the more mcsame avoids bush the more they get tied together.

it's a relevant conundrum.

I just had to !LOL! while reading this line: "leader of the free world" ... NOT! GWBonehead is not the leader of freedom by any stretch of the imagination.

Fascist America, in 10 easy steps
by Naomi Wolf
The Guardian,
Tuesday April 24 2007

From Hitler to Pinochet and beyond, history shows there are certain steps that any would-be dictator must take to destroy constitutional freedoms. And, argues Naomi Wolf, George Bush and his administration seem to be taking them all

Because Americans like me were born in freedom, we have a hard time even considering that it is possible for us to become as unfree - domestically - as many other nations. Because we no longer learn much about our rights or our system of government - the task of being aware of the constitution has been outsourced from citizens' ownership to being the domain of professionals such as lawyers and professors - we scarcely recognise the checks and balances that the founders put in place, even as they are being systematically dismantled. Because we don't learn much about European history, the setting up of a department of "homeland" security - remember who else was keen on the word "homeland" - didn't raise the alarm bells it might have.

It is my argument that, beneath our very noses, George Bush and his administration are using time-tested tactics to close down an open society. It is time for us to be willing to think the unthinkable - as the author and political journalist Joe Conason, has put it, that it can happen here. And that we are further along than we realise.

Conason eloquently warned of the danger of American authoritarianism. I am arguing that we need also to look at the lessons of European and other kinds of fascism to understand the potential seriousness of the events we see unfolding in the US.

Compare and Contrast the "Harry Potter" novels with the McCain campaign when it comes to "He who must not be named"

“its daily e-mail update to reporters this morning, McCain’s campaign made no mention that the leader of the free world would be appearing with the candidate tonight.”

And yet McCain has every intention of continuing in Bush's footsteps if elected. It's easy to understand why nobody wants to be connected to Bush given that he's the worst president ever but a smarter person would ask why.

They must think we're all infants at that stage of development where if they can't see your face, you don't exist. Somehow, Bush and McCain got it into their heads that if there is no video of them together, then they were never together.

I am sure that they will do everything in their power (both inside and outside the law) to make sure we can't figure out who attended this fundraiser. And if you know anyone who will be attending this shindig (because I'm pretty sure none of them read this award-winning blog), make sure the rest of the world knows they were there.

Please read Wayne's post at 17. He asks the perfect questions. Why would Bush hide from his own choices? I fear we will never know the answer. Good job, Wayne.

The news broke on Saturday - the event was moved because they could not find enough Repugnantcans top fill the Convention Center ... yes - this is to avoid cameras - but also to avoid the embarrassment of an empty arena.

Now even their fundraisers are being kept secret!

The Republican party has become a giant private club in which only the top 5% richest of them gets to know what's going on. (The other 95% think they belong but don't realize that they're just being used.)

Gee, Mr. President, why do you feel you need to "avoid cameras"? I thought you believed you were doing the right thing in Iraq all along. Why are you going to hide? Might it be because you really can't defend yourself against charges that you started this war in Iraq for the sole purpose of there always being a war in Iraq? What's the matter, Mr. President? No longer proud of that decision (made in Jan 2001)?

Publicly distancing yourself from the President might be the smartest thing that McSame has done.... until he turns around and denies it (watch for that by Friday)
