ThinkProgress To Receive The Sidney Hillman Journalism Award Tonight
Most of the blogging crew are on our way up to New York City this morning, so expect lighter than usual posting on ThinkProgress today.
We’ll be receiving an award for journalism excellence from the Sidney Hillman Foundation at an event tonight at the Millenium Broadway Hotel in Manhattan. We’re extremely honored to join an esteemed company of award recipients, including Bill Moyers and the Writers Guild of America.
The festivities begin at 5:30 pm ET. If you’re interested, you can watch a webcast of the ceremony here.
We’ll be unveiling a short video at tonight’s event that helps explains what ThinkProgress is all about. We wanted to give our TP community a sneak preview. Check it out and let us know what you think:

Because of you, I am paying far more attention to what goes on in politics than in my first 59 years of life (I’m 64). Because of you, I am getting more involved in local elections. May 27th, 2008 at 2:22 pmThinkProgress is definitely preferable to such magazine type websites as mother jones, huffington post, and salon com, which revolve around opinion writers whose greatest talent always lies in deliberate ambiguity, aiming to catch several stereotypical readership blocs at once, so as to package and sell them to advertisers.
After going through the comments threads here for a few days, I can see that much the same readership blocs are present here, but they aren’t being manipulated here by opinion writers, they just get reportage on the new developments in the mass media campaigns they (and I) are determined to keep track of, neatly presented with all the necessary links, and no seduction attempts.
