Poll: Majority of Californians oppose overturning court’s gay marriage decision.
Two weeks after the California Supreme Court overturned the state’s gay marriage ban, a new Field Survey finds that 51 percent of registered Californian voters oppose a conservative-backed effort to “put a state constitutional amendment on the ballot in November” prohibiting gay marriage. Reuters reports:
The poll found that in recent decades a growing number of Californians have approved allowing same-sex couples to marry, with 51 percent of those polled now approving, up from 44 percent in 2006 and 30 percent in 1985.
UpdateAndrew Sullivan writes: "The initiative will be asking voters to do two disruptive things: change the state constitution and retroactively impugn these already-existing marriages. This is a tall order. And it's one more reason that the gay movement needs to understand that this referendum is the most important in the history of our civil rights struggle."

That’s worked in the past. Not so likely now. It will take more than that to turn blue-state California red. Plus people just aren’t as askeered of gays kissing as they used to be.
However, other conservatives in other states also see the California Supreme Court’s ruling as manna from heaven. it will provide advertising fodder for anti-gay initiatives in other states. And the people who bring about these initiatives could really care less about whether gays get married or not — they just want to get the homophobes off their couches and into voting booths.

Yeah Daryll, our ally Pakistan has just done a bang up job helping us out thus far, eh? Billions of dollars down the drain, Al Qaeda is reconstituted in the FATA along the Pakistani-Afghan border, Musharraf has been squelching freedom in Pakistan, smothering any political opposition, and just basically EMBARRASSING us through association in general. He practically handed the REAL Al Qaeda that was actually responsible for 9/11 a nice little safe haven on a silver platter. Hell, he might as well have thrown in a lower mortgage rate just to seal the deal.
Israel is a great ally too. The only country that enflames the Middle East more than we do. They did a great job fostering warm feelings towards us and themselves when the bombed the ever-loving sh1t out of pretty much ALL of Lebanon because a couple of extremist morons on the border launched rockets into Israel. Lebanon doesn’t harbor Hezbollah, they just can’t get rid of them. So for that Israel decided they should all suffer, and we agreed. Great job we did there. Winning lots of hearts and minds we are.

I think we’ve been doing that with Iraq. And look how well that’s been turning out. Gas is up to over 4 bucks a gallon, our military is just about broken, our dollar has nosedived, our economy has tanked, and we have earned the emnity of the rest of the world.
If we do the same thing with Iran for roughly the same reasons (rumors of WMD), look for gas to get much higher, the dollar to get much lower, our economy to be in ruins, our military just about wiped out, China virtually owning our country, and the anger of the rest of the world going from simmer to full boil.
And guess what? Gays will STILL be allowed to marry in California!
Oh — one more thing. Since your motivation for warmongering is to hasten the “end times”, did it ever occur to you that if God has an “end times” in mind, He probably has a plan of His own? And can probably execute it without your help? Who do you think you are to presume His ways?
