Bush responded to 2004 contractor deaths: ‘Kick ass! Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them!’

The Washington Post today notes an excerpt from the autobiography of retired Lt. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez, which gives an “arresting portrait of Bush after four contractors were killed in Fallujah in 2004.” In response, President Bush held a videoconference with his national security team and generals, and launched into a “confused” pep talk:

“Kick ass!” he quotes the president as saying. “If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can’t send that message. It’s an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal.”

“There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way. Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them! Be confident! Prevail! We are going to wipe them out! We are not blinking!

The Post reports that a “White House spokesman had no comment.” Tom Engelhardt has more.

What do you expect from President Shit-For-Brains?

  2. Freakaloin says:

lol bush thinks the world is a 1950’s western movie…what a moron.

  3. spearNmagicHelmet says:

contractor is one word for them. another would be mercenary.
get three together and you got yourself a death squad.

and i don’t think it’s a secret anymore that bush is a moron. it was never much of a secret anyway.

  4. impeachcheneythenbush says:

You can almost picture Bush salivating as he says these words. What a blood-thirsty, delusional maniac. No surprise a White House spokesman “had no comment.” WHAT kind of a response can they make to this image of a madman?

  5. Cappy says:

What don’t these supposed Xtians get about “He who lives by the sword shall die by the sword”?

  6. Fan of Man says:

that is mighty redneck of him.

  7. tom says:

I for one am not surprised at this quote from the little tin cowboy. It hearkens back to his cheerleader days . . . or, perhaps, his own military experience doing flyovers with the TANG protecting Texas golf courses from incursions by the Viet Cong (that is, before he deserted so he wouldn’t fail a drug test).

I sure hope they engrave this quotation in stone and place it above the entrance to GDumbya’s presi-dunce-tial library.

  8. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    We are not blinking!”

Actually, Bush blinks a lot when he’s lying. Is he trying to say “We’re not lying”?

  9. tom says:

lol bush thinks the world is a 1950’s western movie…what a moron.

What the heck. It worked for Ronnie RayGun, didn’t it?

  10. Mugsy says:

Once again, this Presidents’ glee over death & killing, expressed through comments we more expect to hear coming from a teenager than a 60+ year old politician, come bubbling to the surface.

  11. unbelievable says:

Heir Bush acts like he’s playing a video game with computer generated people and weapons.

Harvard and Yale really should revoke his degrees…

  12. raynman says:

We are merely tokens in a game that the current regime is playing for world control.

  13. Keith H. says:

Taks this and mix in a little of the ‘God talks to me’ along with ‘God told me to’ and you have someone who is
    Crazy . . as . . hell.

    Mugsy Says:

You could also say babbling! What a clueless buffoon he is.

  15. galmud says:

Well you sure “wiped them out” in Falluja. Like you “wiped them out” in Sadr city. Them being innocent Iraqis

  17. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Are we talking about four mercenary contractors who were killed? If that is what they were, then I feel TP should identify them as such. I believe it’s important to point out that these were mercenaries (if they were) because Bush’s hiring of them to do the work that traditionally has been done by our military forces (especially the Marines) may violate the Constitution. Only the Congress may raise and support armies. By hiring all these mercenary contractors and removing them from US juridiction, he has, effectively, raised his own extra-constitutional army. Why has this not been pursued?

  19. Tawdry says:

More and more oozes out about this president’s behavior, but it’s far too late now. There should be nation wide parties planned on the day he leaves office with everyone popping the champagne cork at the same moment. The shot heard ’round the world! Hallelujah!

  20. CitiDC says:

    USA! USA! USA! USA!

  21. pbg says:

It shows what he believes: Vietnam was lost because the troops were defeatist! They blinked! They didn’t stay the course! THey should have kicked ass more!

Well, for Georgie’s information, the USA kicked an appalling amount of ass in Vietnam. They killed huge numbers of people. They dropped napalm all over the place. General William Westmoreland was a fierce, fierce warrior.

But, you see, none of that did any good. You want to know why we lost in Vietnam, Grorgie? It’s because the people in charge were blind and we never should have gone in in the first place.

Now, Georgie. Look at Iraq. What do you see?

  22. Wayne A. Schneider says:

This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can’t send that message. It’s an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal.

Because, as you know, Bush never had any intention of ever withdrawing our troops from Iraq. He is even trying to fix things so that no future president can ever withdraw troops from Iraq.

  23. McWars says:

History will prove Bush to be right about his intent to wipe every brown person off the face of the earth.

  24. Exit Stage Left says:

    – - They’d probably use something a bit more eloquent, like, “Kicketh posterior anatomy.” And the veins in their neck and forehead probably wouldn’t be bulging and spittle wouldn’t be flying from their mouth.

  27. WaltB says:

There are many, many stories that will come out that will show what a bald-faced lie Bush’s “support the troops” line was, and still is. Gen. Sanchez’s won’t be the last. What’s really disgusting is Bush’s attempts to act like a movie action hero and ending up looking like a 12 year old spoiled brat instead. The nick-name “Junior” is more than applicable.

  29. DRxJ says:

Wow. Pretty tough words for a man who opted out of serving in combat!
But, what do you expect from a leader who “dresses up” like a war pilot, lands on an aircraft carrier discreetly out of view from San Diego, and proclaims “Mission Accomplished!”

Of course, he would have no clue regarding “that Vietnam mindset”, unless he was talking about “not showing up”.

  30. MCMetal says:

“There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute.”

How many other people were in the room at this time , because it sure as shit better not have been Pretzeldent Clueless Wonder by himself ; what is this “we” , shit ?

Like how “resolute” you were about NOT going to Vietnam , you big-talking chickenshit coward ?

  31. Bob says:

Would he feel the same way if he actually served in Vietnam?

His ‘mind-set’ doesn’t seem very Christian.

  32. Little Freep Goofballs says:

“Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way.”

And herein lies the problem with every sanctimonious, “Manifest-Destiny”-spouting self-appointed tin god. Religious imperialism, democratic imperialism, compassionate imperialism all boils down to, “I know better than you how to run your life, and I will deny you life unless you acquiesce..for your own good.”

Right out of the film, “At Play in the Fields of the Lord.”

God protect us from your followers…

I’m sure there are millions upon millions of people who would rather see a portrait of Chimpy being arrested………..

  38. McWars says:

I would like to see Georgie issued his draft notice and watch him squirm behind “Executive privilege.”

I’d love to see his chickenhawk colors come alive. It would be the highlight of his presidency.

Trolls accuse us of ‘Bush Derangement Syndrome’.

This must be ‘Deranged Bush Syndrome’.

  41. Marie says:

I guess his lame-assed and tardy apology for the “dead or alive” comment was just more bushit.

  42. Marie says:

Wait, he didn’t apologize, he simply said he took some heat for that phrase over the years.

    RUC, Little Freep Goofballs,
That was Slim Whitman’s voice making the Martians’ heads explode.

Do you suppose John Ashcroft’s version of ‘When Eagles Soar’ would do the same to Bush?

    it’s worth a try.

  46. Bluestocking says:

This is the same arsehole that claims war is “romantic”. What a fing dolt. — Dr. Hussein Matt

    **********************************************************

You left out the fact that this is the same man who not only never fought in combat himself, but — according to his former economics professor at Harvard Business School, Dr. Yoshi Tsurumi — has reportedly acknowledged at least once that he used his father’s contacts in order to get into the Texas National Guard even though he himself was in favor of the war. To the best of my knowledge, Bush supporters have not been able to successfully discredit Dr. Tsurumi (or else they simply haven’t bothered and merely lump him in with all the other so-called “leftist academics”).

  47. hussein toasterhead says:

Sometimes I think perhaps it would have been better if the President hadn’t given up golf, and had instead left the whole “running of the war” thing to the adults on the NSC and Joint Chiefs while he went outside to play.

  49. sgs23 says:

A “White House spokesman had no comment”! What can you say? The guy is obviously a funking lunatic.

  50. hellinabucket says:

“And the train kept a rolling all night long”. If this keeps up, Bush will be the most documented liar in the white house. Well done General.

  51. drago says:

The only things dumber than Bush are the people who voted for him — twice.

  54. pete says:

See what happens when the “leader of the free world” inhabits his own personal “reality”?

  55. Marie says:

Our cheerleading preznit has never left the football field in his mind. He is certainly a non-introspective person, a person who never gives a whit about someone other than himself, who conducts himself like the spoiled rich kid even as he enters old age, who is the most unqualified, ignorant, bellicose and belligerent person who has ever held the White House.
Anyone who voted for this moron should be feeling enormous remorse.

  56. Moderation says:

As the evidence mounts…not that it wasn’t quite considerable to begin with…that Bush is a full-blown sociopath with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

The only time his expressions are genuine are when he smirks, and when he looks angry. Most every other time, his eyes are shifty, and he has ticks that any poker player would exploit in a heartbeat. His grin and trademark smirk appear most often when he is discussing the death penalty, troops and contractors dying, tragedies, speaking about the wealthy favorably, or speaking about the poor with disdain. Classic sociopathic behavior.

He surrounds himself with “yes men”. He fires everyone who disagrees with his preconceived notions. He sends his attack dogs full-bore against anyone who publicly points out mistakes, or who has left his administration and reports the malfeasance going on therein. He never admits when he is wrong, never backs down, never apologizes, and never compromises in any way. He is a classic example of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

He is mentally unfit for office, in the extreme. Men and women like him unfortunately strive for power. The Stalins, the Hitlers, the Mussolinis. All of them share these common traits of a lack of empathy for the plights of their fellow man, and surrounding themselves with only those who would nod and parrot said leader’s own feelings, no matter how wrong they may be.

  57. Bozo The Neoclown says:

For some odd reason, I don’t even question that’s an exact quote from the nitwit currently residing in The White House. Primarily, since polysyllabic words are not part of his vocabulary owning to his inability to pronounce them.

It should be interesting to see the neoclowns frothing at the mouth trying to protect their tin idol while slandering a general, while simultaneously shreiking how they “support the troops”.

    Spin, ballerina, spin.

  58. republicanSScareme says:

As if we didn’t already know, but this revelation really shows what an utterly incompetent leader we have. Although surrounded by extremely dubious people, the President himself seems to be the worst of the bunch (without Bush, Cheney would have no power).

Apparently, the only position the President has ever successfully fulfilled is being a prep school cheerleader and party animal. “Clown” is another word to describe the job.

So, the man has been doing what he does best. He is so stupid that he cannot distinguish between intelligent problem solving and cheerleading. Although there’s a clear and obvious distinction, the man’s buffoonish arrogance is so overwhelming that he does whatever he feels like. Pretty much what his parents have let him do his whole life. It must be difficult to serve this man and be an honorable general. Guys like Sanchez should be head of the Joint Chiefs, not guys who left in disgust and now have to cry out from the wilderness.
