McCain: Embattled U.S. attorney has done a ‘good’ job.

Today, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) spoke in New Jersey, confessing to reporters who pressed him about local issues that he knows little about the state. “I’m not that familiar with the political situation on the ground here,” he said. Asked about New Jersey’s U.S. attorney, Chris Christie, McCain simply claimed Christie has been “good”:

McCain deferred when pressed on whether he was familiar with Christie — a federal prosecutor appointed by President Bush — or Christie’s work. “I know it’s been good,” he said. “I’m certainly not familiar with the political environment here.”

Christie’s work, however, has been highly controversial. Last fall, he awarded his former boss, John Ashcroft, a lucrative no-bid contract to “monitor a large corporation willing to settle criminal charges out of court.” The contract appeared to be “political patronage,” spurring congressional hearings on contracting. Congress is still investigating the matter.

"The event had been planned for Sandy Hook, a barrier peninsula at the Jersey Shore, but was moved indoors to Jersey City because of the weather."

That is the oddest excuse for coming to my home town that I ever heard.

The man is a pandering jackass who will say anything!

How did the American discourse come down to idioti like McSame who so scorn America, the system of government set down by the forefathers, and the spirit of the Constitution that he would defend graft and murderous hubris with a brainless and indifferent soundbite.

The MSM is a disgrace that props up men of inferior credibility in order to further a corporate agenda. Brokaw, Couric, Williams, are no better than that other Williams (Armstrong) whose only difference was he got caught and thrown under the bus.

The MSM should be charged under R.I.C.O. Let's start with the Iraq war cheerleading monstrosity, throw in the 9-11 coverup, and hand the entire investigation to independent special prosecutors...with Secret Service protection.

Goddammit! I'm sick of doddering party "yes men" who are pwned and as corrupt as Abramoff's little black book, but the pravda MSM laughs it off, changes the subject, then hires the same paid-whore pundit vermin like Krystal and Buchanan to catapult the propaganda.

Were the MSM doing it's job of genuine journalism, imbeciles like McClod wouldn't make it to the first primary.

Oh yeah, btw Sandy Hook has a population of 1100 and has a Coast Guard station.
Jersey City has a popu;lation of about 500,000 and is as diverse as New York or Chicago.
Hard to imagine what McCain would have to say to any of its actual residents (though there is that one white supremecasist who is a pal of Hannity's).

I just love this visual stated over at The DailyKos by Trapper John.

McCain sold his "maverick" soul for a bloated, stinking elephant carcass.

Hmmm. That’s odd. I thought Republicans were supposed to be good at PR. McFlipFlop doesn’t have a PR team or did they lose their bearings?

  15. Zooey Says:

Don't these campaigns have an "Everything you need to know about (insert state name here) so you can answer questions intelligently" sessions before their candidate speaks anywhere?

    It seems prudent...

Hanshiro - spot on, and HEAR-FREAKING-HEAR!!!!

I can't watch any network news any more; I can't stand it; I find myself yelling at the television, and it embarrasses the hell out of me. :o/

    Don't forget the Menendez matter....

Seems Christie was on the original list of USAs to be fired until his office leaked a fake story about a Menendez scandal: a supposed grand jury and a supposed subpeona right before the '06 election.

    Heckofajob Christie.

Nope, they're where he keeps them, in Liberman's mouth.

Now did Leiberman mean barings or bearings? They seem to be getting awwwfully cozy.

From warmongering to cronyism, is there any doubt that McCain as president would be nothing more than Bush's third term?
