What if a reporter could get into the Bilderberg meeting and ask Bush's ex-economic adviser about $4 gas?

http://peureport.blogspot.com/2008/06/wheres-economic-al.html

Well, it turns out a bunch were inside the room, including the Chair and CEO of the Washington Post. Given that code of silence, don't look for a report soon, or for Allan Hubbard to answer any questions about his many economic failures.

I'm a double whammy schlemiehl . . . government reiree (pension paid in dollars) living in Europe (necessities paid in Euros) and as the dollar becomes the world's peso, fuel prices keep on rising. I drive a diesel (unlike the US it's the cheapest fuel here) and my last tank translates into $8.00 plus per gallon.

My heart pumps piss for y'all.

It turns out ex-Bush economic advisor Al Hubbard is attending Bilderberg, the meeting of international muckety mucks, held this year in Northern Virginia.

http://www.infowars.com/?p=2564

Tom Daschle and Harold Ford, Jr. joined Al, Condi, Bernake, Perle and Wolfowitz. I'm afraid no one listened to Richard Clarke's recommendation for polite society to lock some of these folks out.

I live in NYC and while I may pay insane amounts for rent, I must say that the $81 I pay for my monthly metro card (good on all NYC subways and buses) is the best deal around. Sadly, if you don't live in NYC, Chicago, Boston or DC (maybe SF) you really can't live and work without a car. But like Bush, Cheney et al give three poops.

"Then, of course, there’s the major investment in Iraqi infrastructure we’ve got going on…"

<em>Which somehow isn't happening in relation to the money being spent.</em>

<blockquote>Nevar Says:

Where is the gas tax money going? It doesn’t appear to be spent on roads and bridges, and funding the alternative transportation infrastructure we are going to need. Soon.
My guess most of it is being squandered in a failed attempt to acquire it from other peoples and places, while the oil companies profit.</blockquote>

<blockquote>RightOfAttila Says:

...For so long as we have democrats and some republicans resisting even the most environmentally sound oil exploration, we should be prepared to pay through the nose. </blockquote>

Can you identify any Democrats who have resisted any drilling project that could be accurately called "even the most environmentally sound oil exploration"?

I'm curious. Since on my daily commute I pass dozen of working oil fields. I'm wondering how they got approved and outfitted if there are "democrats and some republicans resisting"?

The price will keep going up. It's a simple rule of supply and demand. In the last 20 years, the US has recorded a drop of 40% in its oil production, while demand/consumption has more than doubled in the same period. Emerging economies in Asia are also pushing demand even higher. Unfortunately, OPEC and other oil producing countries are not willing to produce enough to satisy the increased the demands. For so long as we have democrats and some republicans resisting even the most environmentally sound oil exploration, we should be prepared to pay through the nose. Bashing oil companies for their profits will not work when we have the US goverment making more money in gas taxes than all US oil companies combined.
