Today, the Senate entered the first day of its Memorial Day recess – but not before holding a brief pro forma session. “Without that procedural move, the Senate would technically be adjourned and President Bush could install administration officials or judges as ‘recess appointments’ — without Senate confirmation.” Sen. Sheldon Brown (D-OH), who presided over the session, said, “We’re not going to let them get away with that kind of abuse of power.”
Number 15,633 in the cases of abuse of power over the past 7.3 years.
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:34 pmSomething else for which Americans can be proud of their Senate.
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:37 pmThe next thing the Senate should not allow shrub get away with is avoiding his time in the dock at the World Court during his war criminal trial and subsequent execution.
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:39 pm“We’re not going to let them get away with that kind of abuse of power.”
So what kind of abuse of power are you going to let them get away with?
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:41 pmFor all of you New Yorkers out there, big brother is watching you.
(Sorry for the OT guys, but I find this disturbing. I wonder how the tax payers will fell about this)
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:41 pmErr. I think you mean Sen. Sherrod Brown.
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:44 pmSTOP THE BYTES!!! The Democrats not only found but used a loophole?!!?
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:45 pmIt is pitifull that no other congress has found it necessary to go to these lengths to avoid abuse of power. In the past, both parties slipped in recess appointments in rare cases. The congress usually let it slide. However, like most inhuman scum, Bush can only take everything to the limit without good taste, decency or morality.

There IS another way to keep Bush from usurping the powers outlined in the Constitution…
I M P E A C H
GEORGE W. BUSH
.
May 23rd, 2008 at 5:54 pmAnd bowell2movement wonders why he gets flagged for abuse…
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:03 pmIt’s really too bad that they have to continue to go through this ridiculous exercise to keep Bush under control.
On another note, today Hillary Clinton sunk to the lowest of low. She brought up the assassination of Bobby Kennedy as a reason for staying in this race. I really thought she had gone as low as she could go…but then she went and fooled me.
She is at this point certifiable.

No he doesn’t wonder; he knows. He comes here because he has nobody else to talk to. He tries talking to Limbaugh, but Rush never speaks back to him through the TV. I think our troll feels a connection the much smarter folks here at TP. I am hopeful we can help him be a better human being, but I am not optimistic.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:07 pmWell Savage also said that the democrats caused judge Roberts to have a seizure. Hes a conspiracy squirrel looking for nutty followers and apparently has found one in B2M
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:10 pmAnybody want to posit what boys2men would score on the Stanford-Binet IQ test? First quartile perhaps?
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:11 pm“We’re not going to let them get away with that kind of abuse of power.”
But the other abuses of power are just fine….he deserves jail time, impeach and go to trial, then off to the land of orange jump suits.

I think he probably lost his way to the test site. Is it possible he could have scored better by not actually taking the test? Maybe they gave him a mercy score, because his self confidence is at an all time low. Hate to see a grown troll cry.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:16 pmI think B2M saw the name ‘Stanford’ and knew he wouldn’t qualify.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:27 pm“We’re not going to let them get away with that kind of abuse of power.”
Sure they are – they have been letting them get away with it for years.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:31 pmHillary issues her own fatwa today, looking for a hero like Lee Harvey Oswald, or perhaps a Tanya Harding to please, please, please clear the way for her to be President.
The Clintons are destroying their standing with Democrats, at least with this one. What a total btch.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:42 pmYeah, it’s shame that georgie has to be watched like a 6 year old pyro with a book of matches.
May 23rd, 2008 at 6:52 pmCan’t leave that little shit alone for a minute.
All of the senators could take all of the holidays off if they would “convince” Nancy PollLoser to start impeachment proceedings!!!!
May 23rd, 2008 at 8:39 pmThe mere necessity of these types of procedural roadblocks speaks deafeningly about the complete dysfunction of our government.
Yes, folks… We have to have Uncle Congress stop by the house twice a day to make sure the kids don’t have a kegger while the parents are out of town…
May 24th, 2008 at 1:26 amImpeachment is NOT enough. They can then enjoy their lives on their filthy gaina.
May 24th, 2008 at 3:01 amProsecute Bush then Cheny then Rice the Rumsfeld and the rest for murder. The murders of over 4000 US service men. It’s possible!
It’s Sen. Sherrod Brown.
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse.
May 24th, 2008 at 1:30 pmI suppose it’s a start, at least…now what do they intend to do about the numerous abuses of power which Bush has gotten away with?!?
