McCain afraid of being seen with Bush tomorrow.

The Wall Street Journal’s Laura Meckler writes that President Bush and John McCain’s joint fund-raiser in Phoenix tomorrow will be the “first time in three months” the two will be seen together. But the McCain campaign is trying its hardest to ensure cameras don’t capture the moment:

bush2.jpgThe pair will be seen together before TV cameras only fleetingly, at the airport as Mr. Bush departs on Air Force One, and there are no plans for either to formally say anything. [...]

A senior adviser to Sen. McCain said the campaign considered the risk of having the candidate appear with the president at all but concluded there was no way to avoid it given that the event was in Sen. McCain’s home state.

A McCain adviser underscored that “the time Sen. McCain spends with the president will be limited.”

Digg It!

  2. Freedom Rebel says:

John is promoting a Third Bush Administration and doesn’t want a photo op with him.. That is priceless. You have got to love the irony. It couldn’t happen to a more deserving person. Sometimes there is divine justice..

  3. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Are they actually going to pretend that if we don’t see the two of them together this time, we will all forget the many, many times that McCain has supported Bush when he was totally, 100% in the wrong?

  4. DieNowForPeace says:

What? You mean McCain isn’t going to wear his I “heart” George shirt either?

  5. DieNowForPeace says:

    You mean like this CJ?

Because a Christian scientist discovered that each man’s stupidity is indeed contagious ……….

  7. blue state bob says:

    Too late, way too late.

And even if you don’t want to be seen with him, wanting to continue his failed, miserable, horrific, immoral policies is much more damning.

  9. ArtZ says:

If McCain is afraid to be seen with President Bush…
What else would he be afraid of?
Do we really want such a man to be President of the United States?
Don’t be afraid John. Face your fears!

Ah hell, this is too easy.

  11. dbadass says:

Where is the pic of the two of them with McCain’s illegitimate love child? Why would anyone pal around with anyone who disrespected their family in such a way?

  12. GSD says:

Come November Americans will see Bush and McAnger as though they were conjoined twins.

Not to mentioned the never missed huggys and kisses between the twins the past 8 years.

    -GSD

  13. Nevar says:

Seems like they are going to a lot of effort to NOT be seen together… which must cost more money, and perhaps defeat their whole purpose, that of raising funds…

  14. GSD says:

How can John McAnger deal with Al Qeda if he is afraid to be seen with George W. Bush?

    -GSD

  15. Leftside Annie says:

Ol’ Johnny McLame wants to have it all ways.

No, John, you CAN’T be president.

  16. Jess Wonderin says:

Yea, with ONLY a 95% voting record of supporting the Bush Administration Agenda, being SEEN with him is the LEAST of his problems . . . besides we have enough pictures of the “twins” to fill a Yearbook . . .

  17. chingebush says:

    dbadass,

You have it exactly right. If McCain were someone worth your respect, if he respected himself he would have never let Bush be part of his life,

Thank Jebus too, because if McCain had had the balls to smack down little Georgie, he would have earned enough respect that he could give Obama a run for his money, Instead he pulled up his skirts and showed us the loose lips of a whore.

See ya Johnnny, you have nothing buddy. Nothing.

  18. abarts says:

I want a picture of him smelling the other armpit this time.

  19. Zooey says:

Maybe McCain doesn’t realize that this new-fangled invention called a “camera” captures images, so that others may then observe them.

Maybe he can find his soul inside the camera…

  20. scytherius says:

HAHAHA And the conservatives think he is a coward for doing this. McCain is SO toast in this election. What an old fool.

  21. kasinca says:

You can run, McSame, but you can’t hide. Dubya is forever tattoed to your worthless ass.

  22. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >You mean like this CJ?

Yes, good stuff,,keep em commming, i hadnt seen about 25 percent of the pics posted so far…

  23. WaltTheMan says:

    DNfP,
No wonder the McC campaign is so short on funds. At 50 grand a pic, he must have been bled dry.

  24. Jackie says:

Let me see if I have this right. McCain was winning in 2000 election told to give his votes to Bush. McCain sold out to the voters for the Crime Team. Now McCain can’t fill a large area in his own State for fund raising so he uses someone’s home to hide a meeting with the Liar-in-Chief. As seen in Africa President Bush has to pay people to cheer for him. Now the only money McCain will get is from those who have to get rid of money for tax reasons. As far as the Big Spenders their busy that day. McCain can’t even get support from the people of Arizona why should the rest of the US vote for him. I just hope he doesn’t have another cancer surgery like he had in Feb. 2008 it might be harder to hide this time.

  25. green says:

Jackie – from my understanding, and I could be wrong – you can’t deduct campaign contributions. Unless of course you’re cheating – and that explains everything.

  26. Tawdry says:

#22 – And the tattoo on his ass is George’s lips.

  27. SP Biloxi says:

Too little, too late for Grampa Mcmetamucil. He sold himself to the devil with that bear hug.

  28. moondancer says:

You think being a pariah sits well with a narcissist like bush? I don’t think so either.
Next, any ideas on the next anger eruption by the fartful codger? I lose sleep wondering sometimes.

  29. Chocolate Jesus says:

    > Instead he pulled up his skirts and
    > showed us the loose lips of a whore.

wow. thanks to that image i dont think i’ll be getting aroused anytime this year…

  30. kathy says:

Clinton has taken Kentucky and Obama is right there in Oregon.
The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive – and most likely to be decided by superdelegates – as CNN points out clearly

    http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/20/primary.wrap/index.html

If you’re tired of waiting around for those super delegates to make a decision already, go to LobbyDelegates.com and push them to support Clinton or Obama

If you haven’t done so yet, please write a message to each of your state’s superdelegates at http://www.lobbydelegates.com

    Obama Supporters:

Sending a note to current Obama supporters lets them know it’s appreciated, sending a note to current Clinton supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Obama, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Obama. It’s that easy…

    Clinton Supporters too …. !

It takes a moment, but what’s a few minutes now worth to get Clinton in office?! Those are really worth !

Sending a note to current Clinton supporters lets them know it’s appreciated, sending a note to current Obama supporters can hopefully sway them to change their vote to Clinton, and sending a note to the uncommitted folks will hopefully sway them to vote for Clinton. It’s that easy…

  31. dumbstruck says:

What a legacy Bush will have….

  32. Louis Lemire says:

The Democratic race for nomination is still very much alive?

Obama needs 49 delegates (got 6 over the weekend to Clinton’s 1) and Clinton needs 249.

Sure – its still very much alive if the superdelegates plan on stealing it from Obama. A large part of the population will be very unhappy with that result.

I use to be a Clinton supported until I started counting up the lies she has told – not to mention the gutter politics and her inferior staff. I don’t like liars – and I don’t want another liar in the WH.

But very much alive? I doubt it.

  33. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

It’s already been mentioned several times throughout the comments that McCain will have problems distancing himself from Bush, so I won’t add my two cents on that subject.

What I want to know is this: Why is Bush using Air Force 1 to fly to fund raisers? Isn’t that illegal?

  34. Helen Hussein Rainier says:

Say what? You mean to tell me the “war hero” is too much of a coward to be seen with the most despised President in history? Never knew McCain was a chickenhawk in drag.

  35. Wayne A. Schneider says:

What I want to know is this: Why is Bush using Air Force 1 to fly to fund raisers? Isn’t that illegal?

That’s a very good question. They will probably have Bush fly some place to do something “official” so that the trip isn’t purely for campaign purposes. They will, as is always done (even by Clinton, I’m sure) follow the letter, if not the spirit, of the law.

Then if they get too much criticism for doing this, they will respond back with something like, “Well, would you rather he pollute the environment more by making two separate trips?” (This is meant to frame the discussion around the idea that both trips were necessary in the first palce, which they are not.)

  36. Keith H. says:

Just wait till corporate george is out of office, then they’ll really keep their distance.
Sometimes people just, well, aren’t quite as ‘on target’ as they’d like to be.

  37. cynicalgirl says:

I think McSame has to reimburse the taxpayers for use of AF1. Not sure how that works…

  38. trollsbwild says:

We do not need another four years of skulking around in the dark type of executive branch leadership. The GOP are dead in the water and the only thing that could revive them is Democratic Party stupidity. Sad part is, the Dems are truly capable of F’ing this up.

  39. GSD says:

From all of the pictures I have seen, it looks like you need a crow-bar to separate John McAnger from George W. Warmonger.

They look ready for a civil union for heaven’s sake.

    -GSD

  40. nanlichi says:

Why so subtle chingebush? We get the point and I totally agree that McCain whored himself by hugging Boy George like that. Bush is an anchor around McCain’s neck and will drag his ass to the bottom of the swamp. With the rest of the Repugs.

That’s their roots, down in the black muck and slime of a swamp.

  41. RUCerious says:

What! No hugging and armpit sniffing?

  42. ralph the wonder llama says:

So McSame is trying to ensure that cameras don’t catch him with his President?

Boy, this guy’s cagey. I’m sure that will work.

  43. theswan says:

republicans that never learn that being two-faced never seems to work.

  44. celtic cynic says:

There will be lots of kissy-kissy behind closed doors.

  45. octamethyl says:

I am still rather nervous that the amoral repug marketing team will still be able to pull a fast one and get McAncient into office.
