Rove: Bush told Bachmann to ‘take off those stupid pink gloves.’

Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R-MN) affections for President Bush are infamous. At the 2007 State of the Union address, she gripped onto Bush’s shoulder until he gave her “a kiss and an embrace.” In September 2007, she also claimed that the President tried to “embrace” her at the scene of Minnesota’s 35W bridge collapse. But in a speech to Republicans in Rochester, MN, yesterday, Rove told of one incident where Bush insulted Bachmann:

The Texan delivered a few Minnesota comments, like…the time when he was with Bush and U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. The president told her to “take off those stupid pink gloves.”

Watch a portion of Rove’s speech here.

What he actually said, was “Take off those stupid pink gloves and give them to Jeff Gannon”. On him they really make me hot! On you, not so much.

  2. Freedom Rebel says:

I’m sorry but I really can’t watch Rove speak, unless of course he would be behind bars. That I would pay for.

    Quote of the Day:

Conservative: a statesman who is enamoured of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others. Ambrose Bierce

Are you sure, Mr. President? It just doesn’t taste like chicken salad…

  4. leftcoast says:

Rove said Obama’s already-announced plans would result in the largest increase in government ever.
You mean he’s going to top an increase of 45% in federal spending set by Bush in his first five years?

  5. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

But don’t the pink gloves go well with the rose-colored glasses?

  6. leftcoast says:

At that same two day republican convention Gov. Tim Pawlenty said Republicans must convince voters that they care about the working person.
At that moment Rove fell out of his chair in a violent convulsion.

  7. upside99 says:

The good sheeple of Minnesota must be proud! The pink gloves are her only significant contribution to her time in office.

  8. buzzbomb says:

Our state embarassment. She in no way represents more than a few chuckle heads here in Minnesota

  9. belac says:

As Ferris Bueller said, “You can’t respect someone who kisses your a$$, it just doesn’t work.”

  10. APEC not OPEC says:

OT. Obama just resigned from his church. CNN now

We here in Colorado also have our crosses to bear, such as Tancredo, Lamborn and Allard. SO we share your pain.

  12. ucsbclassics53 says:

Obama shouldn’t have resigned from the church. THERE is such a double standard when it comes to religion, morality, and character with respect to Republicans and DEMOCRATS. Bill Clinton’s infidelity was fair game for the GOP but McCain’s isn’t? McCain doesn’t have to say much about his pastor problem, but come November, Reverend Wright will still be the talk and after the GOP tampers with this election, he’ll still be on the news and will be blamed for Obama’s “loss.”

  13. pete says:

Don’t blame the whole state, upside. She ran a very underhanded campaign against a very weak competitor. I think it’s safe to say that the good citizens of the 6th district know what they’ve got. I recently heard an interview with her three Dem contenders and they all gave the impression they don’t care who gets the nomination as long as they get rid of Crazy Shelly. Heck, I’m tempted to move a few miles up the road just so I can vote against her, LOL.

  14. GL2814 says:

Sure George, as long as you get rid of that stupid, fake ranch.

  15. stateofthedivision says:

Watch out, there’s been a marked increase of fluff posts on both conservative and liberal sites. That means the people’s attention must be diverted to stupid pink gloves, oversized Confederate flags, Barack’s church, and Scotty’s publisher.

“Pay no attention to the little men behind the curtain frantically pulling levers, otherwise known as the AIPAC annual meeting.” I think it’s 3:00 am and the red phone could soon ring.

  16. stewarjt says:

Pardon me, but what does this information have to do with anything? Why is it relevant?

  17. jfklimox63nov says:

Maybe, in lieu of his father’s dark affiliations with CIA, maybe for a moment “those stupid pink gloves” took the jovial, a most sardonic, George W. Bush back to Dallas 1963.

Again, we are reminded here it is of no consequential secret to what extent the Bushes always hated the Kennedys.

So she had better… “take off those stupid pink gloves.”

    Wow.

Sur , Mr Pretzeldent ; just as soon as you take off to Paraguay to escape being indicted for war crimes……..

  20. Uosdwis says:

Don’t forget Marilyn Musgrave and Douglas Bruce, upside99.

  21. Nevar says:

    Bush:
“Take off those stupid pink gloves! You know I only like the blue ones!”
“Let me know when you want me to, well, you know… just don’t tell Laura, OK?”

  22. ForTruth says:

I can’t decide if I like her with short hair, or long. Doesn’t matter.

  23. osage says:

Now, this is the kind of reporting that Karl Rove is made for. He should be writing a woman’s gossip/fashion column for Bush Republican divas and limit sharing his twisted political values to his “chats” with John McCain.

  24. Minnesota Raindog says:

Embarrass Minnesota–more than just a town up north.

  25. lloydletta says:

Michele Bachmann on the radio wearing what is described as a “skimpy outfit”….

She says: “It’s pink and it does what it’s supposed to do.”

  27. Cal Malenky says:

If only she had succeeded in giving him a BJ. Then we could have had him impeached.

  28. DallasNE says:

    Where is the story?

It is certainly no story to learn that Bush has insulted somebody. It would be more of a story to learn that Bush hadn’t insulted somebody.

  29. clarkorwell says:

I’m moving back to Minnesota in August and having lived there and voted against Bachmann in ‘06, I will be doing the same in ‘08. Being the right wing nut she is, her days are numbered in office. The East Metro has to have more intelligence than to elect her again.
