my remote control to bypass CNN whenever I hit the next/previous channel button on my remote.

Every network is trying so hard to OUTFAUX FAUX, that FAUX has a lot of catching up to do with their propaganda for “Bush”.

And other than Keith Olbermann, MSNBC has been deleted also.

I’m sticking with Democracy Now!, RealNews.com, Bill Moyers Journal, Frontline and the internet(s), along with Foreign Newspapers that still have the guts to report what is really going on in DC, Iraq and Afghanistan (remember that war) – to keep up with the UNreported Real News we should be seeing on our televisions.

Anyone making the above insane comment needs psychiatric care and monitoring ; not a cable news network job to spew fictional crap spun out of whole cloth to try and defend the worst president and administration in US history…………….

  58. SP Biloxi says:

Well, this is telling you that jobs are plentiful for the
Bush’s lackeys. Real sad that CNN and MSNBC have now become the Fox News clone.

You know, CNN being such a left-leaning outlet and all.

    RICEMUSTGO.COM

I know this is out of context here, but it is a very serious issue! Rice lied about ‘The USA does not Torture’, while she was having secret meeting in the WH formulating the USA TORTURE PROGRAM. It is a crime under US law and it is a crime under International Law!!!! Please, tell everybody, don’t let this go away. Don’t be silence by a connivent MEDIA. It is a pathway to restore US’s credibility and to Heal your country which has been hurting since 9/11.

Frannie evidently feels the same about Saudi King Abdula:

Let me finish by sharing a quote with you written by an American playwright that I keep
in my top desk drawer at the White House. I keep it because although it was written about
President George Washington but it reminds me of President Bush whose vision of
freedom has led to the liberation of 50 million Muslims from tyranny and oppression in
Iraq and Afghanistan. I share it with you because now, given all he has done for Saudi
Arabia and those in need, it is a quote that applies to King Abdullah: There are some men
who lift the age they inhabit, till all men walk on higher ground in that lifetime.

Angela Davis could kick Fran Townsend’s butt 20 ways to Sunday in any fair debate.

  65. The Shadow says:

CNN has become the new Fox (fake) News channel of the 21st Century. The idiots who run CNN are trying to appease the rightwing idiots so they hire two advisor to the worst President in American history. That’s it for me, I’m not watching CNN anymore. They can appeal to the racist extremist Republican Party and go the way of the dinosaurs as far as I’m concerned. Goodbye CNN it was nice while it lasted, but I can no longer watch a network ran by idiots, composed of Bush loyists, and designed to attract the worst type of people in our society.

  66. MOONBAT says:

I haven’t watched CNN in a few years. I don’t know many that do either. Right now I am watching reruns of MASH.

If I want more laughs I will watch FAUX. It is unbelievable how much they are promoting Hillary. I guess it is because independants and others have said they would vote for McCrazy than Obama or Hillary. Screwballs, all of them.

  67. stateofthedivision says:

Jack Cafferty needs to ask Fran why she left out the hospital with the largest number of patient deaths post Katrina from the White House “Lessons Learned” report. LifeCare lost 24 patients during and after the storm. Then he needs to follow up with, “Did The Carlyle Group ask you to leave their new affiliate out of the promised robust investigative report?” Sic her Jack!
