The reason these whackjobs oppose gay marriage so vehemently is simple. Allowing gay couples to file joint tax returns cuts down on the amount of taxes they pay. Headcases like these will have to pay their fair share to send their little inbreds to school under this system.

Wayne. I’m not sure how mess up things are now, but if you are correct and things are that bad, I have faith in our system of government.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that progressives will gain power in the congress in the upcoming election. It is also a safe bet that Obama will win the White House.

If the progressive claims of Bush’s trampling of the Constitution are correct, new leaders will rectify the situation. I believe that our circumstance is not dire. We will collectively moderate our government over time.

Despite the sentiment of the day, we are fortunate to have a relatively flexible system that can generally accomodate the needs of the people. Whatever we decide those needs are.

I agree with you on that one.

That is why when the Constitution is violated by other branches,such as the DOJ, then that contract with the citizens is breached and life, liberty and justice is no longer guaranteed for any of us…
If our government is openly breaking the law, where does it stop?

Things are freakin’ pretty messed up right now. IMHO.
Very similar to 1912, when Teddy Roosevelt decried the rampant, corrupt abuse of power by Republicans and the Democrats for their total incompetent ineffectiveness to stop the lawbreaking.

Thanks, McWars. Actually, it’s a trip to take my mom to Ohio to see an Aunt, but we’re stuck here because my mom landed in the hospital. So, not all that enjoyable. :-)

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I understand the idea of disobeying an immoral order. And, I guess to some people, the idea of homosexual marriage is immoral. Okay.

But, it is striking that the level of homophobia is so great, that these people want to equate homosexual marriage to Nazis killing Jews. Where do you start with that? It’s ridiculous.

Kudos to TP for helping to shine the light of day on this kind of bigotry, and frankly, idiocy.

The ruling from the 9th circuit was outstanding. It’s one of the reasons our systems works.

Some will disagree with me when I say this, but this ruling highlights the reason why it is important that the founding father’s insisted our system not be a true democracy, but rather a representational republic.

If we lived in a true democracy – the majority of voters in California that oppose gay marriage could deny the liberty of it’s gay and lesbian citizens.

Just because a majority of the citizens want something, doesn’t mean that it is the right or best thing for the country. Unlimited power to the people can compromise the liberties of the minority.
