Tomorrow, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) will visit the Everglades to boost his environmental credentials. But as the Wonk Room explains, a year ago, McCain aligned himself with President Bush and opposed “spending $2 billion on restoring the national park.”

Just wait til McCain gets caught in the jaws of Barackodile Ochompa.
(Sorry, I did it on a bet.)

June 5th, 2008 at 3:56 pmThat’s not the kind of change we need…(Insert awkward, blinky, cheesy, strained grin)…

Heh Heh

June 5th, 2008 at 4:03 pmZoo,
Kinda like when a Repug Senatorial candidate (Bif Oil Bob Schafer) here in Colorado ran TV ads talking about his love for this state but his green screen background was of Mt. McKinley, in Alaska!
June 5th, 2008 at 4:06 pmMCLame’s got nothing….oh except he spent 5 years in a POW camp…..
June 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pmhey, it was a bad break, I feel sorry for the guy that he had to go through that, broken bones, knocked out teeth and the rest,
but how does that qualify him or count as training for being President?
McCain is just going the “green” route as much as he can, assuming that nobody will check his actual environmental record. He’s going to do one of two things:
1. Claim to have voted for a great deal of earth-friendly legislation that he actually voted against.
OR
2. Not make any claims at all — just let the props do his “talking” for him.
My bet is on the latter. I think even he’s smart enough to realize that while most people aren’t going to fact-check him, somebody will. This will deter him from telling bald-faced lies, but he’ll still mislead as much as he can get away with.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:08 pmMcIIIrd has no shame.

Ouch! What a dumbass. :D
Actually, I was referring to the green monster thing behind McCain during his speech on the night Barack Obama made history. ;)
June 5th, 2008 at 4:09 pmMcZombie has no “core values” - because he hasn’t got a core.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:13 pmHe was against the Everglades, until he was for it.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:24 pmMy God! All the Dems need to do is use video of McCain saying one thing to counter anything he ever says or do. That way Obama would never have to do a debate. Just have someone cue up McCain countering himself and let it roll.
Then Obama could go campaigning elsewhere, or even take his missus out on a date.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:25 pmEvery day must be opposite day in the world John McCain now inhabits. Perhaps the sky is green on that world but his voting record sure isn’t.
June 5th, 2008 at 4:28 pmAfter opposing Everglades funding, McCain uses park as a political prop.
Could have read: “After opposing Veteran funding, McCain uses troops as a political prop.”
PEACE
June 5th, 2008 at 4:55 pmHe did the same thing here in New Orleans. He voted twice against forming a congressional commission to investigate the failures of the levees and the failed response to Hurricane Katrina. (We call it the “8/29 commission” for the date Katrina hit.)
But when he was asked why he opposed the commission, he lied and said he always supported all investigation… yadda, yadda, yadda.
June 5th, 2008 at 5:20 pmGrampy McSame says - My friends back in the day we would be against stuff, then just to fool people we would be for it later, of course only if it was to our advantage to be for it before we were against it, now if you’re for something then you can also be against it for a while till you can be for it again, now I am for parks, that is today, because if you don’t like parks you don’t like picnics, and along time ago we all loved picnics, we would BBQ wooly mammoths and saber tooth tigers, I always had a hard time starting the tar pits on fire with my flint rocks, it would take forever, now a days you can just throw a one of the IUDs on there and boom, fire…I think I have lumpy gravy in my pants.
Grampy those are IEDs not IUDs, and yeah, I guess you are old enough to have BBQ’d a wooly mammoth.
June 5th, 2008 at 5:42 pmSenator McAncient is trying to serve up some 300-year old oatmeal. Even the Everglades gators will turn up their snouts to that…
June 5th, 2008 at 6:21 pmRemember the funny video of Bush down on the border, talking about the security system he was gonna build, and the figures in the background with their gallon jugs of water jumping over the fence?
McCain could be seen blabbing about how green he is with the drug runner’s boats crisscrossing the saw grass in the background.
June 5th, 2008 at 8:06 pmMcCain is toast. I can seem him getting 17% of the vote. Who wants a confused old man as president - no me and not you.
June 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pmAlmost as bizarre as using troops as backdrops while refusing to support their education and health needs . . . .
RepubliCONS are so cute . . .
