Huckabee: I thought McCain’s ‘bomb Iran’ song ‘was funny.’»

On NBC’s “Meet the Press” today, host Tim Russert played a clip from Friday of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee joking about Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) ducking after seeing a gunman. Huckabee apologized for saying what he called “a dumb, off the cuff remark,” and pointed to similar “dumb” comments from other politicians:

It won’t be the last dumb thing I’ve ever said. I’m sure I’ll make other comments. I think we all in politics do. Ronald Reagan had an open mike and said ‘I’m gonna launch a nuclear attack against Russia,’ I remember John McCain saying ‘Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran.’ I thought that was funny, but I mean a lot of people didn’t.

  1. Shayne Says:

He didn’t apologize to Obama. He apologized if others didn’t like it. Real freakin’ Christian. Just like threatening to bomb Iranians is funny. Do you think Christ had that kind of sense of humor Huckabumpkin?

  2. Wayne Says:

He thought bombing a country that hasn’t attacked us was funny, and that someone trying to shoot the Democratic candidate was funny (though he faked an apology later)

Real “Christian” of you, preacher man. Show us some more of your so called “Christian Values”. **puke**

  3. Max-1 Says:

    .

The stupid man admits that he will continue to do stupid things!

How stupid can America be to continue to entertain stupidity?

  4. old_hack Says:

    anyone wonder what
barry obama plans to do with the nuclear waste that he’s about to spread all over the country if he becomes president?

at least Huckabee talked about the Fair Tax…

  5. Evergreen2U Says:

The bomb bomb Iran song might be “funny” at the local pub or bar when Joe Blow sings it…but when it is a head of state or person of political prominence it is the opposite of funny; it shows a total lack of judgment and awareness; it is a provocative threat to Iran by any standards.

  6. representativepress Says:

And this situation is dangerous. Imagine if an Iranian politician was singing about bombing America. see video: Sounding the Alarm: Stop the War President Now

    Oh yeah ?

Did Huckleberry also talk again about his moronic idea to re-word the Constitution to make it more ‘Bible-alike’ , too ?

  9. Evergreen2U Says:

Old Hack…there is nothing “fair” about the fair tax…it is very regressive: which means in essence…The rich will pay less and the poor more. It is another corporate get rich scheme at YOUR expense. Maybe you believe the propaganda they put out with it, but I’m just totally fed up with Oil barons and corporate cronies taking more and more from my country. You do you know they outsourced our jobs, and even make our passports somewhere else now…don’t you? “Free trade” is about as free as the “fair tax” is fair. both are touted by those who stand to gain by corporate gains. America was not meant to be by and for the God damn corporatocracy and the hell with the people, the roads, the bridges, the jobs, the food. Corporations are not people! Fair tax is for the corporations…and those who benefit directly from same….it has nothing to do with what is best for our society or our nation.

  10. Shayne Says:

Listen old_hack. They don’t make nuclear weapons out of nuclear waste from power plants. You totally took that out of context. Illinois has more nuclear power plants than any other state in the country. And so far they haven’t found a site where they could store the spent rods.

The Department of Energy was to begin accepting spent fuel at the Yucca Mountain Repository by January 31, 1998 but has yet to do so because of a series of delays due to legal challenges, concerns over how to transport nuclear waste to the facility, and political pressures resulting in underfunding of the construction. There is currently no official date set for opening the facility, and as a result spent fuel continues to accumulate at reactor sites and other above-ground temporary storage locations across the country.

Do you even know what you’re talking about? Or are you just shilling for Hillary?

  11. Gregor Samsa Says:

Of course. There is nothing -and I mean nothing- funnier than illegal invasions, military occupations, bombings of large civilian centers, want-on torture & rape of innocent men and women, and the plight of millions of refugees.

Oh my… I better stop; I am laughing so hard my sides hurt.

  12. MCMetal Says:

Yeah , that sure is quite a knee-slapper , you Gomer Pyle look-alike rube ………..

  13. rastaman Says:

Bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb New York.

yukity yuk yuk …..that’s just sooooooooooooooo funny.

  14. Gregor Samsa Says:

I bet Huckabee enjoys a good rape joke every now and then.

These are the good ole’ Christian values, Republican style: worship for the sanctity of life as long as it’s White, Anglo-Saxon, & Protestant.

Oh, and in the womb. Already born? Let them eat cake.

  15. RUCerious Says:

Of course he’d think they’re funny.

    He’s a complete asswhole.

  16. Heraldblog Says:

Huckabee is a liar and a fraud. Did you catch how he pretended to mangle the rhythm on McCain’s “bomb Iran” song? Give me a break - Huckabee is a bass guitarist who plays ond rock and roll songs. We’re supposed to believe he is only vaguely familiar with the Beach Boys classic Barbara Ann.

    ===========================================

They don’t really sing….it’s more like a “chant”… but no matter, I myself much prefer Senator Obama’s staccato, southern diplomat-preacher style rhythm when he delivers a speech to a crowd at a rally. When he really gets going and the crowd gets into it and he like says 3 or 4 words and the crowd says “talk to us brother” and he says like 3 or 4 more words and the crowd says “the lord knows your right” and he says like 4 or 5 more words and the crowd says “lead us to the promise land” and so on……makes me all warm inside and I just gotta get up and dance. *****BHO 08?*****

That “warm feeling” of yours is a lack of bowel control ….

  18. vat694848 Says:

He’s a fraud, and hypocrite! McCain would be smart to pick the hick from AK. for his V.P.—–P.S. Mike get your teeth fixed.

  19. Wayne A. Schneider Says:

It won’t be the last dumb thing I’ve ever said. I’m sure I’ll make other comments.

It took fifteen seconds between him saying this, and then him saying something “dumb” like, “I thought [McCain’s joke] was funny.” Fifteen seconds.

  20. hanshiro Says:

Huckabee doesn’t believe in evolution…and he is proof positive of what happens when an individual doesn’t evolve.

    Any wonder he’s a republican?

  21. dbadass Says:

Huckabee belives the universe is only as old as McCain. Perhaps there is something to Daryll’s prophecy

  22. Shayne Says:

Project much Zed Buffoon? Yeah you people love all that preachery stuff as long as a white man is saying it right? Just like you fall for Bush’s fake Texas accent but it’s alright if you’re all white, right?

  23. ralph the wonder llama Says:

It won’t be the last dumb thing I’ve ever said. I’m sure I’ll make other comments. I think we all in politics do.

Y’know… funny thing… all of the examples he cites of politicians saying stupid things are Republicans. What’re the odds?

Perhaps it would have been more accurate to say,

It won’t be the last dumb thing I’ve ever said. I’m sure I’ll make other comments. I think we all in the Republican party do.

  24. Shayne Says:

    May 18th, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Because he attended a madrassa and is a Muslim ; and he doesn’t sing about bombing countries unprovoked , using 50 year old songs ……….

  27. barfly Says:

A somewhat funnier gaff was made by Bush at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East; when talking of the prospects for a peaceful resolution to the Israeli/Pakistani problem, he referred to a “democrat Israel,” apparently meaning “a democratic Israel.”

I wonder if the Israelis realize they are all democrats?

  30. OneCitizen Says:

Huckabee probably would enjoy the hell out of those jokes being being passed around Obama’s Secret Service agents.

As I matter of fact I can almost see him now yuckin’ it up with the rest of his klavern out back of the local gun show…

  31. Kay Says:

Waterboarding Huckabee,Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld, Rove, Rice, Powell, Hadley, Myers etc. would be the only thing that would be
    funny…

  34. SP Biloxi Says:

Huckabee: I thought McCain’s ‘bomb Iran’ song ‘was funny.’

A clear example of the dumbing down of America.

  35. Imichael Says:

And this guy is supposed to be a minister. ” Blessed are the peace makers”. Can Huckawimp tell us who said those words?

  36. Nevar Says:

Huckabee is playing to the hungover Sunday morning beer bums who didn’t make it to church for the Rev. Hagee’s sermon.
These are the same overweight slobovians who will tune into Bush Limpwad tomorrow morning.

  37. KYJurisDoctor Says:

The insufferable IDIOT that is Mike Huckabee.

  38. YouCantHandleDaTruth Says:

Let him send his kids to go fight (not do rear end support work) in Iraq and we’ll see how funny that crap is.

  39. Al Da God Says:

It’s ok for Iran to say Death to Ameirca and say America will be destroyed. But we can’t insult them back.
Why don’t you Leftists condemn Iranians officials who call for America’s death?

  40. flavorino Says:

    Al Da God Says:

It’s ok for Iran to say Death to Ameirca and say America will be destroyed. But we can’t insult them back.
Why don’t you Leftists condemn Iranians officials who call for America’s death?

The whole country of Iran said death to America?
Almost 1 million Iranians held a candlelight vigil in sympathy with America in Tehran after 9/11.

What iranian official has said “Death to America”, please provide the name and a link.

There may be Iranians who said “death to America” but they seem to be in the minority, although the Bush Administration does it’s best to increase that minority.
You don’t judge, attack or insult an entire country because of what one or a few people say.
If we attacked every country that had any person who said “Death to America” we would probably be at war with most of the world.

Every country is a mixture of intelligent, thoughtful citizens, but will often have some people who don’t think too deeply….kinda of like you….didn’t even think things through deep enough to spell “Ameirca” correctly.

  41. dbadass Says:

Hi ya Al Da God. What’s happening?

  42. Al Da God Says:

    flavorino,
Ahamadinejad has called for America’s destruction. So has Ayatollah Khamanei.
Why do you support the Iranian regime?

  43. jonny Says:

    Al Da God Says:

    Al Da God Says:

    —————-
Know why many of them say that? It’s not because people follow a different prophet.

It’s because we’ve been killing them for generations.

So to be honest, their anger is extremely justified.

But you just keep on kicking that dog, Al Da God. When it bites you, I’m sure you’ll say it was the dog’s fault.

  45. Keith Says:

It is a violation of international law to threaten to bomb another country. Also, Israel has over 200 nukes. Many can be put on subs directly off the Iranian coast and annihilate the country in minutes. Should they have a deterent against that happening, or should they be helpless?

  46. AMcG773 Says:

Oh, please let Huckabee be the VP candidate.

  47. DallasNE Says:

That Huckabee is a real hoot. Death and mayhem give him a good chuckle. Wouldn’t an assassination be funny hoots Huckabee. And how funny it would be if we bomb bomb bomb bomb bomb Iran. Is there any wonder that young Christians are abandoning the Republican Party in droves? Huckabee has driven the Christian bus into the ditch.

  48. phred42 Says:

The title of this one should have been:

Road-kill Squirrel eating Preacher Kisses Ass.

  49. Uncle Ho Says:

End-times Hagee & Huckie would find that song funny. In fact, they pray for it.

  50. shoeless Says:

Genocide: it’s Born-again Christian for “funny.”

  52. GeeDubs Says:

Zo…this was the man that wanted to be President. He thinks it was ‘funny’ for McBoob to sing about bombing Iran. And they Republicans wonder why nobody is taking them seriously anymore. How depraved do you have to be for this to be taken that lightly? This is supposedly a preacher of God. Would God sanction such garbage?

  53. dixie blood Says:
