In a CBS News poll released last night, President Bush’s approval rating dropped to just 25 percent, “an all-time low for him and among the lowest approval ratings ever recorded for a President.” At the same time, 67 percent said they disapprove of the job Bush is doing, “the highest such figure in CBS News polls since he assumed office.” Only Presidents Richard Nixon and Harry Truman have had lower approval ratings than Bush with 24 percent and 22 percent, respectively. It’s like watching the stock market with this guy. Only I hope that it dips even lower.
Sell! Sell!
June 5th, 2008 at 9:52 amSo can we call them “twenty-FIVE percenters” now? It must be getting expensive for them to keep changing their stationery.
Cue troll whining about “democrat congress” in 3, 2, 1…
June 5th, 2008 at 9:54 amIf he just keeps his mouth shut and doesn’t say anything for the next seven months, he might be able to get it back up into the 30% range by the end of his term as President.
June 5th, 2008 at 9:54 amNah. Every time he shows his face, it goes lower. I think they need to put him into hiding.
June 5th, 2008 at 9:56 amSo his supporters aren’t even half-wits anymore??
Can we call them quarter-wits?
June 5th, 2008 at 9:57 amThose 25% are painting themselves into a corner, because a day will come when even they, except for the truly mentally ill among them, can no longer defend the nightmare that has been the Bush presidency.
June 5th, 2008 at 9:59 amBut Verbal, I thought “the truly mentally ill” had become Bush’s “base”? Well, along with the “have-mores”, that is.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:01 amWe are getting down to the bitterest of bitter ender Bush cultists.

June 5th, 2008 at 10:02 amlast throes. if theres any justice in the world this will be down to single digits by the time hes out of office
June 5th, 2008 at 10:03 amHow can Barney and Laura equal 25 percent ?
June 5th, 2008 at 10:04 amMust be using t-blossom’s math again.
>These occasional dips are simply polling variables
keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. the only thing that makes keep this guy out of a nosedive is because occasionally enough other stuff happens in the media to make many people forget he’s still president.. just about everytime he makes any major public statements his appoval dips..
June 5th, 2008 at 10:06 amI voted for Gore and I would just like to say….
June 5th, 2008 at 10:07 amI told you so!
If Las Vegas had odds on this I’d put as much down as I could. GWB lives in his own fantasy world in which he is smarter, more handsome and stronger than anyone else on Earth. He’s in love with himself and simply can’t contain his “better than everyone else” view of the world. He will continue to threaten and “warn” the world and Dem’s to do his will or else.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:09 amLOL, I for one cannot wait until Dictator Bush is de-throned in November. I don’t think his “mini-me” McBush stands a chance so I guess we’ll see what change Obama brings. I just hope he lasts more than a week! LOL

We can thank these dimwit 25 percenters for throwing this country into reverse while much of the world moved forward into the 21st century.
Of course they got a lot of help from a spineless Congress, the corporate media and corrupted judicial and electoral systems.
I wonder if they are proud of that accomplishment or are incapable of acknowledging it because it doesn’t fit into a 20 second sound bite.
I guess that makes me an elitist because I believe in competence, honesty, fiscal responsibility, rational thought, progress and solving problems using facts and science.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:12 amI for one can’t wait for LumpyDunky to take his ISP spam posts and stick them in a place where the sun don’t shine.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:16 amIt has been said that insanity is expecting a different result from identical actions. So long as the fools keep polling the same four people they will always get the same 25% in favor. Has anybody out there EVER been asked to join a poll? Not I!
June 5th, 2008 at 10:16 amGWB lives in his own fantasy world in which he is smarter, more handsome and stronger
A textbook sociopath.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:17 amThe unique thing about him is he has had the privilege of being able to escape suffering any consequences for his actions during his life because of who his Daddy was.
leave it to rogers to jump in to defend the failure of Bush
June 5th, 2008 at 10:18 amrogers Says:
These occasional dips
While I admire your attempt at admission, I nonetheless must remind you that the Bush people have been dips more than occasionally.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:23 amI was in Munich for Oktobefest in 1974 and after the hall was sufficiently shitfaced, a group of older men in the back were raising their mugs and shouting Sieg Heil. The 25%ers are not an aberration, all societies, no matter how bad have their pitiful and bitter 25%ers.
And to cut rogers off at the knees, I am not comparing Hitler to Bush, just supporters to supporters.
Hitler was more evil, but smarter and a better leader than Boy George.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:24 amBush is doing ‘The Limbo’ to see ‘how low can you go’?
Overrated, underachieving, stubborn, elitist, pouty, vengeful, and of below average intelligence, this little shit had done more harm in his tenure than anyone could have imagined in ‘00.
It’s time to call a spade a spade. Bush has been our worst President, he’s appointed the sleaziest & biggest liars in US Cabinet history and he and all the others must pay a severe price for pissing on our freedoms and mutilating our Constitution.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:24 amSo now there are about 5% more people in this country that believe in ufos than feel Chimpy is doing a good job. That sounds about right.
Don’t forget trolls, Herr Bush has been below 28% longer than any other President. It’s not just how many Americans think he sucks it’s also how long they have felt this way that is truly telling.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:26 amRoger appears to prove my Kool-Aid 25% bitter ender theory.
No logic need apply.

June 5th, 2008 at 10:37 amAnd why was Truman’s so low? Because Nixon and others in the media and politics smeared him as a loser to the communists.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:37 amYes, Nixon had a hand in Turman’s defeat at the polls. So Truman’s poll numbers don’t count, not morally anyway. So that leaves us with Nixon and Bush…hmmmmm
nanlichi said : Hitler was more evil, but smarter and a better leader than Boy George.
Tell that to the million or so Iraqis he’s murdered. And the 50 thousand or so dead and maimed American soldiers.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:40 amrogers Says:
It will take more than one poll to confirm a low, but all other recents still say atleast 28.
if you don’t care enough to check your own spelling then why even bother?
June 5th, 2008 at 10:42 amkassandrasduplex,
What Bush has done is evil and is a sociopath, no doubt. I just think he never matured past the frog smashing phase. He is a weak and insecure buly who has always been sheltered by his mistakes so he never learned from them. Never admits a mistake, and FSM knows he has made more than anyone in recent history.
I would like to see a poll of Bush’s popularity that extended the choices. Instead of like/dislike/really dislike… I would to see hate/despise/loath…. as choices.
If I could write my own in, it would be on the order of wishing a dull and rusty broadhead through the guts, with peritonitis and a colostomy bag to drag around prison for a loooooong life.
Sorry if I left the impression that I was in ANY way supporting the Chimperor.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:50 amrogers says:

OOOOH! Our bad! I guess it takes some serious meds to get excited that his average approval rating is all the way up at 28%!
Still, less than 3 out of 10 people “approve” of this dipsh*t, and that number has been consistently under 30% for months.
I feel sorry for the people of Paraguay… they get bush next, unless the Hague gets moving. After all, the people of Australia are working on charges of war crimes against Howard.
PEACE
June 5th, 2008 at 10:52 amI wonder if he’ll beat Nixon.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:00 amAnd, of course, no Republicriminal or troll will ever admit this latest “dip” has anything to do with Scotty’s book. I mean it’s just not possible that a portion of the 28%ers finally got the message that Bushco effs up everything they touch and breaks the law doing it. It’s inconceivable that these numbers can possibly reflect the fact that the bottom of the Bell curve is learning what the rest of the world already knew; Bush is THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!
June 5th, 2008 at 11:01 amWhy is it whenever I read a post by roger-roger or other troll defending Dubya, all I see is a (diminishing) number of lemmings moving towards a high cliff?
June 5th, 2008 at 11:03 amI like the cliff imagery, upside, but I think of them as being more like Wile E. Coyote. Lemmings, according to legend, get pushed off the cliff by the horde behind. Wile E., however, actually works and schemes to insure the fact that he is, indeed, going over that cliff no matter what it takes.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:15 amDoes anybody else find it amusing that the trolls are now reduced to claiming that Bush’s approval rating is actually 28% — like it’s a GOOD thing?
They just like to look at the glass as a quarter full, I guess.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:17 amWow. It took almost an hour and a half for the designated “So what congress is lower” troll to show up. Must have been extra donuts this morning.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:22 amSeig Hiel TheRight. Never give up.
Like the dutiful wife that defends her man against accusations that he is raping your 12 year old daughter, despite the screams at night and the bloody sheets. He wouldn’t do that he’s a good man. Sure he is, just ask him.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:26 amnanlichi, and don’t forget how good a provider he is.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:29 amTheRight Says:
In 2006 Nancy Pelosi promised that Democrates would lower gas prices. At the time she made the promise gas was around $2.30. Today it is $3.99. Good work Nancy!!!
Sure, nothing to due with the two oilmen in the White House who have been devaluing our dollar and creating chaos with two wars in the Middle East while saber rattling with Iran. (Oh, and don’t forget all the obstructionist R’s in Congress.)
June 5th, 2008 at 11:34 am25%??? Scary that there are that many people out there that are equally immoral, greedy and un-American as Bush/Cheney, or just too stupid to see what’s right in front of their faces.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:43 amHow would it look ralph, if she gave him up? All those people (75% or so) who have been saying all along that he is a POS would be right, and she can’t ever, ever, admit she made a bad decision.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:44 amWhat the Right and TheRight never seem to comprehend is that no one votes for “Congress” only their congressperson… and you can be damn sure that everyone in Congress is watching their own approval ratings at home very carefully.
Of course, the reason the right and TheRight won’t mention that is, whether they’re the President, running for President or just desperate to hang on to their seat in Congress, republicans are all dropping to historic lows… and anticipating big losses come November.
June 5th, 2008 at 11:51 am25% of America is sick in the head and need to have lobotomy’s.
June 5th, 2008 at 12:07 pmBeleaguered Bush apologists: “So what? Idi Amin Dada’s approval rate was even lower at the end of his term…”
June 5th, 2008 at 12:11 pmI never thought that it would ever get so bad that even Republicans aren’t voting for Republicans this year. W Bush is a cancer. May their NEVER be another President Bush.
June 5th, 2008 at 12:15 pmoops… that should be “there”* not their
June 5th, 2008 at 12:21 pm.
The “Worst EVER(!)” is allowed to remain…
I happen to think America deserves better.
.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:27 pm25% is being generous, even bush admitted his audiences had to be prompted to applaud. Pretty sick.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:37 pmBut as usual bush is planning another scare tactic, always worked before, just to help McCain. Seymour Hersch quoted as saying bush wants to invade Iran to help McCains campaign. So what if we lose more soldiers, they are only a number, say Tony Snow. 4090 and counting.. rogers when are you enlisting ?
But hey, one good thing bush has done, created a few new dirty words, bush, cheney, rice, republican.
June 5th, 2008 at 1:38 pmIt’s astounding that there are still 25% percent of people who accept this incompetent chimp. Can we infer that 25% of our population are missing a chromosome?
June 5th, 2008 at 2:14 pmapproval rating meet I.Q.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:22 pmThe only people that support Bush now are:
-the ultra rich
June 5th, 2008 at 2:24 pm-people that hate Muslims
-people conned into thinking there actually a “war on terror”
-Bible thumpers
-rednecks
-and people with heads up their ass
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:25 pmtake my neighbor.
He’s hates/distrusts black people. He’s now going to vote for McCain.
He was going to vote for Hillary.
how ignorant.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:27 pmBush is a 4 letter word.
June 5th, 2008 at 2:30 pmKay – hearing alot of ignorant, but educated people doing the same thing. How stupid can it get .
June 5th, 2008 at 3:42 pmOddly, I recall how Bush’s post 911 approval levels were at all-time highs (90%) , back before all the divisiveness and bitterness over the mishandling of Iraq. I don’t think we’ll ever see a 90% job approval for congress, but who knows. Maybe if they all quit.
June 5th, 2008 at 3:57 pmThanks, gunclinger, for highlighting the extent of the failure of the Bush administration. From a high-water mark of 91% approval in the immediate wake of a national trauma, to a current low of 25%, no president has fallen so far, and it’s likely none ever will.
Good point.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:26 pmDo you have a link to any news reports of this promise? I searched and the closest I could find to an actual promise to lower fuel prices in 2006 was a promise to implement a “commonsense plan” to lower prices. I guess you could hear that and assume it’s a promise to lower gas prices if you have a limited imagination and a partisan axe to grind, but that’s probably not you, right? You have a link to a report that quotes Nancy Pelosi saying “if elected, I will lower gas prices” or something to that effect.
I’m anxious to see it. Thanks.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pmBush beats Carter yet again. He must be proud.
June 5th, 2008 at 5:55 pmJune 5th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
In response to “the Right”-Do you really think that any of the “promises” made by an individual congressperson guaranteeing anything are more than wishful thinking? Thats not how our system of compromise works.Other than DENYING passage of legislation, through filibuster or mandatory readings of documents it’s all a pipedream. In Maine right now we have a hoard of candidates promising the moon (of course we all know what a powerhouse the Maine congressional delegation is)- that said, Pelooser’s an ass if for no other reason than taking impeachment off the table right from the gitgo.
June 6th, 2008 at 2:03 pmThe worst part is that Haliburton is probably getting Dummy W’s gold plated palace ready for him in Dubai right now. Shoot, throw in an extra billion for him for good measure for all he’s done.
