Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) invited former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to testify before the Committee at a June 20th hearing about reported efforts to cover up the role of the White House in the Valerie Plame leak. “In his book, Mr. McClellan suggests that senior White House officials may have obstructed justice and engaged in a cover-up regarding the Valerie Plame leak,” Conyers said. “This alleged activity could well extend beyond the scope of the offenses for which Scooter Libby has been convicted and deserves further attention.”

oooh, mamamia papalote!
June 9th, 2008 at 3:41 pmOh Oh, better check under the hood before you start the ScottyMobile!
June 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pmI certainly hope he REMEMBERS what he said in his own book.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:44 pmHmmmm, let’s see how Scotty responds…should be telling.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:46 pmGo get em Scotty! This is an oxymoron, a neo-con with a conscious. What’s a matter Scotty, couldn’t sleep at night, people ignoring you at the grocery store, neighbors don’t say hi to you anymore…
June 9th, 2008 at 3:49 pmConyers better not disappoint
June 9th, 2008 at 3:50 pmCan we please have some flight schedules? I don’t want to be on the same flights as Scotty. He needs to be very careful where he goes and with whom he hangs around with.
That is a hearing, should it take place, which I will be glued to.
June 9th, 2008 at 3:51 pmAgreed, Zoo. So far he’s been in relatively comfortable surroundings, except for Bildo, and Scotty probably knows what a big blowhard Bildo is.
But this, this will be official.
Will Scotty continue on his redemption offensive, or will he prove intimidated by the attacks of the right wing?
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pmScotty better not disappoint.
Just sayin’…
June 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pmHey Roger2, is this enough of a politician for you? As you did say, this was going nowhere a few days ago.
Heh heh
June 9th, 2008 at 4:02 pmFitzmass is back
June 9th, 2008 at 4:02 pmAt this point, I seriously think Scott cannot afford to back out or take back a single solitary word he’s written. He sang like a canary and everyone’s heard.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:06 pmlike the song goes, Scotty, it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late!
June 9th, 2008 at 4:07 pm>it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late!
I could care less about apologies, if this guy does anything to help expose and bring downt the bush mafia, hes gold in my book…
sing birdie, sing..
June 9th, 2008 at 4:17 pmYou keep on telling yourself that rogers. I have yet to hear any one defending Bush refute the content of Scotty’s book.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:19 pmConyers invites Scott McClellan to testify.
Another tease thrown at us? Hard to get excited these days.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:21 pmOut of habit, the White House will attempt to send him the talking points for the day.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:22 pmAnyone interested in an ongoing dissection of Scotties knowledge of the Plame outing should read Marcy’s blog “Scottie McC’s Chronology: September 27” & “Scottie McC’s Chronology: September 29” at http://emptywheel.firedoglake.com

Maybe when Rx2 finds a friend or relative who CAN READ, he will find out what’s between the pages. It’s your country too, Rx2.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:24 pmI’d check under the car before starting it these days, Scott. You know better than to under estimate these folks.
Having said that, BREAK OUT THE POPCORN! This could be a great show. Scott may just well be the only person in this entire administration who actually recalls anything! Give him a couple of drinks and just let him speak!
Compile your questions and send them off to Conyers. I know I have some I’d like answered…
PEACE
June 9th, 2008 at 4:27 pm>so what happened after that one, huh?.
Wait till theres a REAL president in office, dirtbag, one who will actually tell his attorney general to uphold the law,
June 9th, 2008 at 4:37 pmnot some crony who claims he can’t even remember what color his last bowel movement was. You better pray to god for your precious heroes that the statute of limitations on thier crimes has past before a president with integrity gets elected. If Obama goes all the way, and theres a good chance he might, some of your heroes will be going to jail, mark my word..
rogers,
go suck that big Repuklican Dick in the Sky, ‘K?
Your grasp of speech, writing, context, grammar and spelling are atrocious. Your understanding if issues is minimal, at best.
If you’re getting paid to post, just say something as easy as ‘post’, but don’t try to wax philosophical.
Now go back outside & play.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:46 pmRoger2,
If Scottie goes before the Committee and testifies under oath, will you believe him?
Naw, probably not. Oh well, we tried.
June 9th, 2008 at 4:48 pm“This alleged activity could well extend beyond the scope of the offenses for which Scooter Libby has been convicted and deserves further attention.”
Gee…yeah think?

June 9th, 2008 at 4:54 pmWow. Poor Scottie - I hope his life insurance is paid up.
And I’m not joking.

June 9th, 2008 at 5:06 pmUPDATE UPDATE! Scotty just accepted to teestify on June 20.
“Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan, whose scathing memoir about his time in the Bush administration sent waves through Washington D.C., has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee, a senior committee official told The Huffington Post.
McClellan, who detailed the “propaganda” campaign that led to the Iraq war in his book, “What Happened,” is scheduled to appear on June 20.
His hearing will focus primarily on the investigation into the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame, an episode that McClellan has said was driven by political motivations from within the Oval Office. But the committee could press the former press secretary on other matters within its jurisdiction, including the possible authorization of torture by administration officials (though it remains to be seen how much knowledge McClellan has of that topic).”
June 9th, 2008 at 5:08 pmIf Scott was “disillusioned” before his book tour, he must be outright disgusted now after the media onslaught by Bartlett, Rove, Perino, etc.
There will be blowback. And in front of congress. Woohoo!
June 9th, 2008 at 5:41 pmAll us “libruls” gave Scott enough attaboys that he’s willing to keep on singing!
Somehow, I think we’ve had far more success with Scott than McCain’s minions will have wooing the Hillary Dems.
PEACE
June 9th, 2008 at 5:47 pmHowdy Folks,
I guess this is the jist of the article: “House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) invited former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan to testify before the Committee at a June 20th hearing about reported efforts to cover up the role of the White House in the Valerie Plame leak.”
With that said, how many of you repliers actually believe John Conyers will get to the bottom of this? You remember him don’t you?
He was the Representative who held non-official Impeachment hearings in the basement while the Democrats were in the minority.
Once the Democrats became a majority he was the Representative that said he would not seek Impeachment hearings. Thanks to Nancy Pelosi.
He, and his Judiciary Committee, has launched so many investigations against the George W admin. it makes my head spin.
But there’s one common denominator. George W’s admin. is not only not talking their flaunting their Executive Privelege in Conyer’s face.
So, please, tell me how Conyers asking Scotty to testify will bring honest answers from George W’s admin?
Me thinks, Conyers talks the talk but doesn’t walk the walk.
Troubled
