McCain’s campaign manager’s name still on lobbying firm’s letterhead.

Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) campaign has recently begun purging itself of lobbyists. Yesterday, a fifth aide resigned because of lobbying ties. Yet McCain is still refusing to fire certain top aides, like campaign manager Rick Davis, who is a former lobbyist. Charlie Black, another former lobbyist who is McCain’s senior adviser, told reporters today that “Rick Davis and nobody else at his firm either has been a registered lobbyist in five years.” CNN’s Dana Bash reports today, however, that Davis’s old firm “can still use his name to recruit business since it’s still on the letterhead.” Watch it:

Additionally, Black’s claim that neither Davis nor his anyone at his firm have been registered as lobbyists in five years appears to be false. Here’s an image of a lobbying report from 2005 that has Davis listed as an “individual who acted as a lobbyist.”

Can you say- conflict of interest/

Or, further proof that MrPutz is a tool of the military-industrial-media-finance complex.

Beginning to look like the only difference between McSame and Dubya is the brush-cutting….. and at least one did not go AWOL from his unit.

McCain’s against lobbyists and lobbying, except when he’s for it. Kind of like earmarks. Kind of like torture.

If the right side speaks, it is lying. If the right side thinks (big if), it is lying. If the right side promises something, it is lying. The Republicans are the best criminal enterprise in the history of history. They cheat, steal, lie all while wrapped up in the flag and a southern baptist bible.

Once November arrives, good riddance to them.

Until the so-called media decide to hit George McLieberman er John McCain hard this means nothing, the straight talkin’, rootin’ tootin’, fastest shootin’, maverick in the west will ride on undeterred, and unchallenged.

Oh, come on now, just because a 2005 report, three years old, says “has Davis listed as an “individual who acted as a lobbyist.” doesn’t mean he was an individual who WAS a lobbyist, does it?

    Oh.

    It does.

Never mind, HEY! Look! Your shiny rebate check is in the mail!

Has McPander Bear remained true to any of his “long-held staunch positions”? I swear that every time he speaks out against something it’s because he’s guilty of said offense. I think he needs to clarify his vacillation on this subject. Perhaps he could find some time in his busy schedule to introduce new legislation, about hiring lobbyists, and then vote against it?

  8. Shayne says:

Would somebody please slap that smirk off McCranky’s face. And I mean that figuratively by confronting him with the facts.

  9. RUCerious says:

Shayne, McIIIrd never met a fact he actually remembered, or recognized. Or agreed that he always never supported, unless he didn’t.

Yes, this is old Straight Talking McCain. He is not controlled by lobbyist. They just man all of the senior positions in his campaign, write his position papers and recruit new business for their old firms. However, St. John is perfect. He would never be swayed by his advisers even though they brief him on the positions that he should take and write his speeches. It does not influence him, even though they spend all that time with him. The lobbyists are pure as the driven snow. They will never go back to lobbying and would never think of using their former, close association with McCain to gain access or to lobby on behalf of their clients. No, this is a perfect world. We do not need to doubt their pure hearts. We can key in on real issues of character, like, is Obama wearing a flag pin?

  13. The Shadow says:

John McCain is bought and paid for by Special Interest and Lobbyist. He’s not his own man and the dust up started by Bush last week proves it. He’s so weak he had to have a President with a 28 percent approval rating start a fight for him. Why he wants to be stuck with Dubya is beyond me. Maybe he would rather lose the election than divorce himself from a sinking ship (Bush/Cheney). Apparently he’s too old to figure out that he needs to run away from Bush and the so called conservatives in his party. When you have Rep. Tom Davis R-Virginia saying: “The Republican brand is like tainted dog food, nobody is buying it because the dogs won’t eat it”, you have to worry if your name is John Sydney McCain.

But when you are an old fart whose stuck in his ways you just keep beating your head against the wall regardless of the facts. Remember Bob Dole Sen R-Kansas? He too was too old and didn’t understand what voters really wanted. The Republican party’s biggest problem is just that, the Republican party. They are too stuck on their outdated ideas of tax cuts for the rich, anti-abortion, big brother government, bigotry, and divisive politics, to learn who to win an election in the current environment. Not even that fat waterboy Karl Rove can save the GOP from his ass kickin. They deserve exactly what they are about to get. The tidal wave that’s coming is going to set the Republican party back decades.

“….. and at least one did not go AWOL from his unit.”

True. And the other made anti-American propaganda films for the enemy when captured and tortured. Giving up information in return for preferential treatment.

He SAYS he gave nothing but false information, but yet thinks that it’s just fine to use torture to get information from our enemies because it’s “reliable”.

So, either torture works, and McCain gave “reliable” information under duress, or torture DOESN’T work, with proof being McCain and his giving nothing but sports team rosters when asked for information.

I honestly don’t know which is worse. Being AWOL, or this.

We can get into his financial plans and ties with the Keating Five later.

This ip part of a post over at the DailyKos

    Who is Charlie Black?
    by DarkSyde

My personal favorite: John Gorenfeld, author of Bad Moon Rising, notes that Black lent his name and in the process decieved several US lawmakers into attending a gruesome spectacle in the Dirksen Senate Office Building a few years ago, where right-wing religious maniac and beloved funding maven of the GOP, cult-leader Sun Myung-moon, was dressed up like King George III and crowned the Savior and Messiah of Mankind. When confronted by Gorenfeld, Black confessed nonchalantly as though it were business as usual.
