Sen. Kennedy rushed to the hospital.

By Matt Corley on May 17th, 2008 at 12:20 pm

Sen. Kennedy rushed to the hospital.

Earlier this morning, Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) was rushed to the hospital in Cape Cod, Massachusetts with the “symptoms of a stroke.” Kennedy, who is 76, was transfered to Mass General Hospital in Boston after being treated in the emergency room.

UpdateVia BarbinMD at DailyKos, CNN's Ed Henry is reporting that "a Kennedy source says that the Senator himself at about 10:30 a.m. called someone to say he couldn't host a luncheon. That would have been more than two hours after the original 911 call."
UpdateThe AP reports that Kennedy had a seizure, not a stroke as was originally reported. His spokeswoman, Stephanie Cutter, says he is "resting comfortably."

How long will it be before Fox "News" and Bill O'Reilly and Karl Eove, et al, begin to gloat over what has happened to Senator Kennedy-days or hours before they begin their hate fest?

  2. Alecto Says:

I already saw nasty Repfu(ktard comments on Yahoo about it.

  3. dixie blood Says:

    Get well soon Mr. Kennedy.

  4. Badmoodman Says:

TP, why would you sling this chum for the trolls? Geeze.

  5. Jane E. Schneider Says:

This will bring the trolls out in droves.

  6. wijg Says:

Terrible news. I hope he gets back on his feet so he can kick some Republic ass and help get our country back on track. Get well Senator Kennedy.

  7. able as Says:

I can hear Hagee and Parsley, and can see the smirks on Cheney's and O'reilly's faces. The cynical bastards think they're gonna live forever.

It's important news, regardless of how the wingnuts will view it. We really need Kennedy to be healthy enough to kick butt and cast his votes in the Senate. Let's hope this is just a matter of doctors playing it safe.

  9. Kay Says:

As a Massachusetts citizen, I wish you a speedy recovery.

  10. lokidog Says:

The prayers and good wishes of millions of proud and patriotic Americans are with Mr. Kennedy today.

Hang tough, sir. This country needs you.

  11. Briseadh na Faire Says:

Peace and Healing be with the Senator.

  12. backup Says:

Senator Kennedy is the closest thing we have to a living history of American politics. He has lived an incredible life. It's an understatement to say he's had huge impact on the Democratic party. I am optimistic for his full recovery, because he has proven to be a survivor. If I had to predict the future, I would invision Ted Kennedy opposing conservatives for many years to come.

Well wishes to Ted Kennedy, and the whole Kennedy family, for his speedy recovery.

  13. singe_101 Says:

Well this seems like the week for it, all the Republicans trying to destroy the legislature and the Constitution.

    Get well soon, Ted.

  14. wijg Says:

    From Kos:

"Some encouraging news: On CNN, Ed Henry is reporting that a Kennedy source says that the Senator himself at about 10:30 a.m. called someone to say he couldn't host a luncheon. That would have been more than two hours after the originial 911 call."

  15. spencers mom Says:

    Godspeed, Senator.

    PEACE

  16. Wayne Says:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery,Senator Kennedy.

Trivia - Senator Kennedy is one of 6 Senators that have served over 40 years, that are still in office.

  17. ralph the wonder llama Says:

All our prayers are with you, Senator Kennedy.

Your country still needs you, there's no doubt about that.

  18. Buckie Boy Says:

Get well soon, Senator. Strokes are bad news and hard to recover from.

  19. Marie Says:

He recently had his carotid arteries cleaned as a preventive measure. Let's hope that was effective. I think he is the last remaining Kennedy brother.
The Senate needs his leadership; I would be so sad if he were not around to see the Democrats back in power in November.

Quick diagnosis and treatment with t-PA can greatly mitigate the damage done by stroke. I am fairly confidnet he is getting the best medical care that Mass. and Harvard can offer at MassGeneral.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Senator.

On another note, upthread I think I detected compasasion from a conservative. After the mockery that slogan became after the 2000 campaign (not to mention "uniter, not divider" and "not a nation builder"), may the coming campaign find more compassion from conservatives.

  21. robbez_92107 Says:

"confidnet" s/b "confident" - dyslexic finger error - sorry

  22. RUCerious Says:

Hope all is OK for the senior Senator from MA. Perhaps he could arrange to loan other Dems in the Senate some spine.

  23. RUCerious Says:

Update correction:: that would be barbinmd, not bab...

  24. Xisithrus Says:

Remember when Judge Roberts had a seizure and the freepers were claiming it was some kind of weapon used on him by the democrats?

Savage: "You're telling me there's no possibility of a conspiracy by the Democrats" to cause Roberts' seizure?

I bet you wont see any such claims by the Democrats as the Savage cretins froth over someones illness.

Although I generally am not a Ted fan, I still wish him well and hope he gets better.

  25. Witch1 Says:

Blessings and a quick recovery Senator Kennedy...

    This is good news...

I know from multiple first-hand experiences, it is never any fun when your internal functions go awry and are the cause of your health problems. Whether it's Democrat or Republican, you don't deserve to end up in a hospital in all kinds of pain because your body has betrayed you.

This stuff shouldn't be fodder for jokes or banter of any sort. There should be some sort of decorum for serious health issues that have no bearing on politics.

What the phuck are you talking about? There has been no "jokes or banter of any sort" here today!! Who the phuck are you trying to scold here??? Do you have a USEFULL comment????????

  29. sectionop92 Says:

I'm talking about this issue as a whole. If you wouldn't fly off the handle, maybe you could learn something.

  30. sectionop92 Says:

No one here has said anything cruel, but you know if you go to other places on the web the trolls are out and have fun with sh!t like this.

BTW...I have had vast personal experience with an internal medical disorder which royally screwed up my life before I was a teenager. I'd like to think I know something about pain and suffering most don't and wouldn't like to know.

So if you think my personal experience isn't in any way "USEFULL", I just don't know what else to say.

  31. dixie blood Says:

"fodder for jokes or banter of any sort"

I ready to learn me up sumpin...Teach me all 'bout the "jokes" and "banter of any sort" you found here or somewhere else...I be ready to learn massa... hep me learn up sumpin frum u!!

  32. Ms_Joanne Says:

Of course this is political. Dems have a marginal "lead" and losing one, even for a brief period would be terrible.

No matter, my thoughts and wishes are with Senator Kennedy and his family.

  33. dixie blood Says:

    sectionop92,

If you read all of the previous posts you would not have said what you said, unless you are a troll here to reap fruit for the RePugniScums like a good lil' troll...

You know...post a comment here that has no basis in reality as if this were a "hateful librul" web site...Then pull it and print it later...

BTW, I DO NOT "go to other places on the web." That's you! NOT ME!!!

    Deal with your problems!!!

  34. dasm Says:

Kennedy is one of the most insightful, intelligent, thoughtful, courageous, and experienced politicians in the U.S. We should all wish him a quick recovery.

  35. indyjones Says:

I have not seen any disrespectful posts. I hope he gets well. As I would for any fellow human.

Seriously, if you think I'm a GOP troll you're nuts, look at my post history. And it's obvious you have some issues with reading comprehension skills. Where did I say anyone here was mocking any of this? If you read the other posts, as in post #24 you'll get the gist of my message. But if you want to be in attack mode instead of being a better person, that's fine.

I've lived and dealt with my issues for a very long time. It's obvious though having some experience with seizures isn't good enough, seeing as though my memories and recollections of my whole body shaking wildly, the right side of my body going numb and not wishing it on either side of the aisle is considered "no basis in reality".

I wish the Senator and his family the best.
I know one thing about senator Kennedy, he always fought for the disadvantaged, the poor, women, the elderly, and many others.
I saw him many times on C-Span tv. fighting for minimum wage, health and other issues on Senate floor.
I wish him a quick recovery.

Why doesn’t McCain just open his conference calls to as many bloggers as technologically possible? This is the “digital” age and this guy needs as much exposure as possible, whether good or bad. He’s campaigning for President of the United States of America. If he’s serious about “transparency and accountability” he doesn’t pick and choose who comes to ask questions every time he has one of these.

I’m sticking up for Malkin’s right to blog, not for her herself. The woman’s views scare me more than Jason, Freddy and Michael Myers’ love child, Nancy Grace.

You can tell where they’re going with this because they’ve been calling ol’ Koz a nazi because of what filks have posted over there.

By pulling that Malkin stunt, he’s obviously attempting to portray himself as a moderate and paint liberal bloggers as wingnuts. It’s an ongoing strategy that hasn’t worked for them because even the most liberal sites aren’t nearly as the wack-a-doodle neocon sycophants.

Watch for some false radical “liberal” sites to pop up and act all crazy so he can smear bloggers the same way the right wing mis portrayed the main stream media as “liberal” years ago.

I believe has the right to blog too!

But, she has no right to insist on an invitation from someone who does not want her there. And that’s not a free speech violation either trolls.

That’s right on point and phucking phunny!! ROTFLMAO!!!
