And I disagree with your assessment of Achies grasp on our politics. He gets a headline, he spouts it out…it actually reminded me a lot of the Al Qaeda tape where they referenced the housing market. Just rings hollow.

I never said the man was stupid, but trying to insert himself in our politics in anyway certainly is. He wants Obama to win, to the extent he makes that known he hurts Obama. I am sure O would want him to shush.

Hersh did not want to go there, siting professional obligations regarding upcoming work, but he was pushed by the audience. He spoke of the present Israeli administration and the talks with Syria (moderated by Turkey?). Essentially, he said that by separating “Syria from the herd”, this would create a Sunni v Shia dynamic that would set up the scenario for the attack. He was reticent about scooping himself but his profound body language spoke volumes to those of us who have observed him even casually over the years. What he did say was:

“No Four Star General can stop Cheney”

The attack may come at a time when it is most useful to boost McCain’s faltering candidacy.

“This administration will be lethal until 11:59 (am) on January 20th”

And with his head in his hand, he said (paraphrase), “Never in the history of our country have we faced anything like this. Never.”

I can tell you there was a series of “holy shit” moments for the several hundred people in the audience. It felt like a bullet we thought we’d dodged did a u-turn in mid-air and is now headed back at us.

Just because he’s a hardline Islamist doesn’t mean he’s stupid. He isn’t.

He’s walking a very delicate line between the rabid mullahs, the secular Iranians, the new Iraq, and the warmongering eejit at the helm of America who keeps threatening to wipe IRAN off the map.

Doing it pretty well, too, from what I can tell.

Simplistic black-and-white crap is for Republicans.

Oh, it doesn’t, particularly, I am not trying to be especially Trollish, there was just a fairly long talk on a thread yesterday about who Al-Maliki would prefer as the next President and we were talking about how hard it was to see through to the truth of their politics. Comments like Achmadidnjad’s just reveal they don’t understand us very well, either.

Well, the other good sign in this is I really doubt Caroline is going to recommend a reptile like Hillary for VP. All the things that moved her to endorse Obama would block her from recommending Hillary for the ticket, I would think. She is a true idealist, the antithesis of the Clintons.
