Will Obama ever fully explain why he could choose an antigay "ex-gay" (but super popular with Black Evangelicals) minister for his little South Carolina tour last year? Or has that been expunged from the "official" Obama record?
Seriously, y'all are really getting way too hung up on the McCain-Hagee situation. I have no expectation of ever getting any right-wing minister to make nice with the LGBT community. But, I did expect better of a DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE in picking Donnie McClurkin (as I recall, Obama didn't leave it up just to a campaign subordinate but chose the man personally due to his aforementioned popularity). I also take issue with the many otherwise "left-leaning" African-American ministers (some of whom have publicly endorsed Obama) who continue to denounce the idea of same-sex marriage as having any connection to the notion of civil rights (but I don't see ThinkProgress raising that issue very often).
Archbishop Desmond Tutu is the single best straight Black advocate for the LGBT community. It's just too bad his American counterparts (both inside and outside the Anglican Fellowship) don't agree with the majority of his views.

Hi bitblt. What up? Feeling sort of preachy? You can scream it in my face but I still won't care. If your into it, that's cool but objectively it is still all just a bunch of malarky. Admitedly a whole bunch of malarky which has helped out at times but also the same malarky that is usually at the root of all those times in which man takes up arms against his fellow man. Once they moved away from naturalism, all religions have been coopted.

Whenever you have a "pastor" start acting judgemental and better than everyone, you know the person is NOT a Christian.

They are simply RELIGIOUS nutcases who lvoe the attention.

He'll get his Karma, trust me.

Anyone remember Jerry Falwell?

RUCerious,

Sorry I am late getting back here, you're probably already gone but yes, there was some 10 Years After. Two albums I think Cricklewood Green and I don't remember the other. Mountain, the Yardbirds, Guess Who, Beautiful Day...some pretty obscure stuff too that I had never heard of.

Crom is a grim and gloomy god, ever watching from atop his mountain in dark clouds and obscuring mists, ready to pass a disapproving judgment on any and all.
this is a distraction -- the real hagee issue is:

john hagees' armageddonites over at CUFI believe that we must go to war with iran in order to expedite the second coming of christ and the "rapture" and all jews will have to accept jesus christ as their savior and messiah or endure: "THE MOTHER OF ALL HOLOCAUSTS." although judaism inherently disbelieves such nonsense the zionists embrace these pro-israel christians -- joe lieberman even compares the pudgy little gluttonous sinner hagee to moses and calls him a: "EESH ELO KIM" which is hebrew for "MAN OF GOD." these armageddonite whackos are VIPs at the AIPAC conferences, benjamin netanyahu speaks at the CUFI conferences and john mccain solicited hagee's endorsement for his presidential bid.

every american should watch these vids to get a grip on how dangerously twisted these cultist freaks are and and what torrid and shameful pandering is bestowed upon them by some of our worlds most powerful leaders and dignitaries: http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/03072008/watch.html and: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/max-blumenthal/rapture-ready-the-unauth_b_57826.html

please take the time to inform yourselves . . . this is our path to victory in 2008. Spread the link and bring awareness to this sick, twisted, horrific anti-American fascist ideology and agenda.

We do not need these people controlling the most powerful position in the free world -- it would be to our certain peril as a free nation.

John 8
<blockquote>
42Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."</blockquote>

When Hagee says “I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful”, that is not an apology. Not even close.</blockquote>

Abso-fu(king-lutely.

An apology has to be for a specific act. A blanket "I'm sorry for anything I may have done that caused anyone any pain" is meaningless in terms of contrition.

Shit the bed. First Daryll and now bitblt shows up to fight the good fight for his God.

Why is your God so insecure that he needs constant reassurance from his followers? Or is it the believers who are so insecure in their belief that they feel the need to defend their superstitions.

It's pathetic that a lack of belief by some anonymous blogger stirs the indignant anger in the freaks. We need a God who tells his followers that they are good and strong all on their own. But where's the money in that, pray tell.

I am truly tired of these so-called "apologies". We need to start hitting back when someone offers and apology that only seeks to put the error on the offended party (ie I'm sorry that someone took offense at what I said/did).

A true apology consists of three things:
1) An admission of wrongdoing (I said/did this and it was wrong because...)
2) A sincere apology (I am extremely sorry for the words/deeds that I have done)
3) A declaration of intent to ensure that the wrongdoing does not ever happen again and a statement of action taken to assuage those errors of judgement (I will never say/do these words/things again and I will do xxx to try and make it right).

When Hagee says "I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful", that is not an apology. Not even close. First, he states that the wronged party is at fault for finding the things he said hateful. Then he does not admit to any wrongdoing on his part. And finally, he does not give any indication as to what he will do to make it up to the people he has wronged.

Plese, let's start pushing back against this nonsense.

When Hagee says “I want to express my deep regret for any comments that Catholics have found hurtful”, that is not an apology. Not even close. First, he states that the wronged party is at fault for finding the things he said hateful. Then he does not admit to any wrongdoing on his part. And finally, he does not give any indication as to what he will do to make it up to the people he has wronged.

Plese, let’s start pushing back against this nonsense.

http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=Mark+7&version=31

Mark 7
<blockquote>
14Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. 15Nothing outside a man can make him 'unclean' by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him 'unclean.' "
.
.
.
20He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

RUCerious,

It's those rousing hims, er, hymns. Makes 'im want to tap his toes for joy. Usually in bathroom stalls, but I digress. That's how that wholly holier-than-thou type always works -- the one thing they condemn the most is 99 times out of 99-1/4 the very thing they're up to--and don't want anyone to know.

Those types are always self-correcting problems. It's a pity that they often don't "correct" before they pass on the defective genes, though. Perhaps we could offer him <a href="http://www.darwinawards.com/" rel="nofollow">some suggestions</a>. Just blue-skying here...

ralph, he really does remind me of a ling cod. Hang out in the rocks with only a nose poking out, and when the gay sex scent is detected, streak to the source and snap it up!

Thanks TP for putting up a Daryll enticing post today.</blockquote>

We all know the best bait by now; just put up a post that deals in some way with man-on-man sex and Daryll magically appears.

Daryll Says
May 13th, 2008 at 3:34 pm

Commandment 1: Thou shalt not worship other God’s, but me.

Catholics pray to the Pope and Mary.
___________________________________________________

Yes, I recognize that first commandment, but I don't know ANY Catholics who pray to the Pope. Many Catholics do pray to Mary the mother of Jesus, as well as other saints, but these are intercessory prayers ("please put in a good word for me with God, will you?"). Mary and the saints are not thought to be divine.

By the way, you appear to worship Jesus. Does this not violate the first commandment?
