Ledeen one-ups Bolton: It’s ‘time to attack’ Iranian AND Syrian terror camps.

ledeenweb.jpgYesterday, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton announced on Fox News his belief that “the use of military force” against Iranian training camps “is really the most prudent thing to do.” Responding to a Telegraph report on his comments today, American Enterprise Institute scholar Michael Ledeen declared that Bolton is “right.” Adding that he’s “been proposing this for years,” Ledeen also said that “we should do the same thing to the Syrian camps as well.”

How long has he been putting a question mark after his “Faster, please” though? It isn’t like him to sound tentative.

  2. questioneverything says:

Oh, them again. There used to be a tradition of driving antisocial members of a community out. It’s time to send Ledeen and Feith and Rove and Kristol and Cheney and Bush and Pearl and Kagan and all of their worshippers to someplace nice and warm–like Guantanamo. We paid to build it. Let’s use it for a better purpose.

Anybody notice a pattern here, the most vocal war hawks are Jewish Zionist intellectuals…
Those of us opposed to the invasion and appalled by Israel’s treatment of the Palestinians, stunned by the murder of Rachel Corrie, and having read the Ha’aretz article White Man’s Burden, can’t help but feel some antipathy to the Zionists.
If you haven’t read the Ha’aretz article, I recommend it.

  4. ConcernedParent says:

Man these guys must be bored, there should be a neocon survivor series. If you get voted out they cinder block your feet and dump you in the ocean. The winner gets to keep the island and do whatever they wish on it, attack the whole world if they want to. Either way we all win!

  6. RUCerious says:

Neocons are never correct, their PNAC credo puts Israel’s interests ahead of America’s, to our detriment and peril. These traitors should be called out and prosecuted for treason.

  7. Merlin says:

Ledeen is one of the worst of the neocons. If you doubt that, read his book. This is the ideolog he preaches and lives! And he is called an “American Enterprise Institute scholar.”

    Here is an excerpt.

    Machiavelli on Modern Leadership
    Michael Ledeen

From the chapter: The War of Politics
A prince, Machiavelli warns, “must have no other objective or other thought or take anything for his craft, except war.” meaning that the virtues of the warrior are those of all great leaders of any successful organization.

…the myth that peace is normal, produces a solvent strong enough to dissolve the strength of our armed forces and the integrity of our political and military leaders. The supreme importance of the military and the morale that binds fighting men together derive from the recognition that, without them, our enemies will kill or dominate us.

From the chapter: Of Good and Evil
Leave us to our own devices, and all hell breaks loose. Give us total freedom, and we will reenact The Lord of the Flies. We are “more ready for evil than for good.” Therefore we must not be left to our own devices. We must be forced or, under ideal circumstances, convinced or inspired to do good. This can be done, and the results have been spectacular.. Properly led, we can achieve glory. And since we will do anything to satisfy our ruinous impulses, all manner of nastiness may be required to keep us under control, and to defeat our enemies.
There’s the rub: In order to achieve the most noble accomplishments, the leader may have to “enter into evil.” This is the chilling insight that has made Machiavelli so feared, admired and challenging. We are rotten, it is true, but we can achieve greatness if, and only if, we are properly led.We are prey for our fellow men, yet with great leaders we can prevail.

If you want to lead, you must demonstrate your ability to rule your own people and defeat your enemies, and the only way is to show your power. You “must presuppose all men are criminal, and that they will always use the malignity of their spirit whenever they may have free occasion.”

A prince must not worry about the reproach of cruelty when it is a matter of keeping his subjects united and loyal.

From the chapter: How to Rule
The tools of discipline-arms, laws, and religion-are common to all well-constituted states. All three compel men to repress their dangerous instincts and act virtuously. This is accomplished by fear. Without the fear of God no state can last long. Rewards and punishments should make a forceful impression on the citizens. Machaivelli insists that no mercy should be shown in enforcing the law, even to those who have earned gratitude of the nation for past acts. Moreover the law should not merely be enforced, it should be given grandeur. Punishment, including executions, should be public, so that the fearful effect is magnified. Religion should not be merely observed, it should be celebrated. If the stagecraft is successful, the leader will have less trouble maintaining order.

Actually. most Americans believe in bombing Israel.

  9. hellinabucket says:

Bolton is prudent? riiight. And Felix Unger is messy, Tom and Jerry love each other and Bush knows what he’s been doing for the last 8 years.

Let’s just attack everyone and take all the oil and stuff for us!

Hillary and McCain are solidly in the pocket of the Israel/Likud/Zionist interests.

Obama is to a lesser degree, but Zbignew Bryzenski makes me nervous.

Is everyone trying to out-Lieberman/Pelosi the other?

  13. rockyroad says:

After recounting how Laura Bush killed her former boyfriend on a different website, I really needed a break . . . to break from morbidity to a giggle. . . thanks for this . . . leaders of our military say that it is impossible for the US to put 7,000 more troops into Afghanastan, and you want to invade Iran . . . brilliant.

    giggles ;>) Idiot.

  14. GSD says:

These two dildos should suit-up and head to the front lines if all they are going to do is plot wars.

  15. rockyroad says:

Bush campaigned for his father during his tenure, Cheney took three deferrments, if you think either one is combat worthy, you’re nuts. I’d flee to Canada before I serve under either.

Unfortunately, more than 4,600 have lost their lives fighting for a war borne of both.

  16. rockyroad says:

    4,600 dead.

Think about that. Did either Bush or Cheney think of serving? Did they think that perhaps their children or grandchildren should serve? No, it was a question completely off the table. Why? Because they have their nails done, they attend college and their futures are far more significant than yours or mine.

Essentially, their blood is bluer. Can’t have blue blood splattered on a battle field of your father’s making.

You should most definitely carrying on the family tradition, getting DWI’s at home and slamming Myanamar for its fascist government’s failure to alert its people to a hurricane that could wipe out neighborhoods, kill people and ruin a coastal population for weeks if not months. How could they possibly have been so negligent? Eh, George? Doin’ a hell of a job, Bush.

  17. Above the Clouds says:

There are still neocons out there showing their faces in the light of day? In the unlikely event McCain falls ass-backward into the White House in November, my hope is these disgraced neocon clowns will keep hiding under their rocks.

  18. flex says:

How can we stop these warmongering Bush extremists from starting a Nuclear WW3? Why does the destruction of all living things bring them joy?

ah jeez – it was bad enough having to put up with bolton after a fairly blissful period not seeing or hearing from him and now this twat is backing him – do these fu(kin think tank drop-kicks ever get anything right? – along with kristol,o’hanlon et al these guys get everything fu(ked sideways with their predictions and reccommendations – pity that a think tank isn’t actually a tank that you can fill will water and slam shut

  22. Cal Malenky says:

Strap Bolton AND Ledeen to the first bombs dropped, like Slim Pickens in Dr. Strangelove.

GEORGE W. BUSH and RICHARD B. CHENEY ARE war criminals…

Yet, the cheerleaders continues for bigger, badder war criminals from America.

America, your President and Vice President are war criminals… The world watches and awaits a proper reaction…

    … crickets…

When will Think Progress get a heading for WAR CRIMES?

    .

  25. Gregor Samsa says:

Seriously, is there a country in the world not on the neo-cons’ “let’s bomb it now” list?

I guess as long as it’s a country full of dark people who talk funny, mass killings, torture, and rape are a-ok…

  26. americangoy says:

    Does not sound right.

Perhaps Israeli agent of influence is the correct phrase to use…

Why isn’t Ledeen in jail yet for trading National Security secrets with Italy??

  28. 1984 says:

“No stages. This is total war. We are fighting a variety of enemies. There are lots of them out there. All this talk about first we are going to do Afghanistan, then we will do Iraq … this is entirely the wrong way to go about it. If we just let our vision of the world go forth, and we embrace it entirely and we don’t try to piece together clever diplomacy, but just wage a total war … our children will sing great songs about us years from now.” A Hitler quote? Nope, Ledeen @ AEI 10/29/2001

  29. 1984 says:

Well, not that Hitler spoke about Afghanistan and Iraq but the tone of it is similar.

  30. Jackie says:

Yes Jewish Leaders in the US as pushing for the United States to attack the Middle East for Isreal. Notice how Syria is waiting after the illegal attack Isreal did on Syria. Americans better wake up and see we’re being used. If the US attacks Iran or Syria there will be a Nuclear War and we wont win. We have a weak Military and not one American will sign up to fight. If the draft is opened Americans will use the Dick Cheney 5 deferment or move to Mexico or Canada. Yes Russia has already said they will defend an illegal attack on Iran. Notice how Dubai, Jordan, the Saudis and other Middle Eastern countries aren’t getting involved they will just sit back and watch. The US has no allies anymore because of the lies from the past 7 years. The World is watching the election for President. If McCain gets in office pack your bags and start driving out of the country. If Obama gets in office Mrs. Obama will have to tell him what to do as she does now. Americans don’t want Hillary because from 1992 to 2000 life was good in American as the stock market was strong, many jobs, affordable education, savings accounts, vacations, job bonuses, buying a home and so much more. But we don’t want that type of life anymore in America we want our Government and Law Makers to be stupid and corrupt. We want another Great Depression and we love having the rest of the countries hate us for torture, invasions and murder. We no longer have a Justice System so we’re no different then undeveloped countries. We even watch Americans beg for help while they die live on TV. Our Media spreads propaganda while we watch American Idol. Our troops are dying in the Iraq Civil War and we are using taxpayers money to build Disneyland in Iraq so it can get bombed.

Any American with a brain should invest in the Middle East because those countries will do very well for the next 10 years. Oil prices will go up and the Foreigners will buy America as the USA will be for sale.

  36. Klem Kiddilehopper says:

    Ledeen background:
Never served in the military, was deeply involved in Iran-Contra,was accused of being involved in the yellow-cake forgeries, proponent of war anywhere, any time!
Just a all around chicken-hawk that doesn’t mind letting some sone else do the fighting for him!
More than likely, one of Cheney’s secret sack-time buddies!

  37. galmud says:

If its OK US attacks Iranian and Syrian “training-camps” allegedly training militias fighting US troops inside Iraq..

..then it should be even more justifiable for al-Sadrs Mehdi army fighters to sneak in to South Carolina and blow up Shaw Air Force Base outside Sumter

Thats HQ of the 9th Air Force currently deployed in Iraq and likely responsible for killing hundreds of Iraqi civilians in Baghdad the past few months. Tuesday last week US airstrikes killed 30 Iraqi civilians (12 children) in Sadr city.

Picture, if you will, a nearby farm:

    “Eustis?”

    “What, George?”

[motions to laborers, taking a break from picking tobacco in the field]

“Where’d ya’ll get them Mexicans from?”

“Came up from Florida, ’s what they tol’ me. Why?”

“Why are they all kneeling in one direction?”

    “I dunno; maybe they’re Cubans.”

Some people, like Ledeen, should never be allowed to read history books, as they think thats the way to the future.

Ignorance of history does not cause man to repeat the past, it is re-using history that does so.

  42. GeeDubs says:

Mr. Ledeen, if you would like to go to Iran or Syria to do a little smash-up, by all means do so. Just leave the United States out of it, okely dokely?

As a Military Mom I have a right to speak and remember. My daughter got home safe from the illegal invasion, my son died. You on the other hand sit back and cheered on the criminals that sent our soldiers to Iraq based on lies. So my comments are from what really happen in the past. As you well know behind every great man their is a great woman. As you celebrate Mothers Day try to remember the word Mother and just how strong real woman are. Republican or Democratic woman should be honored as Mothers, wives, Aunts and sisters. Sick minded people speak from their be hind.
