Arguing with them is the same as arguing with your cat.
I think what this says more than anything else is how easily Americans can be manipulated by spin. I don't remember any other time in my life when a presidential candidate was judged by his pastor, whether he wore a flag pin or not, or the other trivialities blown up to be "big issues" by the media and the opposition spin machine.

The fact that a third of our people are less likely to vote for Obama based upon things his PREACHER said (!) is scary. Especially when you consider that the only reason Wright was brought into the spotlight is that Obama himself could not be painted a scary black preacher as Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton could. Therefore, a scary black preacher had to be brought into the forefront.

Looks like it worked.

sbhunter Says:
Obama loses 33% but gains 1%, so that’s a net loss of 32%; McCain loses 38% but (amazingly!) gains 7%, for a net loss of 31%. That sounds slightly less hurt to McCain than Obama, or at best it is a wash (due to round-off error). Or am I missing something?

I think it is less about rounding off and more about significant digits

Gee!!!! They had to poll people to figure that out??!!! I'm glad that is the case and pray for them to provide more statements of 100 years in Iraq and more photos of Bush and his aging clone, MacCocaine.

Leftside Annie Says:

"I’m either seriously worried for - or frightened by - the 7% who say that they’re MORE likely to vote for McSame because of GWB…"

Annie,

There is nothing to worry about if you follow the "paper trail" commonly referred to as the "Family Tree." You will note the jump on Saturday to bring the total to the 7% when the newly acquired Bush "In-laws" joined the group. (Mandatory until after the Honeymoon). And if you view the poll in Military terms there is an actual reduction of 3% in the number. The Military has been built on the premise that there is always 10% that doesn't get the word. The world is improving! Smile!!

What the Republicans fail to realize is that what McCain is offering is, in no uncertain terms, a third Bush term. Obama is not trying to offer us anything like a "Jeremiah Wright" term. The distance is mind-blowing. (Assuming you have a mind that can be blown.)

I think, IMHO, that a lot of people support McCain because they see him as the "maverick", the republican that bucks the system and is trying to change things. I remember after super-tuesday when they were saying that McCain was getting a lot of the republican anti-war vote. As the general election gets closer, more and more people will see McCain for exactly what he is - a third term for George Bush. The media is too focused right on the whole Hillary/Obama race. But as that is shaken out - June 3 - they will settle down to the differences between Obama and McCain. And I think that is when the maverick image will take the straight talk express right off a cliff.

Yes, but it is a tight race between either Democratic contender and McCain. Little Missy Clinton will keep doing McCain's dirty work for him. Obama still cannot wrap it up with the blue collar voters. Meanwhile McSame has the press kissing his a** and the Democrats failing to attack him. Yes, the one time in the history of mankind when the Democrats should have an incontrovertible path to the White House and we will figure out how to screw it up.

I do not care how incompetent the Republicans are at governing. It does not matter when the Democrats are totally impotent when it comes to campaigning.

Well, that was my initial reaction as well, but it would be interesting to compare this to previous elections. Seven percent seems tiny from that standpoint; how often has an association with a sitting president been so terrible?

Grampy McSame says - My friends, back in the day we had bushes, and shrubs too, they were made of tin, so we used to collect them on Arbor Day and turn them into corn, we all loved corn, we could make our hats out of corn and string, sometimes I would paint my corn hat with silver paint, we called them tin foil corn hats...I hope that is creamed corn I just sat in.

Glad the Bush association is working out so good for you Gramps.

Leftside Annie,

I am surprised that it wasn't in the 25% range. Same number that think the Simpering Simian is doing a good job. It's really the same question in a different form isn't it? And I think the real answer as to how the Childish Chimp is doing is the 7%.

And that 7% are probly contrarians trying to piss the other 93% off.

SSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Dammit, get this thread down quick! Don't tell the old coot! He might get a clue.

On second thought, never mind. The entire inventory at CluesRUs wouldn't help.

The 7% number is very telling. Only 7% of voters would be more likely to vote for McCain because of the association with the Petulant President.

The Obama campaign has to make that photo of McCain hugging Bush the centerpiece of their ads. The last of that poor man's self esteem ran down his leg when he hugged Bush.

Bush should come with a warning label:

WARNING: Associating yourself with this man could mean political suicide. Do not listen to him, as this may cause lightheadedness. Attempting to engage him in political debate may cause nausea. If you are nursing or pregnant, get yourself as far away from his as possible. If you are hired by this man, avoid heavy lifting, as this may get you fired. Consult both your primary care physician and your lawyer if you must have interactions with this man.
