Gonzo gets a job.

Gonzo gets a job.

Bloomberg reports:

Former U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who was forced from his job amid a controversy over the firings of federal prosecutors, has been hired to provide assistance to a special master on a patent case.

Gonzales will help former U.S. District Judge Layn R. Phillips oversee settlement talks in the case of a Texas company which claims banks such as Wells Fargo & Co., Citigroup Inc.’s Citibank and Bank of America Corp. are violating its patents for taking and transmitting digital images of checks.

Phillips, in an order signed yesterday, said he needed Gonzales’s help because of the number of parties in the case and the “overall complexity of this litigation.”

C&L’s Logan Murphy adds, “Times are tough, with the recession, mortgage foreclosure crisis and rising unemployment, but it appears former Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales has finally landed on his feet. Well, if you’re trying to find evidence of illegal activity, why not hire someone who has experience in breaking the law?”

I guess nobody else applied for the job :)~

But, but, but….I thought he was going to paint my bathroom…?

  3. WaltTheMan says:

I hope that that patent is at least 23 years old (Which would make it expired.) since the insurance industry has been doing it since 1985.

From one of the highest Offices in the Legal System that of Attorney General of the United States to less then a law clerk. Yes Gonzo finally got a job as other lower staff crooks moved in to law firms as lawyers. It’s hard out there for a pimp like Gonzo. He was refused to speak at colleges and just get a speaking event with 6 students. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Gonzo the son of immigrants was given a college education and even a degree in law. Yes he moved with the best of them and even got to be a Judge. Gonzo sucked up to the rich kid GW and covered up his DUI and other crimes. Gonzo moved in the White House as Attorney to the President. Leaving his Hispanic people behind Gonzo did as he was told. He got the Attorney General title so Karl Rove and Dick Cheney could just have him sign their criminal acts. Yes as Gonzo said at his hearing he didn’t know what was going on he just signed what they asked him to sign. As there was no need for Gonzo anymore he was kicked out of office. Yes Gonzo lost his jobs, his respect and even his family. Now he has a part-time job that a law student could do. Gonzo’s sister Teresa who sells drugs now has to worry about being picked up as she has no protection from the law anymore. Hispanic don’t speak to Gonzo and like GW, Gonzo is a man without a country or friends. Gonzo is an example to all on what happens when you sell your soul to the Devil. Yes you get what you ask for but it all goes away and your left with less then you started with.

Let’s see – Philips lives in Orange County, was appointed by Reagan as U.S Attorney in Tulsa, then as District Judge by Reagan; think this might be a Cheney-directed sop to keep Torture Boy from writing his memoirs?

  8. Bonnie says:

Like Richard Clarke said, he shouldn’t be allowed in polite society ever again. Maybe he will screw this up and then every one will know how incompetent he is.

Pathetic. What a sad, sad little torture-monkey.

  17. Witch1 says:

    Who.? ….LOL….Blessings

  18. ralph the wonder llama says:

I can see Gonzo now, going through phone records, marking with a yellow highlighter any conversation that took place on Sept. 3rd.

Once a day they’ll let him run to the deli to pick up lunch for everybody.

(Yes, that makes two Clueless references for me in two days. So sue me.)

  19. Freedom Rebel says:

I’m glad finding work has been difficult, it’s about time one of them didn’t find a coushy position at a college. I just wish John Yoo had would have had similiar problems. The fact that he is a Professor of Law in California, something is seriously wrong with that.

They all need to serve jail sentences before being allowed back into society at all.

  20. tom says:

Phillips should just make sure that Gonzo doesn’t get called as a witness. After all, he just never seems to be able to recall anything.

  21. GL2814 says:

Gonzo should be pressing license plates at this moment. Perhaps that time will still come.

  22. regular_joe says:

I hope this job is not a long term engagement.

Gonzo is already over-qualified for a different kind of long term engagement just as soon as we get a REAL attorney general: 10 to 20 years in a federal penitentiary for perjury and obstruction of justice.

  23. stewarjt says:

His last nice, safe, secure sinecure before three hots and a cot!

  24. flavorino says:

They must be using his skill set and that scary intellect of his by having him go get the coffee and danish.

It’s just another form of wingnut welfare.

  25. ucsbclassics53 says:

Unfortunately, while he may have experience breaking the law, he conveniently forgot how he did it, so that wouldn’t work…

    Make sense.
After Scotty’s little memoir/media splash, there must have been some brainstorming on how to get some cash to an incompetent to keep him from getting desperate enough to take a publisher’s offer.
    Like I said, WINGNUT WELFARE

  27. upside99 says:

And I thought he was going to get the coveted position as the Justice of the Peace in Crawford, TX. Handling all those sheep rapes and spousal abuse cases, not to mention dubya’s DUI arrests.

How far the man has fallen!

  28. Ms_Joanne says:

    Personally, I think he’s still over-employed.

He should be asking if we want fries with our orders.

Off topic, but regarding another Republican crook:

It always cracks me up when I’m browsing through the TV schedule and I see the listing for “War Stories with Oliver North”. I can’t help but think that it would be more appropriate if the show was: “Stories of American Traitors with Oliver North”.
