The Wall Street Journal reports that former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani “is now trying to get his newest client, a heavyweight boxing champion, elected mayor of Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.” Giuliani’s consulting firm, Giuliani Partners LLC, has signed a contract with the candidate:
Wednesday, the former New York mayor will announce a contract for strategies to root out corruption with Vitali Klitschko, the retired boxer known as “Dr. Iron Fist” because of his doctorate in sports science from Kiev University. […]
The announcement at Nasdaq in Times Square is meant to highlight Mr. Klitschko’s commitment to bringing U.S. businesses to Kiev, a goal that drove him to hire Giuliani Partners to root out corruption.

I assume “rooting out corruption” is neocon-speak for voter suppression. They couldn’t have chosen a more suitable scumbag.

May 7th, 2008 at 10:00 amI’m not going to make any jokes about Giuliani fighting corruption…I’m sure by the time this is posted at least 5 people will have beaten me there. But this little gem, completely non-political, caught my eye:
known as “Dr. Iron Fist” because of his doctorate in sports science from Kiev University. […]
His what in WHAT now?
May 7th, 2008 at 10:03 amWhat a joke! Hiring the mafia to “root out corruption” - where’s Bernie Kerick?
May 7th, 2008 at 10:08 amRudy who?…Oh, him. I’ve long ago forgotten about him. You might try doing the same, TP. At least until the time he is actually indicted for something, he is irrelevant.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:10 amDitto to the above. What is it about the Neocons ?
Giulliani to root out corruption .
Kerick for FEMA
Dr. Phil cures Britany Spears in 10 minutes - even though Phil doesn’t even have a doctorate.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:12 amAnd this guy was the media’s darling for President??
What does that say about the media’s current crush on McCain?
May 7th, 2008 at 10:12 amWould Bernie Kerik be consulting on this one??
May 7th, 2008 at 10:17 amWay to go, 9iu11ani!
I fully expect to see Vitali Klitschko begin answering phone calls during press conferences, enthusiastically support torture, and focus all of his campaign money on one oblast. That’s a winning strategy indeed!

May 7th, 2008 at 10:52 amVitali Klitschko plans to spend the next few months in Florida, monitoring Rudy’s efforts in Kiev, Georgia.
Rudy claims that plane has worked well for him, and…
May 7th, 2008 at 10:58 am#12 - should be plan, of course.
Although putting Rudy on a plane to Kiev is a good start.
May 7th, 2008 at 10:59 amI have no doubt that Rudy is more than capable of rooting out corruption. He has a talent for finding business opportunities.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:17 amso, Iron Fist told his mafioso lieutenants to make Ghoulini an offer he can’t refuse.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:49 am“Ukrainian candidate hires Giuliani to help ‘corruption take root.’”
There, that makes much more sense.
May 7th, 2008 at 11:57 amWell, I guess it’s safe to say ‘it takes one to know one’…eh?
May 7th, 2008 at 12:36 pmThat must have been one helluva sales pitch. While Giuliani appears uniquely qualified for the job, NY politics and corruption have nothing on their Ukrainian counterparts. Along with the obvious language barrier, Rudy has to contend with major cultural issues too. And it’s not like he ever won awards for lingual and cultural sensitivity.

May 7th, 2008 at 4:01 pmAndrew Sullivan Is A Fraud
There was a time, long ago, when both John McCain and Rudy Giulliani rooted out corruption. Remember when, against the wishes of Bill Clinton, Giulliani refused PLO chairman Yassar Arafat admission to a gala at Gracie Mansion, the Governor of New York’s residence, because the PLO tossed a wheel-chair bound Jew off of the Achillie Largo cruise ship.
What has happened to these American heros?
Greed and fame has gotten the best of them. Their fall from grace has been precipitious and tragic. They believe in their lost laurels. We see them as they are today, not for the deeds that gained our respect and admiration in the past.
They are junkies, jonesing for their next hit . . . only they debase the people who promoted them to such stature . . . today, they just want to steal from you for their next hit.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:00 pmExcuse me, that should be “have” not “has.”
May 7th, 2008 at 6:07 pmBTW, Ukranians are an intransigent bunch. Their tolerance for Jews only matches the level of sociotal corruption. They have a very low tolerence for reform. Polonium is seen as a cure . . . watch out Rudy suchi bars are not your friends . . .unless of course, Pootie offers you a little oil bootie . . . but even then . . .
May 7th, 2008 at 6:11 pmMOSCOW: Russian state-controlled natural gas monopoly OAO Gazprom and Ukraine on Thursday announced an agreement on gas deliveries for the rest of the year, apparently putting an end to a dispute that had been watched nervously in Western Europe.
. . . .
The Russian company previously cut shipments by up to 50 percent for several days last week.
Russia had previously cut off all shipment of gas and other petroleum products to Georgia for months.
Imagine what would happen in the US if the government shut off the gas for even a few days.
Go Rudi go! No doubt, your deal with the devil with pay huge returns. Hope (?) you live to enjoy.
May 7th, 2008 at 6:25 pmOh, that tidbit was date stamped March 13th, 2008. The former CEO of Gazprom is still in jail. Pootie claimed all of the man’s wealth in the company for himself. He’s no longer predident of Russia, but he’s rich as all get out. In the past two years, Pootie has decided that contracts that he made with BP, ELF, Exxon and others had to be re-written (in respect to the Kazakstan oil field), unilaterally deciding that Russia (and himself) was entitled to more than an 80% greater share than originally negotiated, although these companies provided all of the geological, engineering, hardware and transport to develop the Caspian Sea, which isn’t even in Russia. They all capitulated.
You go Rudi. Is this corruption, seeing that Russia is intemidating its partners and withholding energy from your constituent population?
May 7th, 2008 at 6:39 pmPooters,
It appears that noone in the mainstream meadia wants to take you on. Well, I’ve cc’d this to all and a few independents. You suck.
