Hans von Spakovsky withdraws as FEC nominee.»

Today, Hans von Spakovsky — President Bush’s nominee to the FEC and a lighting rod for criticism over his history of voter suppression at the Justice Department — withdrew his nomination. The Senate had blocked Spakovsky over concern about his tenure at the DOJ, where he unilaterally approved stringent voter ID laws and blocked investigations into voter discrimination. View Spakovsky’s resignation letter here.

Now and then something good happens.

  2. StratRat Says:

He knew his time at the skirt of Bush would be very short, indeed. Why ruin your reputation anymore than it already is? Most GOP staffers are going to find it very difficult to find gainful employment as most of the kool-aid has worn off.

One more rat flees the Ship of State. Soon Boss Rat and Junior will leave, hopefully, by way of the plank suspended over the waters of Lake Leavenworth.

  4. The Dogfather Says:

In his letter, Hans says he hopes he can serve the American people again in the future. I know just the place — the Friendly’s around the corner from my house is looking for a few waiters, Hans…you can serve all the American people there that you want…

    Good riddance, Bush stooge.

  5. Leftside Annie Says:

Buh-bye! Don’t let the door hit yer scraggly old ass on the way out.

  6. Exit Stage Left Says:

Would the last neocon dooshbag please flush on the way out?

  7. Saint Augustine Says:

Something might be rotten in Denmark. I guess I just don’t trust Bushco and wonder what the real reason is for this. Is there something that Bush needs a functioning FEC for, maybe a new chairman that will aid McCain’s campaign? Or is there another hit job somewhere outside of D.C. where Hans can use his dubious skills to suppress a few thousand more votes?

I won’t let my guard down until Obama has taken the oath of office.

  8. Ms_Joanne Says:

Buh bye, Hans. Do let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out.

And, no, there is no way Bush will allow a functioning FEC. Another Bushlicker nomination is pending.

  9. zuch Says:

What?!? Did his lawyer tell him that he’s a “target” or “person of interest”?….

    Cheers,

  11. able as Says:

I suspecr his reason , not financial burden on his family, and agree we’re not safe until Obama gives his oath of office, if then. There were billions of $s loose in Bagdad, those scumbags must still have a pipeline to it

Another Bush employee we all hope to see in Leavenworth.
