Actually, send that to Sonny Curtis, who wrote “I Fought the Law”. He is apparently still alive. He was in Buddy Holly’s band and had a notable music career, if not famous one. Bobby Fuller Four did the original recording of the song…which I still prefer over the Clash version.

Nancy Pelosi and the leadership of the House should step forward and hold a press conference to tell the American people that if Bush orders an attack on Iran without getting the approval of the Congress, Impeachment hearings will begin. But she doesn’t have the guts to do something like this and it needs to be done.
She is an accessory to the war crimes that Bush has committed since she came into “power”.

Can Congress tie his hands?

Of course they can. They can refuse to fund it or the Iraq War any further. They can pass resolutions that say all money allocated for Iraq must be used for redeploying troops out of Iraq itself. They can do any number of things. They could IMPEACH the hijo de puta, but they WON’T and that is the problem.

I had a discussion with a right wing friend, the subject is irrelevant, but at the end I was told that “You have your facts, and you have your logic, but I have my faith!” And in his mind, the two were equally persuasive.

On topic…. How can the madman be stopped? Seriously, if Bush orders the bombing of Iran there will be a hell of an uproar and reaction after the fact, but how can he be stopped?

Will the military mutiny en masse? Can Congress tie his hands?

They have been trying to get this war party started, and have given it the same kind of propaganda catapulting they gave to the Iraq invasion. Like they have always done, it is likely they picked October, because, as Andrew Card famously said about the Iraq propaganda campaign “you don’t introduce a new product in August’ or something very much like that. They will do it after the Dem. nominee is chosen, but before the election, for maximum effect. They may also suspend elections using the above cited Presidential directive 51. I too suggest reading Bugliosi’s article in Huffpost. These people should be stopped!

yes it’s very sad that the entire world views our precious States as being hostile. in my travels i have at times been afraid to offend people by saying i am an American. anyone else who has travelled knows what i am talking about. and i think it is a shame that we can’t even debate with one another without becoming crude and ridiculous, trying to one-up each other. it just proves that what people think about us is true. we have to prove otherwise. we have to get out of this backwards thinking that we can just disrespect everyone and then expect them to adopt our “values” and system of government.
the remark i have about the ACTUAL subject is similar. i am just very saddened by how hated (rightfully so) our president is. i hope so much that our next president will be honored, if not loved, and respected by each and every one of us, even if we can’t agree with him/her on every issue. and i most of all hope that he/she deserves it for all of our sakes.
