Washington Post calls out McCain on the ‘voodoo economics’ of his ‘fantasy war on earmarks.’

Picking up where ThinkProgress and Center for American Progress Action Fund’s Scott Lilly left off, the Washington Post’s fact checker Michael Dobbs describes as “fantasy” Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) claim that he can “eliminate $100 billion of wasteful and earmark spending immediately.” In fact, Dobbs gives McCain four Pinocchios, his highest rating for deceit:

McCain’s talk about eliminating $100 billion a year in earmarks is largely fantasy. His advisers are now promoting a more realistic plan of eliminating $100 billion in overall spending. But it is difficult to take even that promise very seriously given the fact that the senator refuses to identify exactly which projects he will be cut. To use a phrase coined by George H.W. Bush, this is “voodoo economics,” based more on wishful thinking than on hard data or carefully considered policy proposals.

Cut $100 billion in earmarks, huh?

Is that before or after he brings the price of gas down to $2 a gallon? What about bringing peace to the Middle East? Before or after that?

Emergency funding for the Iraq and Afgan wars could be considered earmarks. It’s actually his secret plan to end the occupation of Iraq: stop subsidizing the private armies.

McCain doesn’t understand Economics as he said because his wife supports him so he’s never had to look at numbers. Obama showed he knows little about Economics when he brought a 1.6 million dollar home he couldn’t afford so he made a deal with Reko the crook. This is the choice Americans have to make both are clueless and both will bring the US to the second Great Depression. As for Americans well nothing was said about the Bush Administration putting the US in a recession so it looks like stay the course is working. China gas price is $1.54 per gallon, Russia’s gas price is $1.45 per gallon by the way with the help of the Bush Administration US gas price is now over 4 dollars per gallon. Both McCain/Obama will not change the raise of oil prices nor will the law makers. Our Government Leaders are shareholders and doing very well with their quarterly profits. McCain might be able to pay back his wife and Obama will be able to buy a more expensive home if elected President. It’s all about the money. As Mrs. Obama said Blacks should wake up and vote for her husband just because he’s black. Well that was done before after the Civil Rights Bill passed. Yes Black Leaders rose up with the help of the black vote and took the money and sold out the race. History has a way of teaching these if only people would read. McCain was brought and paid for with the fake story of his POW days. McCain just forgot to say he used his Father’s Officer position to get better treatment then his fellow soldiers. Nothing like a big name to get special treatment. But the story changed when McCain got home to make him look good. But he never did get those Family Values right. He dumped his wife and kids for the money girl and the fame. But behind the closed doors McCain let’s his owner wife know what he thinks. If the Media ever looked deep in the prostitution cases of White House friends and even Wilkes case they might find McCain was a naughty boy. The Prosecutors in the Palfrey case knew she didn’t have a sex business but given her list of clients would have been embarrassing for some powerful people. It’s better to push a woman to kill herself with a set up charge with fixed Judge, jurors and witnesses then to say publicly that three GOP Powerful Law Makers used a Fantasy Business they found in the yellow pages. Good news for those three Law Makers is that there are thousands of legal businesses like Jean Palfrey still in the Yellow Pages and doing very with as their not criminal services.

Biggest earmark is the entire ethanol program. We are wasting an equal amount of energy in producing same. We could take that natural gas and make power for example. And the govt subsidises a clear waste!! All for votes in the farm states and the price of food keeps going the same way as gas. UP, UP, UP
