Some Bush/Cheney supporters blame the current recession and weak Military on Bill Clinton. That shows just how stupid people are when Bill Clinton left office economy was strong and we had a surplus with a strong Military and of course we had friendships around the world.

O’Rly Jackie? As a retired veteran I can say without a doubt, you don’t know what the hell your talking about!
During the Clinton Administration the Department of Defense was conducting what they call Base Realignment and Closures and have been doing so for the last 20 years! When Clinton took office, he was responsible for approving or disapproving of all remaining BRAC recommendations from the previous administration in 1991. At that time Clinton approved a swooping 20% in all DoDs capacity that existed in 1988, through 2001. This didn’t even include the overseas force structure changes and deletions to hundreds of US military installations across the globe! So please, be more informed of the facts before you shoot off at the mouth!

I served under Bill Clinton and during those 8 years the entire military was reduced to a former shell of itself. Was that the reason for 9/11 happening? Of course not, but Mr. Clinton knows full well what other cuts to the defense department, intelligence agencies and just about everything else, which helped bolster the economy due to reduced spending! Only he can truly say and live with the fact that maybe all those cuts to the Nations Security apparatus did in fact help produce the tragedy of 9/11!

At least have the common sense to accept those issues as part of the equation and quit hating on GWB! He didn’t start this mess no matter how bad you want to blame him for all your miserable little problems!

Hitler staged a phony attack on a German radio station near the border with Poland. He used Germans dressed in Polish uniforms and told the world that Poland instigated the affair and was a threat to Germany. Then rolled into Poland. Then some senator said he wished he had had a chance to talk with Hitler. Would it have done any good?

Bush staged a presentation at the UN showing Iraq with weapons of mass destruction. Claimed Iraq was an imminent threat to US. Then rolled into Iraq. All kinds of senators had a chance and some did talk to him. Did that do any good? Of course not. Can”t talk to anyone hell bent on attack.

The jerk should have kept his stupid mouth shut in Israel.

OKAY. That’s not enough. Ahmadinejad repeatedly talks about destroying and American ally. How else is Bush supposed to talk? This needs to be worked out because Obama is going to have to answer for it.

The point is not whether Bush should talk tough on Ahmadinejad. Obama should also take a tough stance as to the potential consequences of aggressive actions by Iran against Israel. But that was not the issue under discussion. We can honestly debate whether there should be discussions between Iran and the United States. They are already taking place.

The real question is at what level such discussions should take place and what topics and goals should be included in such discussions. Bush shuts down any discussion whatsoever with his disingenuous equation of talking and appeasement. We all know that such a comparison is false and the comparison hypocritical since the administration has held lower level talks with Iran, N. Korea and other rogue nations.

But Bush and his ilk are cowards since they refuse to even own up to their attacks on Obama. Bush can say that his policy has not changed on Iran BUT HE CAN ALSO SAY THAT HE BELIEVES OBAMA’S POLICY IS ONE OF APPEASEMENT. Bush chooses to ignore the question to avoid serious debate. Obama will only be prepared to meet this issue if the actual disputes are framed. Something that Bush and McCain want to avoid.

Just how else can you call chimpy anything else after HE NEGOTIATED WITH NORTH KOREA about their nuclear program.

Nor would the 1 million Palestinians/Israeli Arabs living in Israel. Nor would the 1.2 billion Muslims who consider Jerusalem the third holiest site in Islam.

The whole concept of nuking Israel is a red herring. It’ll never happen.

The Iranian leadership may be Islamic fundamentalists but they are not stupid. Nor are they these crazy evil Bond villains which the Bush-administration are so determined to portray them as. Of course Ahmadinejad does play the part of villain well but hes not the leader of Iran

The big problem is not Iran attacking Israel with the first bomb they manage to piece together, nor is it Iran giving a way their precious nuclear weapons to unreliable foreign terrorists like Hezbollah or Hamas

The big problem is nuclear proliferation which involves everyone in the region not just Iran. US threats and attacks will just make Iran more determined to get the bomb to use as a deterrent to future aggression

Another overlooked fact is that Gaza and the West Bank are pretty close to Israel. The Palestinians might not be pleased about having nukes lobbed in their direction by their good friends.
