Bolton: Striking Iran ‘Is Really The Most Prudent Thing To Do’»

Yesterday morning, Fox News interviewed former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton to discuss whether America is close to striking Iranian targets, as new reports indicate the Bush administration is drawing up plans for a “surgical strike.” Bolton said that while there are “obviously risks associated” with a strike on Iran, the risks of not doing something are “far higher” at this point.

Fox anchor Jaime Colby asserted, “The Brits think we overestimate the threat of Iran in this particular case. Are they right or wrong?” Bolton — who has previously claimed that the “mullahs in Iran” want a Democratic president in 2008 — responded:

I think they’re dead wrong on this. I think this is a case where the use of military force against a training camp to show the Iranians we’re not going to tolerate this is really the most prudent thing to do. Then the ball would be in Iran’s court to draw the appropriate lesson to stop harming our troops.

Fox anchor Colby reacted to Bolton’s war cries by concluding — without sarcasm — “That’s a good message to end on. Thank you.” Watch it:

Bolton has asserted that preventive war against Iraq “did work” and “achieved our strategic objective.” Moreover, he has openly stated that the U.S. should have no interest in the well-being of Iraqis.

Bolton’s unquenchable appetite for a military conflict with Iran is easy to understand, given that he cares so little about the disastrous consequences that follow from war.

Digg It!

UpdateIn the Wall Street Journal, Fouad Ajami writes, “Before we tackle that Persian menace, the Iranian theocrats will have to be shown that there is a price for their transgressions.”

As does all of our own 16 intelligence agencies. Are they dead wrong as well?

More likely it is Bolton who is wrong…

Bolton is a PNACer extraordinaire. He is from the group that has wanted to take the oil from Iraq and Iran for more than a decade. Notice who singed the letter in the link above? Yup, none other than Bolton. Then peruse the site and see how many of those warmongering, whack jobs are in our government now. It’s truly frightening.

And they leave that site out there like they are proud of themselves for it all. It’s disgusting.

As for the WSJ…someone tell me why anyone reads it any longer.

As does Adm. Mullen apparently since he said he doesn’t want us involved in a conflict with them (for other reasons, like our overstretched military. But you’d think if they really were such a threat and attacking was the only prudent thing to do, he wouldn’t be saying he wants to avoid conflict right?)

The Congressional Democrats failure to stand up and be the 1st branch of government must bear the responsibility for not stopping this criminal regime which continues to lead our nation off a cliff. The are delusional psychopathic morons who create their own reality and then act on it. They have violated their oaths to protect and defend the constitution and redefine laws to meet their own desires.

It is now probably too late to impeach and remove this violent offender, and we can only hope that the spineless gamble the congressional leadership has made will pay off.

When Iran is hit, the Straits of Hormuz will be impassible. Oil will double again, and the dollar will continue to fall. More servicemen will die. Heckuva job chimpy.

  20. The Shadow Says:

If this idiot wants to strike Iran so bad, I saw good. Lets put him in a single jet bomber and send him over Iran as many times as it takes to knock out their nuke sites and military bases. I’m sure it will be a piece of cake. It’s not like he’ll get shot down or cause gas prices to go over 8 dollars a barrel. I mean what can go wrong, it’s not like the Iranians are going to defend themselves, or start even more terrorism around the world. If the oil markets are in a panic right now, just imagine what they will do when they realize that Iran will cut off most if not all of the oil coming from Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. Apparently this fool forgot that the Saudi Oil fields would be a target for Iranian planes, and terrorists to attack in case we attacked them first.

I guess our economy can survive 8 dollar a gallon gas just to please his need to attack someone. When he was younger enough to join the military during Viet Nam, he chose to sit it out. Now he want’s to be Rambo with other people’s children blood, limbs, and lives. This is one of the bravest and smartest men on the planet for his Republican supporters, but to me he’s a dumbass moron who wants to be tough. Go place General somewhere else you stupid ass, all of our slots are currently filled.

‘Bolton was in South Korea on an AEI assignment when he received a call from long-time mentor James Baker, who was leading the charge on the Florida recount in 2000. Baker told him to get on the next plane, which he did. After working as a lawyer with the Republican team in Florida, he grabbed reporters’ attention when he burst into a Tallahassee library announcing ”I’m with the Bush-Cheney team, and I’m here to stop the count.”‘

The oil companies are ridding the middle class of their money quickly enough so the elites are going to drive oil up to $10 to make sure we’re all part of the permanent underclass. 36. Kay Says:

    from Alex Jones:

Either Americans do not understand what it is they are preparing to do, or they think themselves immune to the consequences. The planet is not large. What goes around, comes around. Smoke from the Gulf War oil fires went around the world and was detected in South America. Radioactive fallout from bombing a nuclear reactor will also go far, especially considering that it has millions of years to make the trip.

The Persian Gulf nations of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and Iran have more than half the world’s known oil reserves. The 1981 study by Fetter and Tsipis in Scientific American on “Catastrophic Releases of Radioactivity” estimated that bombing a nuclear reactor would cause 8600 square miles around the reactor to be uninhabitable, depending on which way the wind blows. Bombing the Bushehr reactor will mean half of the world’s oil is instantly inaccessible. Bombing Iran means that Americans will not be driving cars any where, any more, for a long, long time. The American Way of Life will be finished. An economic collapse unimagined by Americans will follow. Mechanized farming and food transport will be finished. Famine is a possibility. Food riots are a certainty, in the land of plenty, with the fuel gauge on empty

  37. CitizenX Says:

So obviously an act of war against Iran would justify Iran going to the UN and demanding that the UN assist Iran with it defense against an attack rogue state.

Or perhaps an act of war against Iran would justify their air force targeting military installations on the mainland US.

The prevailing winds generally blow east-northeast, from the Arabian peninsula across Iran into Central Asia, Pakistan and India. I don’t think there’d be much effect on Saudi oil fields, but there would be a definite effect on the oil fields where Russia and China get much of their oil diet.

  46. Peter C Says:

One of the drawbacks of not pursuing impeachment is that people like Bolton maintain a aura of sham-respectability. If only such people were known to be “ex-cons” as well as “neo-cons”; their damage to the world would be lessened.

Gas at $8.00 a gallon? Try $20.00 a gallon. Why?

    - War with Iran limits oil coming out of the middle east

How much oil will be exported from the entire region?

    - Who else do we get it from?

Let’s see: Russia? Yeah, our friends there who are so concerned about Bush’s Missle Shield that they are building new missile bases themselves; South America? Right, Chavez is Bush’s number one supporter.

If we see $8.00 a gallon we’ll be damn lucky! But I think that’s the point.

  60. bluestatedon Says:

I’m totally in favor of the US Air Force bombing Iran as long as John Bolton is strapped to the first bomb, followed by William Kristol and Dick Cheney on the second and third. It would give “Kristol Meth” and “Five Deferments” Cheney one last opportunity to do themselves what they’re so eager for others to do: die for their country. Let’s also load up an entire 747 with all the fine patriots at FoxNews and do a kamikaze run at a dam in the Iranian countryside. These fine men and women are so eager for a war with Iran that surely they would welcome the opportunity to give their lives as well. Heroic sacrifices like this, repeated many times by Bush-loving Republicans and their supporters in the mainstream media, would leave the United States a better country.

  61. robertsgt40 Says:
