Bush gets emotional during tribute to himself.»

Today, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warmly welcomed President Bush during his visit to the country. “He is a great leader, a great friend, a source of inspiration,” Olmert said of Bush in a speech. Reuters notes that during the speech, Bush “appeared to well up with emotion.” Dan Froomkin writes:

Could it be that despite the outward signs of confidence, all the criticism being heaped upon President Bush is getting to him? It’s sheer speculation, of course, but how do you explain why the president, welcomed to Israel with adulation, started to cry while being praised by a fellow world leader who expressed seemingly sincere admiration.

Watch it:

“Bush has cried many times during his presidency — when he’s met with the families of dead soldiers, after 9/11, at disaster scenes. But this was different. In this case, it seems his tears were for himself,” Froomkin adds.

I bet he shed one tear for each golf outing missed over the last seven years.

  3. Leftside Annie Says:

Pathetic little weasel. I’d like to give him something to cry about…

  4. flavorino Says:

“He is a great leader, a great friend, a source of inspiration,”

Hmmmm…could it be that he cried because deep down somewhere in his arrogant, sociopathic, egotistical, selfish, imbecilic being there is a part of him that knows he is none of those things that Olmert stated.

  5. hellinabucket Says:

Ehud Olmert is wrong. Bush is not a great leader. He might be a great friend but not a great leader.

  6. Yankeluh Says:

Is there any chance they will keep him? I am sure there is some brush somewhere he could clear.

  7. hellinabucket Says:

Bush has been a source of inspiration. Millions within this country have been inspired to register democratic and to end this madness.

  8. And Yet... Says:

With all the tears cried over the dead from the ME wars, GWB could shed a few in that direction. How about publicly, over the coffins coming home? Not a good idea politically, I guess, so tough luck, Gold Star families.

Bab’s boy only knows how to cry for himself.

  9. LividLib Says:

    tears of a clown
he’ll turn your smile upside down

“He is a great leader, a great friend, a source of inspiration,”

He was crying from laughter, knowing that he will escape unscathed from all the crimes he has committed.

  11. celtic cynic Says:

Actually the tears weren’t for himself. Bush and Ehud Olmert were engaged in a fart contest, and the blue cloud simply overwhelmed him.

  12. LividLib Says:

maybe it was the splitting headache from being hungover.

  13. Badmoodman Says:

Coincidentally, Ehud Olmert is Yiddish for George Bush.

  14. RobertSeattle Says:

When future Attorney General John Edwards is about to release the indictments against Bush, Bush will have to flee to Israel to avoid prosecution for his war crimes.

  15. hellinabucket Says:

I always assumed the gas from Bush would be green.

  16. SP Biloxi Says:

“Bush gets emotional during tribute to himself.” Tears from a clown, indeed. Bush is in the running with Boner Boy (Boehner) with the Crocodile Tears award. While Cry baby-in-chief is all broken up in tears of himself, this country is being bankrupted and troops are dying and wounded in a war on false pretenses.

  17. RobertSeattle Says:

Additional lighting rods were added to the building prior to the event to protect the building against the numerous lighting strikes that occurred during the ceremony…

  18. BloggerRadio.com Says:

Bush … do America a favor and stay in Israel, or anywhere but here at home. Send for fellow moron Joey Lieberman to join you wherever that might be, too … as-in, forever.

  19. texaslady Says:

gummitch at #2 I was thinking the same thing. “you like me, you really, like me.” They like USA money you fool.

  20. Shayne Says:

That’s how much Israel cares about the US. He praises the man at the helm of this floundering empire a great leader. Well EFF you Olmert. How about giving a shit for the people back here who have lost everything so your people can feel “safe”.

  21. texaslady Says:

Ok, Israel one country for US as long as the check arrives, and how many others are we buying ?

  22. Doc Rock Says:

Many alcoholics get maudlin and weepy for themselves

  23. StratRat Says:

When the booze starts to wear off and the thinking starts, even Bush knows he has taken this country back at least 10-20 years. In his quietest moments, he knows what he has done. He knows he has been a tool for the criminal element of the right side. They chose someone smarter than him - Cheney - to make sure he didn’t screw up their plan for world domination. They played to his vanity and his lack of self confidence - typical for a recovering alcoholic. I am almost certain he knows he has been duped. Why cry now?

  24. freeman Says:

We are all crying here george , millions of wives , husbands mothers and fathers , brothers and sisters ,sons and daughters , are all grieving because of neoconservativism and zionism gaining asendency under your tenure as president .

  25. tokin librul Says:

When the fascists start weeping, watch out. Nothing good can come of it. Somebody’s gonna get hurt…Are Bombin’ Johnnie’s eyes moist? If so, watch out, Iran…

  26. Leftside Annie Says:

Great. A couple of criminals throw themselves a mutual admiration soiree.

    Big flarking whoop.

  27. texaslady Says:

bush will need alot of alcohol when he is sitting on his ranch and perhaps stray thoughts come up of all the killing and ruinination of a beautiful country he caused.

  28. texaslady Says:

  29. Little Freep Goofballs Says:

    Don’t cry, George.

    Just press L, R, L, R, X(2), Y(2) to return to the game.

Next time, make sure you jump right on top of the turtle.

  30. tokin librul Says:

@ #24, StratRat plays the bathos card, but I ain’t buyin’ it.

Bush was always a willing tool. He loved it. There is no tragic hero who was as great an ass-hole, was so unadmireable, so mean as aWol George…the weak are not ‘tragic.’

A strutting, simpering, smirking, swaggering pseudo-simian who had swallowed the program whole. You give him credit for decency of which there is utterly no evidence anywhere.

He has done splendidly the low tasks he was installed to do: as much as possible, to attack, diminish, reduce, undermine and/or subvert EVERY and ANY instrument or institution of democratic self-sovereignty as he could ever touch in 8 years. He’s not done yet. Jan 20 is inauguration day; it wouldn’t surprise me if he (they) struck Iran on the 18th.

Was this really an episode for Candid Camera or Jackass IV - The Movie ?

  32. Badger Says:

What if President Bush spelled the END of the Republican Party?

Would we appreciate his special gifts then? Still….4000 brave American’s in Iraq..plus the 3000 innocent New Yorkers is TOO high of a price.

  33. texaslady Says:

Old sayings so true, dogs of the same lay down together. rove, cheney, bush, feith, rumsfeldt on and on. All lying, criminals hanging together.

  34. texaslady Says:

Yes, Badger I thought too, maybe the one good thing bush did would be to destroy the republican party. At least the word republican has taken a new meaning, a slur at the least.

  35. texaslady Says:

Israel may or may not know bush would sell Israel out in a heartbeat if he didn’t need them anymore.

  36. Jeannie See Says:

Olmert is just as delusional as Bush is.

  37. Cal Malenky Says:

    It’s always all about him.
Laura said he suffers more than anyone when soldiers are killed. He was thinking of the troops.
Yeah, that’s the picture, thinking of the troops.

  38. MCMetal Says:

In this case, it seems his tears were for himself,” Froomkin adds.

If he feels that way for himself , what about every American who has had to put up with this clod for seven long years ?

  39. NoMoreBush Says:

Wow, I had no idea how f’d up the Israelis were — great leader? standing O? They need to get out more.

I woke up today I was crying
    lost in a lost world
    so many people are dying
    lost in a lost world
some of them are living an illusion
blinded by the darkness of their minds
in their eyes its nation against nation against nation
    with racial pride
    sad hearts they hide
    thinking only of themselves
    they shun the light
    they think their right
    living in an empty shell

  46. pete Says:

We are witness to the “last throws”… of Bush’s break with reality. It’s turning into a race between the end of his reign and his inability to function. I’m surprised that no one has noted, that I’ve noticed during the golf flap, that he’s become agoraphobic as his paranoia increases. If he weren’t such a diabolical bastard I’d pity him.

  49. zuch Says:

Oh shaddup. You’d cry too if you found out that there is at least one person in this world that doesn’t hate your guts with a passion (and think you’re stoopid to boot). I’m quite sure he was overcome with emotion. Good to see that in a preznit.

    Cheers,

I hope no one thinks all Jews are as stupid as Ehud Olmert.

  52. bitemeliberals Says:

UUUMMMMM Bush had nothing to do with the attack on the trade towers and to compare the tragedy of innocent people being murdered in cold blood to soldiers dying on the battle field well to the logical sings of stupidity.Yes going into Iraq was a mistake we should have kicked Saudi Arabia’s’ ass between their ears it was men from that country that killed our people in those towers and now they are killing us at the pump. You people need to get your priorities straight. We are lookin at an election with on the Dem side a former slumlord protester and political activist. On the Rep side you have a man with a bigger ego than bush and a dangerous itinery.Either way we are sssssoooo screwed!

Of course not! My disaproval of the terrorist State of Israel does not get mixed up with the jewish religion and culture. Being a Roman Catholic, I understand the Christianity stems out of Judaism. I’m against what the terrorist State of Israel does to the palestinian people.
