This is truly embarassing. The Bush/McCain Republican Party is reduced to holding what are little more than political Tupperware parties because they are unable to sell enough tickets to make paying for an arena cost-effective in John McCain’s home state. I predict McCain will be lucky to get 200 Electoral votes and will lose the popular to Obama by double digits. This is a very, very, very bad year to be a Republican.

McCain’s candidacy is generating enthusiasm primarily amongst the establishment media who cover it. Less than one year ago, his campaign was considered moribund, because so few Republicans liked him and so many others despised him. Now he is the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee, because all the other candidates (Ron Paul excluded) were more suited for jobs as circus clowns than president. As the Obama bandwagon gains steam, I expect to see him attract crowds even larger than the 75,000 who saw him in Portland. What we have in this election is a massive enthusiasm gap that may get wider as the differences between the two candidates become increasingly apparent.
