ABC: U.S. personnel at Gitmo did ‘dirty work’ for Chinese interrogators.»

ABC’s Justin Rood reports that buried in yesterday’s Department of Justice report on torture are allegations that in a 2002 arrangement, “U.S. military personnel at Guantanamo Bay allegedly softened up detainees at the request of Chinese intelligence officials who had come to the island facility to interrogate the men — or they allowed the Chinese to dole out the treatment themselves.”

When the history books of this time period are written, our descent into the moral abyss of torture will be our everlasting shame as a nation.

Will ABC be put on the Bushitlist with NBC?

Will Brian Williams go from pin-up boy to pick-up guy?

Bad humor aside, this clearly shows our military has become the World’s ‘tough guys’. How could we deny doing the Chinese a favor when they own our ass? Gitmo is going to be the Albatross around Bush’s ‘legacy’. They can polish it all they want, but history will recognize this administration as the ‘torture regime’ of George W. Bush.

  3. JMOHR Says:

Yes, we use old Soviet torture camps in eastern Europe and now we team up with those human rights loving Chinese. What a country of which to be proud.

  4. mary Says:

We, as a country, will never again be able to accuse anyone of torture while claiming to be better.

The bar has been brought down so low.

I think I’d like to see them kept together in a small glass cage erected on the Washington Mall, right next to a statue memorializing the military killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Imagine the Chinese and Americans interrogators mugging it up in their secret island retreat. Such a beautiful picture! And all in the name of Bush. Bush supporting the likes of the Chinese COMMUNISTS. And we thought Bush was a lover of DEMOCRACY. Democracy means only $$$$ to boy george.

  10. And Yet... Says:

Why isn’t this disgrace on the front page of every paper? Because even worse revelations are coming, maybe soon, maybe only after 1/09.

When BushCo leaves DC with their tails tucked in, watch the eight year reign of terror leak info like a sieve.

The USA is now human rights partners with China. Not only that, but the USA does some of the abuse that is too dirty for China.

As the Bushies like to invoke the Bible, what happened to Israel when it was apostate (see almost any of the Old Testament Prophets).

An interesting view of the new partners-in-torture of the USA:

Fire Under the Snow is the dramatic story of Palden Gyatso, a Tibetan Buddhist monk since childhood, who was arrested by the Chinese Communist Army in 1959. He spent the next thirty-three years in prison for the “crimes” of demonstrating peacefully and refusing to falsely denounce his teacher as an Indian spy. He was humiliated, tortured, starved, and forced to perform hard labor. He watched his nation and culture destroyed and his teachers, friends, and family displaced, jailed, or killed by the Chinese occupiers. Fire Under the Snow reveals the contours of a stunningly dramatic and inspirational story: the survival of a mind and a soul under unthinkable duress.

Some of the enhanced interrogation methods used by the chinese: standing barefoot in a frozen floor, where the feet’s skin adheres by cold, tied over a bonfire where chili was added to increase the pain, forced blood extractions to increase feebleness, sleep and food deprivation (sounds familiar?), forced work, beatings, a$$ rapings with electric canes designed to be used with cattle…

Nice join venture you have there.
