McCain denies criticizing media, even though he actually did.

In a recent interview with Newsweek, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) denied saying in a recent speech that “the media often overlooked how compassionately” Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) “spoke to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans.” “I did not [say that] — that was in prepared remarks, and I did not [say it],” McCain told the reporters. “I’m not in the business of commenting on the press and their coverage or not coverage.” But as Politico’s Jonathan Martin points out, the video of his speech shows that McCain actually did say it. Watch it:

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers told Martin that McCain “answered the way he did because his point in the speech wasn’t so much to smack the press as to compliment Sen. Clinton.”

A lie is a lie is a lie…Is McSame so old he cannot understand that what he does is documented? That is how it is going to be, folks. I bet even the media doesn’t bring up these scary ’senior moments’. After all, McSame is a maverick – whatever that means.

  2. Zooey says:

Tomorrow he’ll say he DID say it.

The day after that — he’ll deny it again.

  3. RUCerious says:

Someone clue McIIIrd that video tape IS ROLLING. all the time..Shheeeesh..

  4. Badmoodman says:

McCain would even say he was misquoted….in his autobiography.

  5. spencers mom says:

John still doesn’t quite understand this whole “video/internet/archival” thing, now does he?

    PEACE

  6. octamethyl says:

McCain can be forgiven his misunderstanding of today’s media. Back in his day, he would have to stand perfectly still in front of a camera for several images before it would image, and emails had to be hand delivered via pony express.

Which is scarier…the constant lying or the constant “senior moments”…?

    Yikes.

I’d just like to know who’s been detailed with making sure McCain wears his shoes on the correct feet.

  10. Zooey says:

    Dr Hussein Matt,

I think SOP for McSame would be to call Hil a c*nt and a trollop.

Annie, I think what’s scariest is how hard it is to tell the difference.

  12. StratRat says:

Do you think all McSame’s supporters know he left his ill wife to marry the beer guzzler? If they are the evangelical group, how could they defend this un-Christian like behavior? Or is it that all Christians have a closely held belief that the man can do no wrong, and the woman just sumbit graceciously; even to abuse? What a strange and pre-historical belief system.

C’mon…use the green screen. You don’t get manna from heaven often in this world.

A good example is what SadlyNo! did.

  14. Peter C says:

Clearly McCain doesn’t feel constrained by the truth. We’ve had 8 years of that and don’t need more!

  15. ninique says:

McNoBrain can do no wrong. I mean he can go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and ba….

  16. RUCerious says:

Sadly, it may be true that he doesn’t remember stuff he said like, yesterday.
    Sadly, he’s running for president.

  17. Bobwurst says:

    Let me get this straight:
First he claims that he didn’t say that the media overlooked Hillary’s compassion, those words were in “prepared remarks”?
It wasn’t a mis-statement, an off the cuff comment, but in remarks that were prepared. Presumably, written, reread, and edited before they were released. That means that they don’t mean what they mean?

Then it turns out that he lied. And when he’s caught lying he says he“ answered the way he did because his point in the speech wasn’t so much to smack the press as to compliment Sen. Clinton.”?!?!?!

Even his lies are “mccain” moments.

  18. WaltB says:

Come on, give the old guy a break! He has problems remembering lots of things, just like George W. At least he doesn’t resort to playing cowboy or stuff like that.

  19. galmud says:

Yeah McCain doesnt comment on medias coverage except claiming pundits (and party elders) declared Obama to be his opponent not the voters..

The Maverick was a shitty automobile built by Ford in the 70’s

McStupid came immediately into the garbage GOP fold after (Gerald)Ford and was a “foot soldier” in Ronnie Retard’s “army” , and is now in his 70’s ; and he’s also pretty shitty…….

    ___________________________________________________

McCain has bashed the press before, far more unfairly than he has here. I’m sure this really was more about praising Clinton than it was about condemning the news media, and McCain just did it a bit more awkwardly than he could have.

That said — I’m even willing to concede McCain a partial point here. Both Obama and Clinton have made many, many speeches during the long Democratic primary season, and both of them have done a great deal of speaking to the concerns and dreams of millions of Americans — only to have the media focus far more on trivial crapola instead. Even if McCain DID criticize the media on this matter, I daresay it wouldn’t have been the worst thing he ever uttered.

Yeah, Fred is a spry 68, and his trophy wife is much hotter. Maybe Mcbush will pick Fred in an effort to grab the youth vote.

Speaking of covering up for mcchimpy. Did you hear the one where one of his advisers said he had the verb tense mixed up? HAHAHAHA

  33. upside99 says:

Unfortunately, we need to worry as we have seen the past 7 1/2 years, the MSM is a great cosmetic coverup for terminal cases of Stoo-pidity, Incompetence and Arrogance.

And that same cosmetic can cover up Senior Moments and Dishonesty.

  37. gummitch says:

Phooey, a Maverick was James Garner. Everyone knows that.

  38. Patty says:

Don’t say it — not another puppet campaign with Dick Cheney and Karl Rove operating the strings and providing the script!

If that’s the case, I guess McCain really didn’t say the words we thought he read (so poorly) from the teleprompter.

But if we’re to believe they’re not his words, then we must conclude this really would be Bush-Third-Term.

  39. dbadass says:

I thought a maverick was an unbranded cow…

  40. Zimzone says:

How the hell is McShitforbrains going to debate Obama?

How can a teleprompter be used for unscripted questions?

Ahhhh, I see…he’ll only ‘debate’ scripted questions, so he can use the teleprompter, know which camera is on and what answers the lobbyists wrote for him to answer. But, the first time Obama nails him with facts and diverts him, he’s toast…milquetoast!

    Yikes.

What more scary is that the Media gives him a pass, and can’t seem to find the balls or brains to call him out on all his baggage.
Err wait never mind whats even more scary is that millions of Americans buy his whole act, even though McCain is a horrible actor.

  43. The Shadow says:

John McCain is a liar. He is also too old for the job because he is losing his mind. What I can’t believe is that there are enough fools out there who want to elect a 72 year old with a memory problem. He can’t even remember what he had for breakfast ten minutes after he’s done. If people are stupid enough to elect him this country is going to go into a depression. Why? Because he has people like Phil Graham running his campaign and telling him what to say. He has no idea what he stands for because he can’t remember. This is actually a very dangerous combination of things that could not only lead to a depression but cause us to get into a war we can’t win. This idiot has people telling him that we should attack Iran which would cause gas prices to go over 10.00 a gallon. Just remember that you heard it from me first.

  44. ThomasMc says:

The Alzheimers candidate can’t even remember what he said a few days ago, by November he won’t even remember his own name.
