Just noticed Glenny’s whiny little topic post about Chavez’ police state. So, Glenny, what bothers you about a police state?
Would it be the characteristic SHAM ELECTIONS? The fact that they tend to engage in TORTURE? Or maybe that people unfortunate enough to live in a police state are denied their CIVIL RIGHTS, especially rights to PRIVACY and UNREASONABLE SEARCHES? Or that the leaders of such states tend to be CORRUPT? What bothers you about it, Glenny boy?

You know thisthe very thing that I have been talking about. If you go back and reread history this is the same stuff they did in the south during JIM CROW They tried to demonize all the eastern europens and all the blacks by saying that they were reds or markist etc…

This recent ploy by the waaahhhpublicans is just another fear tactic…first is was a “terrarist under every bed”, now they are regressing back to the 50’s with a “red scare”. However, this trip back into the not so distant past may not be a bad thing. What is his point? He believes in socialism too. Socialized police keep him safe. Socialized Fire Departments will protect him from fires. Socialized roads let him get where he is going. I could go on and on. I would like to hear him try to argue that you don’t deserve police protection if you can’t afford it, or the flames on your house shouldn’t be put out if you don’t have the money. Even better, how about the military won’t fight YOUR war if YOU AREN’T GOING TO FIGHT IT!!!

It would be nice if he, or anyone in the media for that matter, picked an issue and actually had an honest debate…one can only dream.

I agree with you…Only in America you will find people who are paid in the millions of dollars like Glenn to simply run their bad mouths, smear and bully others in everyway possible.
No facts, no genuine debate, just smear.

Politicans also win seats to run this country, not because of what they know…but because of their ability to score against the other opponent and put him down by all means including dirty messages they deliver,and the one who can deliver the meanest on the air has a better chance to win..the more the message is aired is also what these politicians care about,but that cost money..and the one who got more money usually wins a contested race.
That’s why politicians will do anything to put their hands on money they need for airtime to begin their mission of lies.

The viewer is the target of these messages…the more these messages are on the air…the more it brings more believers in the message.
For a politician, he does not need to show what he knows..he needs to sell him self as the guy who is good vs the other guy who is unqualified or bad,and sadly that’s how most of them win.
