If GW Botch attacks the sovereign nation of Iran the following are possible:

1) The UN could sanction the US and bring economic pressures to bear against the Botch administration.

2) The Shiaa in Iraq could (will in my opinion) start slaughtering our soldiers in even the "safest" places in Iraq.

3) Turkey could invade the Kurdish north and start a new genocide campaign against the Kurds and take strategic land. The US military and our treasury will be stretched too thin to defend the Kurds.

4) The dollar could become almost worthless if China dumps our currency to support one of their staunch allies, like Iran or Syria.

5) Only 1 or 2 oil tankers being sunk by terrorists, anywhere in the world, would drive insurance rates for oil tankers and other ships through the roof worldwide as the US will not be able to protect each and every precious tanker or ship with an over stretched military. This would drive oil prices to $200-300$ a barrel. While Americans would be pissed to the gills, the Europeans and others will be more pissed.

6) Americans will be less safe in the world in general.

7) Others will seek to arrive on our shores and destroy us more than ever before. They will be more clandestine. They will find sympathy in people that we once thought would be our friends.

8) Non-terrorist governments (i.e. England, Spain, etc.) will face massive increases in security threats from within and without. The cost will be astronomical and unacceptable to those countries. And all nations supporting any slightly mistaken form of democracy or US support will come under attack worldwide.

9) Any efforts by the US to bring diplomacy and common ground to the peace table will be met with massive skepticism for years to come.

10) It may be necessary to outlaw the RePugniScum Party and convict most of its leaders down to the state level to convince the world that the US is a democracy and can correct itself from within.

Now that you caught up on last week's news, it's time to pay attention to today's.

Sec. Gates will address "weak leadership" in the Air Force by visiting two bases to talk about the topic. The first houses nuclear ballistic missiles while the second has tankers that refuel nuclear armed bombers in flight.

Gates just ditched the top two Air Force leaders. This came months after Adm. Fallon, a known opponent to the use of force on Iran, resigned.

http://arisfreedomswitch.blogspot.com/2008/06/replacing-resisters-greases-skids-for.html

Bush wants to be Truman. How many nuclear bombs will he drop before his ushers in his Middle East Marshall Plan?

Did taking out their biggest enemy have anything to do with Iran's supposed (increased) threat?

Israel has nukes and Iran does not. Why does the US have to do anything? Israel was threatened and they have every right to do something about it, but it seems like, "My brother's gonna kick your ass". All the encouragement a friend could need, but fight your own battles. Unless Israel is the 51st state (for real), we shouldn't be fighting their battles. Does soverienty mean anything anymore?

TeleMan Says:

Why do we have to be The World Police?

The short answer is $$$$$$$$$$$'s
lots of them, mountains of $$$$$$'s
oceans of $$$$$$$$$$$$
more than the average person could ever even imagine.
There for the taking by Haliburton, KBR, Blackwater, G.E., Dick Cheney, Exxon-Mobile, the Bush family, the Carlyle Group, Saudi princes and countless other companies, individuals, contractors, war profiteers, politicians, charlatans and cronies that most of us don't even know exist and number in the thousands.

It's been a big party called "Let's Loot the U.S. Treasury!"

And it worked. The U.S. Treasury is empty except for being stuffed with IOU's like that briefcase in "Dumb and Dumber"

Lindsay 'Cracker' Graham said on a Sunday political show that 'John McCain is the architect of 'The Surge'.

Think about that.

AEI, Fred Kagan, specifically, floated the surge idea to Cheney. Bush credited Petreaus. Now McCain is getting 'credit'.

My point is, these guys will do, say, write, copy, steal or make up any shit they please to keep us diverted from the actual truth...we're there for the Oil Companies.

Olmert has big scandal trouble in the 'Motherland'. Bush has even bigger trouble here in the 'Homeland'. Both are warmongering, religious idiots who need war to divert attention from their own sorry lack of leadership.

Invade Iran and Support Your Local Dictator

RantingTommy Says:

Blue jeans and Rock n Roll would go a lot further in de-radicalizing Iran than bombs would.

In the '60& '70's 57,000+ Americans and @ 2,000,000 Vietnamese died in what was said to be an attempt to "defeat the communists".

In the '80's & '90's Vietnam was lured back towards capitalism by Nike & Addidas sneakers, Michael Jackson cd's
and Hollywood movies.
It worked better than the bombing without all the carnage.

Most of Iran is under 30 years old.
Time, cell phones and the internet will take their course.
Unleashing death and carnage on innocent people is probably not the best way to handle the situation.

Pakistan has nuclear weapons and they are harboring Al Qaeda and the Taliban in their Northwest provinces. A.Q. Khan, the Pakistani father of "the Islamic bomb" had passed on technology to other countries, not much is heard about him today, but the last news a few years back was "he was under house arrest".......IN HIS VILLA! WHY NO DANGER THERE?

Something does not smell right about this second "march to war" and the "fixing the facts around the policy" in 6 years.

What makes me nervous is that no one has mentioned that a military action against Iran is likely to have a very different result than the military action against Iraq. Iran from all accounts is a country that is functioning well, and would probably be able to retaliate in a more meaningful way against the United States. Part of why Americans who supported the Iraq war did support it was because of the somewhat naive notion that the U.S. could just go in and "bomb them back to the stone age." (A perfectly reprehensible position to take.) Iran is not Iraq. Plus with the possibility of bootleg nuclear weapons of some kind being out there and available, a military action against Iran would be extremely dangerous.

RUCerious Says:
I received an email from my representative, who made it abundantly clear that the only thing that WILL trigger an IMMEDIATE impeachment of BOTH chympy and darth is a unilateral, non-congressionally approved, military action of ANY sort against Iran.

You might want to call your representative and point out that will be too late. The time to impeach them is NOW, before they start another war of aggression. What is wrong with the Democrats? They have the support of the people, why don't they act?

flavorino Says:
I think Israel is the only country in the world where George Bush has a positive approval rating.
My question is; when are our politicians going stop catering so slavishly to the Israeli lobbying and start to put American interests before Israeli interests?

Actually the Israelis don't like Bush any more than we do. It is the Israeli government that likes Bush. Apparently the Israeli people want their government to talk to Hamas and to find a peaceful solution to the middle east. Their government doesn't listen to what they want any more than our government listens to what we want.

Ahmadinejad was right. They do need to wipe the Israeli government off the map. And we need to wipe our current government off the map which is what we will do in November.

Xisithrus Says:

Everytime these folks make threats in the media the price of oil goes up.

Would you stop it!?

But don't you see, that is the goal. You need to start realizing that KBH and the oil companies are the constituancies of the Bush admin. You would think the constituancy would be you and I; but you are wrong. Everytime the invasion creates profits, bush becomes more and more valuable to his bosses. Now Iran is in the crosshairs only because there is more money to be made during war, than during peace. Why the fu(k is Liz Cheney even speaking?

Ok, I'm damn sick and tired of this. If Olmert is so hot to trot to attack Iran, let him do it. Why in hell should we attack Iran just because Israel wants us to do it? Since when did Israel become the boss of the US government? I certainly hope that once Obama takes office he takes a hard line with Israel. It's time we cut them loose and let them stand on their own feet.

As an American, I have trouble with the concept of a country where your acceptance as a citizen, opportunities and place in society is determined by your religion.
The only way that ever works is through repression and/or religous/ethnic cleansing.
That is kind of in opposition to the supposed ideal of American values, yet America's greatest friends in the middle east are Israel and Saudi Arabia, who both appear to be playing the U.S. for a sucker.
I know we tolerate this for geopolitical reasons (OIL/$$$), but in my opinion a world view grounded in hypocrisy usually turns out badly in the end.

Winski Says:

Are these people mad?

You think $4.00 gas is expensive? Try $ 20/gal.!! Or even higher since the whole middle-east would do everything in its power to bring the U.S. to its knees - and would succeed !!

Maybe that's the point... since the oil companies aren't getting the Iraq "oil revenue sharing" law passed, this will be used as an excuse to help "reduce" consumer oil prices by drilling in Alaska and off-shore. Not only does BigOil then get "our" oil, which they can then sell back to us, but I bet they also get HUGE government financial incentives for "oil exploration".

Gee, I never used to think of our government in this light... was I naive, or has it really come to this?

Re: Immediate Impeachment only AFTER the bombs start falling...

Go ahead, Congress. Dangle that carrot in front of us. We're not biting. If you wait to impeach these a$$holes until after they start bombing, then the blood of every innocent Iranian that dies in that campaign is on your hands just like Bush's. We will NOT let you forget it. If you do make good and impeach, we will STILL vote you OUT.
