And, as a former carny, I definitely heard worse – but the fact remains that the white folks that use these slurs think they’re apt, and sometimes funny, and I heard it most in the south. I seem to remember a Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas, that had mexican bars on one side of the street, and cowboy bars on the other side, and woe to the drunk who got confused about which side of the street he was on. They ended up in the next day’s news. Perhaps we travel in different social circles, cause in the past, I’ve worked with some stone-cold racist Texans. My point, that it’s just more visible in the South, would be mitigated by the fact that I don’t usually hobnob with Yuppies or white-collar workers, just blue-collar riff-raff, like myself.

seriously folks..these people should be allowed to let thier freak flag fly..why? if it gets black folks riled up, more of them will go vote, and thats bad for republicans. i think these people are making a serious mistake for thier cause because I predict it is this sort of bufoonery thats going to turn out the AA vote like never seen before..

Ah but white racists take it to a lower level. Ever heard the term, “afro-engineering?” It’s a less racist way of saying “n*gger-rig.” I heard such things (and worse) all the time in blue-collar Oklahoma.

Oklahoma is racist central. I heard the word used in Tulsa many times – and occasionally by whites, directly to blacks, like it was some big joke.
