In an explosive new memoir, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan writes that the Bush administration engaged in a “political propaganda campaign” to sell the Iraq war and that it misled him on the Valerie Plame scandal. Today, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino slammed McClellan today as a “disgruntled” employee; former press secretary Ari Fleischer said he was “heartbroken.”
Other former White House officials started the smear campaign last night. Karl Rove, interviewed on Hannity and Colmes, asserted that McClellan sounded more like “a left-wing blogger” than himself. Former Homeland Security adviser Frances Townsend, interviewed on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, called McClellan “self-serving” and “disingenuous.”
Watch it:
McClellan is experiencing the same automatic smear response the White House deploys against former allies who dare to criticize the administration, including former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan or former head of faith-based initiatives John DiIulio. Some other lowlights:
Former Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill
WROTE: Bush planned in invade Iraq before 9/11 and was like a blind man in a roomful of deaf people” during Cabinet meetings.
SMEAR: “We didn’t listen to [O'Neill's] wacky ideas when he was in the White House, why should we start listening to him now?” — A senior official who informed Bush of O’Neill’s comments, 1/12/04
Former Campaign Chief Strategist Matthew Dowd
SAID: Bush has “become more, in my view, secluded and bubbled in”; that “our leaders have to understand what they [the American public] want. They’re saying, ‘Get out of Iraq.’”
SMEAR: “He’s going through a lot of personal turmoil but also he has a son who is soon to be deployed to Iraq. That could only impact a parents’ mind as they think through these issues.” — Dan Bartlett, 4/1/07
Former Counter-Terrorism Chief Richard Clarke
WROTE: Bush “ignored terrorism for months”; sought to tie 9/11 to Iraq immediately.
SMEAR: “He wanted to be the deputy secretary of the Homeland Security Department after it was created. … He did not get that position, someone else was appointed to it. … His best friend is Rand Beers, who is the principal advisor to the Kerry campaign.” — Scott McClellan, while serving as press secretary, 3/22/04
According to the Politico, a “former colleague” said of McClellan: “It looks like a fairly pathetic attempt to restore his reputation by junking the only positive attribute people saw in him — loyalty.”
Scotty is running for the NO SHIT SHERLOCK award of the year.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:09 pmWOW! They shoot former press secretaries who kiss and tell, don’t they!
May 28th, 2008 at 1:11 pmAnd we are surprised by the Repug’s action because ………
May 28th, 2008 at 1:11 pmScott, meet the underside of the GOP bus…
May 28th, 2008 at 1:12 pmI wonder if there are any clips out there of scotty smearing one of his predecessors who kissed and told. (And in the context of the current republican party, kissing may not be a metaphor>)
May 28th, 2008 at 1:13 pmFormer Homeland Security adviser Frances Townsend, interviewed on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, called McClellan “self-serving” and “disingenuous.”
Yeah
As opposed to all the other former Chimpy administration members who have written books in an attempt to fob off blame onto everyone else…………..
May 28th, 2008 at 1:14 pmWell, if you read the Politico article, Scotty is totally self-serving. I’m sure the wingnuts are not looking at it the same way I do, but there you have it.
The sort of “loyalty” demanded by the Right is totally creepy…
May 28th, 2008 at 1:15 pmToday, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino slammed McClellan today as a “disgruntled” employee
Wow
What a remarkably accurate asssessment , considering the guy left of his own accord and wasn’t forced out or fired in any way ; stick to admitting your ignorance about US history from here on in , toots………….It suits you much better.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:16 pmAs I mentioned in the ThinkFast thread, I think a big reason why Scotty was such a terrible liar as a press secretary is that he had a smidgen of a conscience. Not enough to give him a spine, mind you — just enough to make him uncomfortable with the lies he was paid to tell.
So I don’t have a lot of respect for Scotty, but I do have some sympathy for him.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:16 pmScotty, meet petard.
I don’t feel a single ounce of pity for that pudgy little mamser. If he truly had a conscience, he would have blown the whistle a very long time ago.
Too little, too late, Scotty.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:19 pmMSNBC’s David Gregory reports that President Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book.
Most likely, because there’s no pictures in it for him to color.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:20 pmAnnie, have a heart. All Scotty is, is a cowardly little weasel who, much like his boss, was thrust into a position for which he was ill-prepared. Unlike his boss, I don’t get that Scotty is evil, just pathetic.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:22 pmThe long hard road to redemption…
Good luck with that.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:23 pmSorry, no sympathy here for McClellan. He knew what he was doing all along- he helped lie us into endless ME war, helped thwart a Fed investigation into the Plame outing, just two among many, many examples of BushCo national malfeasance.
As I said in that same ThinkFast thread, ralph @ 9, It’s great free entertainment watching them eating their own, Scottie being the latest. I need more popcorn…
May 28th, 2008 at 1:26 pm#11, RTWL,
He’s probably having a hard time with multi-syllable words. That and sentances with more that 5 words make his brain hurt. Add in the fact that this book is dragging him away from the happy, happy world he and his staff keep him in and he’s truly a sad, sad Mr. President. As so many have said before, reality has such a very liberal bias.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:26 pmImpeach Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution.
Abu Ben Hussein Leporello.
Ralph, I understand what you’re staying…
But…that said, I am far beyond the point where I can muster up more than a teensy speck of pity for these pathetic, cowardly, sycophantic little weasels who simply followed orders.
I didn’t. I wouldn’t.
Neither would you.
Why should Scott McClellan get a pass?
May 28th, 2008 at 1:26 pmI am not surprised by the smear campaign. However, this is typical of any administration. One can understand why. Members of the administration are typically true believers who are loyal to those who appointed them. The villainization is seen as necessary spin to protect the political power of the administration. This is true of republican and democratic administrations.
The system eventually corrects for this problem. You can only blame disgruntled employees for so long. After awhile it gets to be fairly obvious that something else is going on. We should have passed that threshold long ago. There have now been so many disgruntled, insane former officials criticizing the administration that most people have caught on. We should be fairly distressed that it took such a long time. There just seemed to be so many Kool Aide drinkers out there.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:27 pmDavid also expressed amazement this morning at Scott’s charge of the dismal showing of the national media on the lead-up to the Iraq War…in which he and most of his fellow “newspeople” were too cowardly to challenge the lies pouring out the White House…
I guess admitting to this undeniable fact would shatter poor David’s whole world view of himself and his profession…
Gregory is still in deep denial on his crimes…
May 28th, 2008 at 1:30 pmKarl Rove, interviewed on Hannity and Colmes, asserted that McClellan sounded more like “a left-wing blogger” than himself.
That’s because like Scotty in this instance, left wing bloggers tell, disseminate and value the truth! This is especially the case when it means speaking truth to power!
May 28th, 2008 at 1:31 pmFormer Homeland Security adviser Frances Townsend, interviewed on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360, called McClellan “self-serving” and “disingenuous.”
She ought to know. They’re masters of the art.
Cheers,
May 28th, 2008 at 1:32 pmSimply because we can recognize that he’s not the caliber of person you and I are.
I’m not willing to give him a pass by any means. But I think a little sympathy is in order. He was a little cog. He did what Cheney, Rove, Bush told him. He didn’t do it particularly well, and I think that’s because some tiny shred of humanity kept him from buying into it with the gusto of Ari or Tony Snow.
Sure, this book is probably self-serving, but, looking back, it kind of makes sense that he would respond this way. And it could be a valuable record, even if it’s of suspect trustworthiness, in the ongoing argument of whether Bush has been the Worst. President. Ever.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:34 pmRather revealing that, while making all sorts of insulting remarks about McClellan, none of them are denying the content of his book. Of course, they can’t do that with any honesty— but then, that never stopped them before.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:34 pmOr maybe David will ultimately say that Scotty (and Ari, and Tony and Dana) are all such liars that he and the rest of the BushCo cod-piece sniffers couldn’t see through all the BS.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:34 pmROFLMAO….All of this is so funny, ha, ha to me…..The reich wing will use their word’s to cut little pudge to ribbon’s…He finelly get’s a concesious and all of us watch while they all self distruct….My guess is, Scotty is trying to use some of his knoledge to escape persacution or having to testify in the future…Since (he) and many other’s can see the tide has changed..Next, and this is only a guess since I have not read the book, he is getting back at bull shit bush..It must feel good to do a pay back at this point….I would like to see a big pay back with all of them in jail..Blessings
May 28th, 2008 at 1:37 pmIf they make ya, they can break ya.
This isnt loyalty they speak of, its a trade off. Scotty got fame and fortune and they got a kowtow.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:37 pmMSNBC’s David Gregory reports that President Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book.
Because it cannot be added to the farce called the “George Bush Presidential Library” , where only dishonesty and revisionism is on the available list…………
May 28th, 2008 at 1:38 pmupside99 right on! Dave Gregory is a cod piece to this regime. Of course MSNBC had to give him a show for his good works.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:39 pmWell, Ralph, OK. You win.
I’ll tell the little bastid I’m sorry – before I kick him in the balls. ;o)

May 28th, 2008 at 1:42 pmMaybe Scottie would like to join us?
FEEL THE FORCE, DENY THE DARKSIDE.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:43 pmAccording to the Politico, a “former colleague” said of McClellan: “It looks like a fairly pathetic attempt to restore his reputation by junking the only positive attribute we saw in him — dishonesty.”
May 28th, 2008 at 1:43 pmIt’s pathetic when they can’t even go on the record to smear McLellan. “Former colleague?” Please, Karl.
Karl is so lawyered up, and he’s just itching to tell his story. It’s gonna slip out.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:47 pmHas anyone asked McSurge if he shit himself upon hearing that Scotty has claimed the Chimpy administration used “political propaganda campaign” to sell the Iraq war ?
How does he feel about his “experience” and “decision making” , now that its been revealed he was conned like a typical rube ?
May 28th, 2008 at 1:47 pmIf you don’t like the message, destroy the messenger, and the media will be distracted by the bloodletting, and totally forget to report on the message.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:49 pmScottie still isn’t coming clean. Oh sure, he’s telling us what we already knew, but he let’s Busch off the hook every time.
Busch has been complicit in everything !!

May 28th, 2008 at 1:49 pmMSNBC’s David Gregory reports that President Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book.
Don’t worry, David, the American people are “disappointed” and “saddened” by President Bush.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:50 pmMCMetal: “Conned like a typical rube” would be the upside.
I believe McWarmonger knew the truth the whole time and willingly participated in the feces-flinging that masqueraded as “truth” in the run-up to the war.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:51 pmLet’s see if I’ve got this straight:
As long as you’re working for Bush, you’re brilliant.
If you speak the truth once you’re out of the administration, you’re a loser and you’ve always been a loser.
Check. Got it.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:52 pmThe Truth always saddens and disappoints George W. Bush.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:52 pmWell, it looks as if the order for that extra porch rocking chair is being cancelled.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:53 pmAmong the more fascinating if less significant revelations in Scott McClellan’s new book is his discussion of George W. Bush’s past use of cocaine. Bush, McClellan now claims, told him he couldn’t remember whether or not he used coke. That, of course, is a far cry from the response of Governor Bush offered Americans during the 2000 campaign. And as it turns out, McClellan, too, was telling the public white lies.
For the details, see:
May 28th, 2008 at 1:54 pm“McClellan Then and Now on Bush’s Cocaine Use.”
I’ll second that Zooey. I wonder if criticism of their farts would mean disloyalty.

May 28th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
I’m not certain he was privy to it from the get-go , Annie ; I could be wrong (and probably am a lot) , but I just don’t see that McMoron would be that close to all the inner workings of all the lies of the Chimpy administration so soon after the ugliness between the 2 pieces of crap and the nastiness of the 2000 GOP presidential campaign.
That’s my view of it , anyway……….
May 28th, 2008 at 1:54 pm… and he had such high hopes for the Truth. They were gonna liberate Iraq together, cut taxes on the rich together, and the economy was gonna grow like gangbusters.
Then Truth had to disappoint the President, so he had no choice but to turn his back on it.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:55 pmDavid Gregory should know he was in on the scam too. Yes Andrea Mitchell helped the White House with the lies. Now Scotty was paid well to lie but always treat like a rug but he did as he was told and spread the Propaganda. The Foreign Press and the United Nations knew the White House was lying when Powell openly knowingly lied to the United Nations. Now the crooks want to turn on each other by selling books for profit. The shocker to Americans will be when the truth that the White House and Saudis were really responsible for the 9/11 attack which back fired. Now American brought the lie about Osama Bin Laden hook line and sinker. Why? As the Bin Laden family was in New York City at a meeting with other wealthy investor of the Carlye Group before the attack of the WTC. Yes all the Power men behind the GOP were there and the discussion of how to milk the US for profit. As most on the East coast knew the WTC was said to be made with the best and most expensive material that could with stand anything. So the idiot criminal team sit up the plane attack thinking it would only effect the top floors. That’s why the second plane had to circle around to make sure of the target. Little did the idiot team know the builders lied and used cheap material and you know the rest. Now to the cover up. Cheney knew he hired Osama long again and he could be used because he didn’t like the corruption that was going on by the Big Oil Companies. In comes Saddam who was an easy target and little friends plus Halliburton’s CEO Dick Cheney saw free oil and even an area to attack other Middle Eastern countries for their oil. Americans seem to forget Bush saying after we bring Saddam down the US will have cheap oil prices. Yes the Saudis played along and let the idiots think they were in charge knowing all along who these greedy stupid American Leaders worked. Bush was watched by Bandar until the mission was completed and he left. What was the mission it was to bring the US to a recession, weak dollar and weaken the Military and it worked. Now the heart breaker is Americans will have to face that fact we were used by the White House, Media and Law Makers. Military families will have to deal with the fact our soldiers didn’t die to free Iraqis or WMD’s it was all about the oil and power to control the Middle East. Plus Isreal used the US to try to steal more land without getting their hands dirty. We put Bush in office twice and it seems we’re going for the third strike out in 2008.
Other White House criminals will be selling their story for profit such as Powell who knew he was sending soldiers to die based on lies and look for Connie Rice and Mr. Yoo to try to make money off their corruption. Gonzales will have to have someone write his book as he can’t find a job. He might have to join his sister Teresa Gonzales in the drug selling business. Some many lies and the destruction of this country in only 7 years. But Americans can’t blame only but themselves or like everything blame Bill Clinton.
May 28th, 2008 at 1:57 pm“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.”
-Sir Winston Churchill
May 28th, 2008 at 1:57 pmwell, as i said earlier on FAST:
thank you, scott…
now, be a REAL real man and stick with it… non of that “suicide” crap… get yourself some protection from your criminal pals and keep going forward…
maybe even do the REAL right thing and talk nancy into putting that impeachment thing back on her table…
i dunno…
but, thanks for the vindication, none the less…
even if it IS self-serving… ’cause, well, imagine that…
human nature…
doesn’t mean i like him or admire any more, just glad for
May 28th, 2008 at 1:57 pmthe vindication…
Ah — the smear machine is alive and well. However, as the power of Bushco diminishes, more former Bushbots will find their voices (even if it’s just to make money selling their books). The eventual flood will look like the candy conveyor belt in front of Lucy and Ethel — and like Lucy and Ethel, the smear machine won’t be able to keep up.
I’m sure that Scott’s book DID sound like the work of a left-wing blogger to Rove. Anything that sounds remotely like the truth probably does.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:01 pmSo he is loyal while lying for them, but disgruntled when he tells the truth? Is that how the right side works? Isn’t the ‘truth’, just the truth? McClelland is still a traitor for collecting my taxpayer money while lying to the planet. He’s going straight to hell.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:03 pmI was just wondering what left winged blogger rover boy was refering to.LOL.Blessings
May 28th, 2008 at 2:05 pmAnd, Scott McClellan singlehandedly pulled off the Bay of Pigs invasion, right Dana?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:07 pmZooey Says:

yeah, well they say that’s what happens when you sell your soul.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pmAnd, Scott McClellan singlehandedly pulled off the Bay of Pigs invasion, right Dana?
McClellan is the size of a bay of pigs…(sorry, I couldn’t resist).
May 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pmMSNBC’s David Gregory reports that President Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book.
Must be somewhere close to the truth, then, huh?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pmI posted this earlier. It bears repeating.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:09 pm.
Pay close attention to the detractors of Scott McClellan’s book as they try to discredit his account.
They will say he was really an outsider and not present at key meetings.
They will say he is a former employee who has an axe to grind.
They will say he may have felt betrayed by Rove and Libby for some reason.
.
However, they will not say that what he says is false.
They will not call him a liar.
They can’t.
Fran Townsend got off Scott Free for her sorry White House Lessons Learned report on Hurricane Katrina. No wonder she took offense at Scotty McClellan’s assertions of a disastrous Bush response. It makes her cover up look paltry. How does one write an investigation that omits the hospital with the largest number of patient deaths post landfall? Frances Townsend did just that.

But, the real question is…are Republicans made in China, too?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:14 pmI think we can all agree that McClellan’s book doesn’t come as that much of a surprise, but there’s a lot that has been overlooked. I recommend you check here for more.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:15 pmArt Says:
However, they will not say that what he says is false.
They will not call him a liar.
They can’t.
of course not, they can’t even tell the difference. When all you do is intertwine lie with truth on a daily basis you tend to see them both as one and the same.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:17 pmYa know if God Himself showed up and said Bush was a scum-bag Michael Savage would say we should kill God in a drive-by.
These people are not only dumber than shit they are dangerous.
So all you twits out there who won’t vote for Obama or Clinto ’cause your candidate isn’t nominated . . . if you vote for McInsane you are voting for these people.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:18 pmA snippet from the book:
“‘The media won’t let go of these ridiculous cocaine rumors,’ I heard Bush say. ‘You know, the truth is I honestly don’t remember whether I tried it or not. We had some pretty wild parties back in the day, and I just don’t remember.’”
“I remember thinking to myself, How can that be?” McClellan wrote. “How can someone simply not remember whether or not they used an illegal substance like cocaine? It didn’t make a lot of sense.”
Bush, according to McClellan, “isn’t the kind of person to flat-out lie.”
“So I think he meant what he said in that conversation about cocaine. It’s the first time when I felt I was witnessing Bush convincing himself to believe something that probably was not true, and that, deep down, he knew was not true,” McClellan wrote. “And his reason for doing so is fairly obvious — political convenience.”
In the years that followed, McClellan “would come to believe that sometimes he convinces himself to believe what suits his needs at the moment.” McClellan likened it to a witness who resorts to “I do not recall.”
“Bush, similarly, has a way of falling back on the hazy memory to protect himself from potential political embarrassment,” McClellan wrote, adding, “In other words, being evasive is not the same as lying in Bush’s mind.”
May 28th, 2008 at 2:19 pmRepublicans are made in the U.S. as are Democrats and Independents. However, Republicans with only ambition and lies on their minds are made in hell. They not only gave the party a bad rep, they gave humanity a bad rep.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:20 pmNo love or forgiveness for this pudgy little turd but he does for a day or so remind everyone that the Iraq war was not a “mistake” but instead a calculated deception. Makes it a little harder for McNutzi and his entourage to persuade the masses to forget how it all started. Meanwhile, I do take some small pleasure in watching this pack of scum eat another one of their own.

May 28th, 2008 at 2:25 pmmary, I think a George Costanza quote is quite appropriate here:
“it’s not a lie, if you believe it.”
May 28th, 2008 at 2:26 pmWhile I was deeply disappointed in Mr. McLellan’s transparent lies while he was WH Press Secretary, I believe it’s important to allow for the possibility of a “conversion.” After all, what of Ms. Huffington, or Mr. Brock?
Perhaps the scales have finally fallen from Mr. McLellan’s eyes. Given what a poor liar he was as WHPS, I suspect he was conflicted even while he did the job.
As to the others in the WH, my guess is that it’s some variant on Stockholm Syndrome.
That, or they realize that the VP knows where they live.

Scotty a true Republican still cannot take responsibility for his lies, still has to blame the White House Press Corp for being too easy. To get a true look at Republican fever watch Recount on HBO, the producer caught the viciousness of those who will sell their soul to win.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:27 pmthat’s really funny, I just got laid off and I was offered a severence on the condition I wouldn’t talk about “things.” Something to do with the good will for or of the company. hmmm, I wonder if these ex-goofs were offered the same kinda contract?

May 28th, 2008 at 2:29 pmralph – I tend to be sympathetic to your sympathy.
I remember watching Scotty squirm & sweat. Sometimes he’d look kind of flushed, other times pale and nervous. He wasn’t very good at lying. Not like the others who have held that position in this administration FULL of liars.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:30 pmI agree with an above post, Scotty would do well to get a food taster for awhile. And the Bushies shut a divorced wife up real quick when she was talking of Georgie and cocaine. She alleged threats on her life. Hmmmmm.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:30 pmralph, I think you’re right. I’ve know a crap load of people that will believe a lie that actually made up!
May 28th, 2008 at 2:31 pmyeah, well they offered me a piece of sheiss part time with a pay cut so I voluntarily declined.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:33 pmThe White House also smeared people like David Kuo for saying Bush’s faith-based initiatives were really all about politics. They smeared Christie Todd Whitman when she said the White House interfered on EPA rulings and research, and that the Bush White House politicized the EPA. They smeared former FEMA head Mike Brown (of heckuva job Brownie fame) when he said the Bush administration was too slow to take action on Hurrican Katrina. The White House smeared Michael Griffin when he said the White House politicized NASA. They smeared former Republican US Attorneys who wouldn’t trump up bogus charges against Democrats.
Their smears of McClellan are just the latest in a long line of smears against people who point out their criminal behaviour.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:34 pmit’s his conscience that made him squirm and sweat. It probably kept him up at night with dreams of chimpy’s big fat lying face. or rather cheney in drag saying, “waa”

May 28th, 2008 at 2:37 pmInteresting note; Scotty waited on his book until his mother Carol Strayhorn lost her bid for Texas Governor and his brother, Mark left his posts as head of Ctrs for Medicare and Medicaid and then Commissioner of FDA. Hope they all got other jobs before the bushes slam the doors shut and they have many doors.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:37 pmtexaslady Says:
I agree with an above post, Scotty would do well to get a food taster for awhile. And the Bushies shut a divorced wife up real quick when she was talking of Georgie and cocaine. She alleged threats on her life. Hmmmmm.
I don’t know why Chimpy never cared to have talks with Fidel Castro, sounds like they got a lot in common.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:40 pmninique – that’s Ralph’s assertion, that Scotty actually had a conscience that made him uncomfortable telling all the lies.
David Corn, though, is looking for an apology!
‘Apparently McClellan has seen the light. Well, where’s his plea for forgiveness? If he were truly contrite about his involvement in a deceptive, propaganda-wielding administration, McClellan could demonstrate his sincerity by pledging that all profits from his belated truth-telling will go to charities supporting the families of American soldiers killed or injured in Iraq.’
May 28th, 2008 at 2:41 pmThe truth hurts, and hurts more if you’re a right wing nut !!
May 28th, 2008 at 2:44 pmhow interesting that now and not before when we could have used it then, now is when he sees the light. After, hmmm, how many Iraqi men, women, children, and soldiers have died by now?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:44 pmbesides, now is when the book would probably be more juicy to read, eh?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:45 pmand ohhh, you’d think he dare not talk about sincerity, eh?
May 28th, 2008 at 2:46 pmDon’t think Scotty has developed a conscience probably looking for political favor from the next party in power. I mean what is the next career move from being bush’s mouthpiece. Ooops forgot look how Tony Snow landed, he will fit right in with FOX’s group, Tony with his comment about the fallen soldiers, “its only a number.”
May 28th, 2008 at 2:47 pmI think you are right, texaslady. He’s probably looking for an ally now as we write.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:49 pmYou have to laugh over Gregory’s comment that bush was disappointed and saddened, I would love to have been a fly on the wall when bush heard about this. With his temper his aides were afraid to confront him about Katrina so imagine a personal slam. Wow !
May 28th, 2008 at 2:51 pmDisgruntled equals damn truth teller.
Disgruntled is always the term they use when they have no defense.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:51 pmSo man falls into temptation and man is forgiven because man publicly admits his folly. And yet, the war machine keeps rollin’ on and on. It has not been made to stop and no book or charity can undo what has been done and now everyone’s eye is caught on Iran.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:52 pmSounds like a disgruntled employee to me. It’s normal for people to backlash against your former employers, especially if it means a lot of gullible Marxists will buy the book and you end up making millions. Lefties are too easy.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:54 pmMaybe if Team Bush had not stolen 2 elections, started 2 illegal pre-emptive wars, 1 false-flag attack (9/11), virtually destroyed the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, destroyed our moral standing in the world (see: secret prisons and torture), and destroyed our econommy ETC–
just maybe — there wouldn’t be so many ex-aides coming out of the woodwork to set the record straight.
Too late, Scott etc.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:56 pmThe damage has been done and it’s going to take a generation to UNDO the damage these Criminals have caused.
gitrdone- you must be one of those spoon-fed, inbred sheep that i’ve heard so much about, unwilling and unable to think for yourself.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:58 pmDid I hear a, “Baaaaaaahhhh”?
May 28th, 2008 at 3:01 pmno Kay, nothing can UNDO the damage done, but perhaps we can salvage the country’s dignity and the dignity of the world by doing the right thing for once.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:01 pmTell us, o cable guy, what would have disgruntled Scotty so? He wasn’t fired, he wasn’t treated badly, he wasn’t thrown under any bus that we know of.
What would be the source of his disgruntlement?
Thanks for helping out us poor, simple Libs with your wisdom.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:01 pmI wouldn’t insult a sheep like that, they’re too cute. roaches, on the other hand…
May 28th, 2008 at 3:04 pmTell us, o cable guy, what would have disgruntled Scotty so? He wasn’t fired, he wasn’t treated badly, he wasn’t thrown under any bus that we know of.
How do we know Scott was not fired? Sounds fishy to me. Just like Powell, Fallon etc,
Once someone on Team Bush sniffs out the least bit of difference of opinion.
You’re gone.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:04 pmand no worries, I didn’t like that job anyway, I was actually moving on, yey!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:06 pmDo you really think for one second anyone on Team Bush can disagree with the “magician who left no fingerprints” –Darth Cheney.
absolutely not.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:06 pmwow, is that what they called him?
May 28th, 2008 at 3:08 pmBushco is always throwing someone under the bus.
“How does it feel, to treat me like you do. So tell me now how does it feel?” New Order.
Now that they have been thrown under the bus, what do they do in return? Yeah, I hear a might fine whine. And still, they lie. It’s the only thing they know.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:09 pmBeam me up scotty !!!!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:09 pmA 27% approval rating is going to be the high point for W with gas going through the roof while the oil copanies post record profits, the dollar falling like a stone , the economy in tatters as a result of the sub prime mortgage crisis ,the war and now scotty “I didn’t know” mcclellan’s attempt at distancing himself from the least popular administration in American history !
He sounds like a left wing blogger ? Maybe Scott is living proof that even a traitor can grow a conscience ….NOT !
yeah, even Judas had a conscience and we all know what he did with it!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:11 pmPresident Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book because it had so many big words and no pictures to color in.
Bush belongs in prison.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:14 pmWas she spitting mad when she said this or was she stammering and stuttering like she always does when she’s caught in a lie?
May 28th, 2008 at 3:15 pmThe response from the Bush administration and its amen corner to the blistering charges in former press secretary Scott McClellan’s new book has been quick, brutal and predictable. Of course, it wasn’t always this way. Once upon time, Scott McClellan was the perfect mouthpiece for the Bush administration and its right-wing allies.
Here, then is:
May 28th, 2008 at 3:16 pm“A Look Back at Scott McClellan’s Greatest Hits.”
guilty conscience or unconscious, wrong is wrong and if you abet a criminal who are you? I mean really, If I try and help an illegal immigrant I’m aiding and abetting right? I mean that’s how Bushco sees it, eh? so how in the hell can someone who sees the outright rape of the US Constitution and does nothing about it be seen any better?
May 28th, 2008 at 3:16 pmgitrdone – better to be a gullible Markist than a bush follower anyday. We know what your party stands for and the stench is overpowering.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:18 pmWe have dirt poor illegals thrown in Chrome Avenue Detention
May 28th, 2008 at 3:20 pmCenter, many of whom are actually seeking political asylum and yet we have these idiots with their cushy jobs who don’t complain cause it wouldn’t be comfy and then when the world wants to round up the screwballs they yell, “wolf.”
IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:
Today, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino slammed McClellan today as a “disgruntled” employee
Was she spitting mad when she said this or was she stammering and stuttering like she always does when she’s caught in a lie?
o-m-g! you’re right! she studders like a two year old in the cookie jar with a mouth full of cookies.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:24 pmGo figure. Who would have thought the truth would leave Bush with feelings of disappointment and sadness?
May 28th, 2008 at 3:24 pmEven though its nothing really new, but looks like it hit a nerve.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:24 pmBuckie Boy Says:
President Bush is “disappointed” and “saddened” by the book because it had so many big words and no pictures to color in.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:26 pmLOL
omg, I love it!
Hey, where’d cable guy go? He drops in, rips a fart, and then splits, leaving us to deal with the smell?
What a d!ck.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:30 pmMaybe Scotty’s book will rekindle some interest from the cowards in Congress towards investigating how Bush lied to us to start his War? Impeach my ass, that puke needs to be put on trial for treason.
Bush’s War, and the rest of their crimes are the result of the Nixon pardon. These scum know that there will be no consequences for their deceit and treason, we will, “Heal and move on”.
I am telling you, you would only have to put one of the bastards in front of a firing squad for treason and the rest would honor the country and the Constitution.
May 28th, 2008 at 3:37 pmI sure hope this turns out to be one of many, in a long list of “Books of the Week” flooding of the market by ex-Bushies trying to cleanse their souls of all the sinning they participated in since Lil W ambled into the White House!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:43 pmNever mind getrdone, he’s just a lonely ant at our picnic…..LOL..Blessings
May 28th, 2008 at 3:45 pmralph the wonder llama Says:
Hey, where’d cable guy go? He drops in, rips a fart, and then splits, leaving us to deal with the smell?
What a d!ck.
I can’t take it! you guys kill me each and every time! Love it!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:48 pmhey, man, I’m not sure Bares and Noble could handle a confession flood!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:50 pmI meant Barnes but my fingers got fat!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:51 pmAccording to the Politico, a “former colleague” said of McClellan: “It looks like a fairly pathetic attempt to restore his reputation by junking the only positive attribute people saw in him — loyalty.”
There you have it! What he means by this is that loyalty to Bush comes before everything – constitution, truth, facts – everything!
May 28th, 2008 at 3:56 pmWell, another day, another 50 cents in today’s episode of “The Sin and Sinful.” I’m all broken up in tears for Scotty McFelon. His buddies turned on the little buckeroo Scotty.
Nice try Scotty trying to throw Bush under the bus with your new book. It doesn’t wipe off the fact of your indirect involvement in the CIA Leak case when you lied and covered the asses of Scooter Libby and Karl Rove in your infamous press conference when you said that Rove and Scooter had no involvement in the leak case. Have you forgotten that part of the story, Scotty? I haven’t.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:05 pm1) gitrdone is so bitter because he can’t. That’s why he’s a bootlicking neoturd.
2) Lay down with dogs and you get up with fleas. Sorry Scotty but nobody around here cares if your motivation was a guilty conscience. Most of us won’t pay money for your book.
3) McCain and Clinton, two people who continually praise themselves for their foreign policy experience fell for all the propaganda. And neither one of them has shown a moment’s remorse either.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:16 pmPerhaps McClellan would like to gather all the info he has that supports his claims and give it to someone in Congress that could act upon it or perhaps testify as such. This would show everyone that his LOYALTY is to the good of the country.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:24 pmyou’d think a man who grew a conscience over night would do that. but no, he ain’t gonna go to congress with what he knows. It’s more rendy to write a pathetic woe-is-me book. Maybe he can end up talking about it on Jon Stuart and all will be forgiven right? Wrong.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:30 pmThe only thing he’ll have is his money ninique. The Bushies won’t forgive him and neither will we.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:37 pmSure livelongandprosper, he could gather up the info and give it to congress. Then Congress could send out a strongly worded letter. Then about two months later they could get around to a subpoena which Bushco will ignore citing executive privilege. Godfreakin’blessdumberica.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:40 pmWexler calls on Scottie to testify under oath.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:44 pmmention all the names you want. we love to uncover the real truth!
May 28th, 2008 at 4:45 pmGo ahead John Kerry. What’s stopping you?
May 28th, 2008 at 4:48 pmYou’re so predictable JK, you got nothing so you go Off Topic with your “Clinton did it too.” crap.
May 28th, 2008 at 4:51 pmIgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:
Wexler calls on Scottie to testify under oath.
omg, that’s awesome. I hope Marjorie Cohn is on that Judiciary committee. She’s bad ass!
May 28th, 2008 at 4:51 pmyeah John Kerry, we’re waiting…..(snore)
May 28th, 2008 at 4:53 pmI find it hard to believe that Troll John Kerry teased us with a “Clinton Did It Too™” but then he failed to follow through.
It’s so unlike Troll John Kerry to fail to make a point, isn’t it?
May 28th, 2008 at 4:58 pmIs it just me, or does it seem like that RNC bridge loan that funded the brief flood of Troll Dept. operatives a couple weeks ago must have run out ? They’re back to the skeleton crew of trolls, and not even the good ones.
May 28th, 2008 at 5:05 pmDoes anybody else get the feeling that the trolls have lost their conviction and are just phoning it in these days?
May 28th, 2008 at 5:07 pmralph, I guess that nickel a post isn’t enough to drum up enthusiasm for the losing team. With gas at $4 a gallon they can’t afford to drive that check to the bank.
May 28th, 2008 at 5:08 pmAlso notice that the trolls will give numerous reasons WHY McClellan is saying all of these things – and pointing out that others have done this in the past – but none of them are addressing anything that McClellan has said. Forget attacking the messenger, what about the message?
May 28th, 2008 at 5:11 pmCall me paranoid, but I see this McClellan tell all book , as the opening gambit in McCain’s new election strategy.
I think Sen. McCain must now realize the effect President Bush is having on his chances for victory in November. Like in the old Vampire movies, the only thing that will protect Sen. McCain from the ravages of Bush’s record is DAYLIGHT.
This will be hard for him to pull off, especially since his 2008 voting record in the Senate matched Bush’s agenda 100%.
If McCain can distance himself from Bush…in Bush’s handling of Hurricane Katrina , for example…. he can reassert his “Maverick Credentials”. Throw in some criticism of Bush’s “doctored” pre-war intelligence….an you could make the case that McCain’s presidency will be CHANGE from the current , wrong track fiasco.
May 28th, 2008 at 5:18 pmObama, however, could poke holes in this makeover all day long, if he gets listened to by the press and the voters.
Did anyone else see Gretchen (i think, the one who had never heard the word know ‘vitriolic’ ) on Fox and Friends having her once a year eureka moment, and blurt out a question asking, (and I am paraphrasing here) “why can’t the administration make its employees sign non-disclosure contracts like celebrities make their assistants do so they can’t write a tell all book.”
I guess a secret government sounds like a pretty good idea to her.
Then after some more thinking (and I use that word lightly), she said, “oh well, I guess that would go against the first amendment”.
Really Gretchen? … Really? … You think having a secret government might work out for us? Really. I’ll let you think about maybe some other reason why that might not work out, but don’t hurt yourself.
May 28th, 2008 at 6:42 pmI’m betting Gretchen will be signing a different tune when she’s talking about the Obama Administration.
May 28th, 2008 at 7:56 pmof course, they did roughly the same thing to David Kuo as well and David Iglesias as well, and to some extent to John DiIulio.
May 28th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
